Purchase this song at bit.ly/ZMLurM In March 2009, David Archuleta attended a rehearsal and sang "Be Still My Soul," to The Tabernacle Choir. Arranger and pianist: Kendra Lowe (kendralowe.com).
Who is with me in 2020 at this moment when loves ones are dying alone because of this virus. God give their love ones strength to go on after this time.......
Patricia Scott yes my heart is breaking. Dear family friend on ventilator for 2 weeks is having his machines shut off at noon today (25 min ago). This is what I can’t handle emotionally....the isolation of family members being by sides of their loved ones. His wife is only one allowed there and then she has to go quarantine for 12 days again. Just praying for Christ’s return soon.
They aren't alone. There are members of their deceased family with them. I know this because as my sister lay dying I saw my grandfather in her room. He looked as alive as he did the last time I saw him as a child. Take comfort from this because it is true. No one dies alone.
I cry when I hear him sing this. I am a widow and miss my husband among many others in my life. I will be glad when all this is past and I am with the LORD forever and we all will meet again!!
just watched this for the first time, tears streamed down my face, as this young man, recognized the magnitude of his audience and so humbly and beautifully delivered one of the best performances of this song I have ever heard.
I'm Jewish but the music from FINLANDIA, Be Still My Soul, circumvents all religions or non-religions. It was a force against the Russians when the were trying to take over Finland. It kept the Finns fighting on, to their survival.
P.S. The imagery of Sibelius taking shots at evil with his rifle in the fields of Finland must have been profoundly effective in motivating his country men against The Nazi's.
It’s 2022 and I’ve recently watched his video where he pours out his heart and soul for the world. His inner anguish and pain and confusion broke my heart. David is a man of God and his love for our Father in Heaven and our savior Jesus Christ is so strong! He is still a great example of what it’s like to love the Lord and do your best to live a Christ like life. He has morals, which a lot of people lack. He is loving, sincere, honest and an all around beautiful spirit. David, you are perfect just the way you are. Your voice gives me goosebumps! It’s so pure and angelic just like you ❤️🙏🏼 You are loved my brother in Christ. Take care of yourself 🙏🏼 The world needs David Archuleta
There were several young men who were contestants on American Idol that let us know that their faith was strong, Jason Castro, David Archuleta, and Scotty McCreery, there may have been others, but these three really stood out in my mind. David is such a sweetheart.
So well said. It is sad in our civilized world that young people are so often put through that, and many do not make it out the other side. So happy that through the Lord Himself David is now living his true self. He has given the world and is giving the world SO MUCH.
David was 'a nice young man's Now I see him as an Adult. He gives me hope that young people can navigate the conflicts of life and remain alive. My prayers have been for him.
1. Be still, my soul: The Lord is on thy side; With patience bear thy cross of grief or pain. Leave to thy God to order and provide; In ev’ry change he faithful will remain. Be still, my soul: Thy best, thy heav’nly Friend Thru thorny ways leads to a joyful end. 2. Be still, my soul: Thy God doth undertake To guide the future as he has the past. Thy hope, thy confidence let nothing shake; All now mysterious shall be bright at last. Be still, my soul: The waves and winds still know His voice who ruled them while he dwelt below. 3. Be still, my soul: The hour is hast’ning on When we shall be forever with the Lord, When disappointment, grief, and fear are gone, Sorrow forgot, love’s purest joys restored. Be still, my soul: When change and tears are past, All safe and blessed we shall meet at last.
The melody is actually a Finnish patriotic song, not national anthem, but a very special song to us Finns. It's called Finlandia by Jean Sibelius. I think it suits beautifully as a hymn as well.
Our 13th article of faith is ''"We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men; indeed, we may say that we follow the admonition of Paul-We believe all things, we hope all things, we have endured many things, and hope to be able to endure all things. If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things. We seek after all things that uplift no matter where it comes from. This beautiful song fits this definition. God gives His gifts to all his children.
Oh, he is good; he sings it perfectly, 1 Be still, my soul: the Lord is on thy side. Bear patiently the cross of grief or pain. Leave to thy God to order and provide; In every change, He faithful will remain. Be still, my soul: thy best, thy heav’nly Friend Through thorny ways leads to a joyful end. 2 Be still, my soul: thy God doth undertake To guide the future, as He has the past. Thy hope, thy confidence let nothing shake; All now mysterious shall be bright at last. Be still, my soul: the waves and winds still know His voice Who ruled them while He dwelt below. 3 Be still, my soul: when dearest friends depart, And all is darkened in the vale of tears, Then shalt thou better know His love, His heart, Who comes to soothe thy sorrow and thy fears. Be still, my soul: thy Jesus can repay From His own fullness all He takes away. 4 Be still, my soul: the hour is hast’ning on When we shall be forever with the Lord. When disappointment, grief, and fear are gone, Sorrow forgot, love’s purest joys restored. Be still, my soul: when change and tears are past All safe and blessed we shall meet at last. 5 Be still, my soul: begin the song of praise On earth, believing, to Thy Lord on high; Acknowledge Him in all thy words and ways, So shall He view thee with a well-pleased eye. Be still, my soul: the Sun of life divine Through passing clouds shall but more brightly shine.
