Abigail is cool but remember she became just one of his wives, so she still was in a harem. Realistically, what David did was rescue her from a Levirate marriage. He likely took her to snuff out Nabal's family line through a possible Levirate marriage. Abigail hot footed it out of there probably for the same reason. It is likely the other men in Nabal's family were also unpleasant and/or she would have faced repercussions for defying her husband and seemingly shaming him and his family, regardless of her actions being smart.

David NEVER said that he had been SAVED by this intelligent woman (?!) He gave glory to the LORD God of Israel which sent her to meet him.
