I’m a lifelong motorcyclist and avid Flat Track fan. There is something about watching this video that is not only extremely interesting but also a source of pride in being part of a long-standing community of enthusiasts. Thank you to the men and women keeping this tradition alive and for sharing it here. 🏍🍾😁

They are small engines so to speak but this is a 61 cubic inch engine man. mounted to a bicycle frame, with a 150 pound man on it. The engine has no transmission, instead the drive is directly coming off of the crank. giving instant power. This is why you have to push start them and they have not clutch.
In a interview under *Davenport Motorcycle Racing(RU-vid), The rider here--*Michael Lange, said he was pulling down 71MPH in the straightway with this 61c.i. JD Motor and his current gearing for the Davenport 1/2 Mile.
Matt, have I got a track for you all!! The full thrill of the hard surface board track (asphalt), 5/8 mile, the high banking (at one time the banking was steeper than Talledega, but has since been toned down a little. It's sitting vacant with no scheduled racing. The Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway. Superb. Nashville got it's big new Nascar track and they are talking about tearing the Fairgrounds Speedway down. Everyone from Barney Oldfield, Foyt, Jr Johnson etc has run there. [more in next post]
This is insane, these bikes have far more character than the modern plastic rockets, they should bring this style of racing back its far more entertaining.
I think they get up to like 90mph (145km/h), I know the old board track races from the really old days were 90-100+mph. Maybe these guys don't go quite as fast though, I don't know. Edit: one of the other comments says he got up to 71MPH( ~114km/h), said so during an interview.
NO scheduled racing at all. The contact would be a guy named Tony Formosa. He owns it and is trying to save it. Very historic and Nashville is a great tourist town for you guys. You damned sure need to check into it. Here is a YT video: /watch?v=tTLnLgZ1yUE , "NASCAR RaceHub: Fairgrounds Speedway Nashville"

Avool V the Board track in the tittle refers to the style of bikes in the race. These bikes are replicas of the types of bikes they used to race on board tracks.
