Buy a house worth 250k with a mortgage around 1200, and rent to a roommate for 600-700 and now your monthly expense is 600$, quicker way to build equity and ultimately own a home. If all goes well and house becomes worth 300k+ in less than 3 years. Takes about a 7-10k down payment about 20k needed to begin and buy a house worth the 250k. Suggest having at least 30k in the bank to do this minimum to be comfortable.

I don't know what they do now in high school but in the late 70's, early 80's, I got it and I had a hunger to know more and yes, I went to college but it encouraged me to get it at the college and graduate level when it wasn't even required. Folks come to me now and I'm not in finance as a career but I know what I need to do and I'm always open to listen to more as in this forum! Mom/Dad didn't teach me, they didn't know anything. Now I'm helping family and friends when they request it. Folks look at me and think I'm balling, that's not it, I just spend, save and invest more wisely. Knowledge is power!

Learned this in the late 90s from Robert Kiyosaki. Give yourself the money over buying yourself something. See money as a reward not the things you buy with it. Run your life lean for 5 years. Sell what you don't need, refrain from buying unnecessary and expensive things you don't need. It will blow you mind how much money you will begin to pay yourself. I sold my second car, moved into a cheaper apartment and stopped partying for days a week. I was putting away $10k in cash a year.

Great interview with someone who is showing one way to financial security in the USA. What saddens me on this interview on BC is that like most non entertainment interviews on this channel it won't get many views (I will be happy to be proven wrong). Plus why does CG feel the need to spoil the message with idiotic jokes at the end which add nothing to the content of the interview.

This type of financial advice isn't conducive to certain communities. People are always trying to push the message of "saving money from latte's and coffee", that isn't rooted in practicality. Money earning power strategies are as important as learning how to save aggressively. Saving strategy is scalable, it's capped based on your earning. Everyone listening/watching this should look into content from Ramit Seti. His book "I Will Teach You to Be Rich" is what kids and people from disenfranchised communities need to read.

Thank you for this video! We need more of these videos. I increased my 401K from 12% to 14%. I took a loan out on my 401K, and i'm paying all of my credit cards so that I can retire at 50! Thank you so much for this! I'm brown papering my lunch forever now.

Research roth ira's with 401k you won't be able to touch it until you're 59 1/2.

@Davide Lecky you don't have to pay it back unless you took out a loan before it matured