+Susan Howe It is a hymn for all ages, for every time, for every century. I love this hymn and just copied the words from somewhere else on the net. I will listen again soon to this great hymn.
When my father died four years ago, at age 96, I sang this at his funeral. It was one of his favorites. Such a moving and spiritual hymn and absolutely beautiful.
Sorry for your loss, Patrick. They are probably singing this in Heaven some time later this evening. This guy's voice is just plain sick! He has one of those voices that sounds he is crying. I know I am. Still come back to this video when I am feeling depressed or lonely. It always helps. God bless you.
somehow, he makes me believes in God even more... he's voice lends comfort to this world that is full of hate and bigotry in its late hour. Be still, my soul... trust in God with heart.
i'm a devout catholic .. David's music always inspires me to get closer to God. thank you David..your gift of music is so heartwarming! ..and I just can't understand why there are 99 dislikes..
after the events in Paris on Friday, I've been searching for some sort of peace. "be still my soul, the hour is hastening on." I've found it, what a beautiful song it's one of my favorite hymns
Even the laughs of the MTC are in tune XDD I looooove David's voice so much. It's got so much sentiment. I am one of the blessed people who listened to him singing live in Chile while he was a missionery. What a beautiful and unforgettable moment.
I went back and listened to the beginning again after reading your comment... By George you're right. What must that feel like to sit with a hundred other people and be so United that you laugh in key?
Tears.. I love David Archuleta. They sang this at my mother's service when she passed away last November. It gives me hope that I may see her again. David sings it so beautifully and from the heart.
one of my favorite hymns!... and done in such a sweet beautiful way. you don't have to be Mormon or Catholic.... to recognize a beautiful tribute to our savior...
its not just Davids voice but his love for Jesus who is the king of Peace is bringing in the joys as u feel him move your hearts. praise God.. Jesus almighty...
I feel so privilege to attend a session with him at Cebu Philippine Temple before he left for his mission...a very humble guy who doesn't even want to be recognized by so many who attended the session that day,and even came in to the room when the session nearly going to start so no one will notice him. i love this guy....keep it up David....I love your voice!
Back in the mid-1960’s we learned this hymn in confirmation class. I have never forgotten it. It is, and always will be a favorite. And, yes, I still sing in church choir.
this song brings me comfort when I’m spiritually broken, when everything is going bad in my life and I need to feel God‘s presence and gods comfort. I’m grateful for this young man’s voice may God bless him and everything he does.
God Bless all who use the gifts He has given them to celebrate today. This is the moment the gates of Heaven were open over 2000 years ago for us and our salvation.
I’ve listened to this about 5 or 6 times in the past 3 months this is my favorite hymn of all times and him singing it is just the absolute best. He is such a blessing and is filled with so much love and joy the sound that comes from him is just amazing so peaceful and calming
This is MY VERY Favorite Hymn!!! I told my Husband years ago that I want it played at my Funeral. I just Adored President Gordon B.Hinkley AND his wife Marjorie Pay Hinckley. It warmed my Heart when I found out she had it played at her Funeral😇💓🥰
What a gift god gave this young man.may he always cherrish it as he is now. This might be a Finnish song but it touches your soul ,no matter what language,or nationality it's God's bringing us ALL together as one.praise the Lord.
I would absolutely love for DAVID Archuleta to do an entire album of beautifully simply rendered hymns just as he has so soulfully and lovingly has given us this precious selection. I would love this hymn that has brought me so much comfort at this time of the passing of my beloved husband. It is a great reminder - to at times- be very still so as to hear and feel the Holy Spirit in these tumultuous times ... thank you David.
"sorry if I... I'm a little nervous singing in front of you... I apologize in advance" *casually drops the greatest rendition of Be Still My Soul found on RU-vid
This hymn has been a huge strength to me during very rough periods. This is lovely how he did this, as a thanks and encouragement to them. (or so it feels to me)
No matter what the church feels/says, you cannot deny David’s spirit. And guess what? Our Heavenly Father knows us more than we know ourselves and He knew all along, David’s struggles, we all struggle in some sort of way, we chose our paths as we knew what was awaiting us in this life, Therefore i know with my entire soul, our Father in Heaven will embrace him, bc he loves each and every one of us, and like any parent, wants the best for us. 🙏🏽❤️🩹❤️🔥
My mother is on hospice right now and loves David Archuleta. We will be playing this for her as she leaves us and heads to her heavenly destination. Thank you David for bringing light to our world.
David you sing this song so beautifully. My soul is filled with the Spirit of our Heavenly Father and how much he loves us, as we go through our trials in this life, both in sadness and hapinesses. It is fillled with the peace and the love of our Savior. Thank you!
My wife & I have been fans of David Archuleta ever since he won on the popular TV Show "America's Got Talent". David's voice transcends that of an angel.
I just love him! I’ve recently returned to the Church, his testimony through music, has touched my spirit! No doubt David was in the Heavenly choir before he came to earth. He brought this talent with him to touch others so they might feel the Spirit of the Lord. Thank you David.
