Suze’s “Young, Fabulous, and Broke” was a game changer for me. Got me to pay off my credit cards, buy my first home, and finally build up savings 14 years ago.
Ralinebe 233 Ramsey didn’t change you enough cuz he would like for you to have no credit score, indeterminable. Haha! All seriousness, I totally get what you’re saying, the awareness and practicality they bring to the conversation is invaluable.
Right out the gate, she hit the nail on the head about money in the black community. When we start making it, we have to start taking care of our family members.
Hhhmmm I could have sworn she said stop spreading ourselves so thin...stop giving and dont be afraid to say no to grown ass folks also dont put student loans for your kids in your name...college kids can go to school without their parents co-signing
I'm glad I listen to her years ago. Paid off my debt, had 6 months of emergency fund, bought a foreclosure home. Ended up with cancer and lost my job. But had my savings to live off.
"Take what you need and move on".....best advice ever! Some people are looking for financial guru gods; chile, when it comes to my money EVERYONE gets scrutinize and the side-eye. If some of the things she said makes sense and feels right to my soul then I'll use it, and if not, then I fast forward the interview.
This interview is one of the top 5 for 2018. There’s so many nuggets that our community can gain if we just listen. The financial game she was dropping is “generation changing” if you listen and apply and scale it to your life. You don’t need a lot of money to grow your money.
Years ago when I wasn't on top of my finances and my understanding of my credit was not the best, I listened to her and read several of her articles. Several years later my financial security, net worth, and understanding of credit changed for the better. What she has to offer, financial wisdom, is priceless...
Big ups to the booking department at the Breakfast Club for getting good and more diverse guests this year. Suze Orman is the truth: with a friend like her, Oprah will never go broke. And I'm glad she said what she said to Master P because if he can market his music, clothes, concerts, and straight-to-DVD movies to the poor Black community, then Suze can market her money advice to that same community. If Black people don't have money then how did he get rich? Hello! I enjoy people who speak life, truth, and a viable plan for having better days.
Shane C P was saying that most people don’t have the money to invest in it he wasn’t trying to down play what she said yeah he got rich off music etc it’s all a business and she scammed a lot of people if you don’t your research
As a black man.. I have to say that some of you black men in the comments section are really hurt. There is a lot of deflection, false parallels, etc... It's sad. Every person isn't against you. Every black woman isn't against you. A person's support or reception of Suzy's good advice is not indicative of their hate for black people, or poor people, or whomever else. Relax.
Paige Valbrun shehas a bad track record. Google scam with her name. Hundreds of people dont check out with her. If you want a starter financial book type in “rich dad poor dad” on youtube. Free 5 hr audiobook
She is right. I make 6 figures and I dont mind helping out but Im building my legacy and cant keep giving hand outs. Im all for teaching you how to fish. We have to think about the future. As blacks we were never thought how to manage our money, we need to change the dynamic. We can change the stigma. Im teaching all my peeps how to get this money if they are willing to listen.
Phillip Gray You get into Information Technology. Its a high demand for these jobs. No matter what state you are in www.udemy.com/six-figure-career-plan/
Get certifications. RU-vid has a lot of resources where you can learn too. Especially in this field not many Black folks. Usually these jobs get out source because its a high demand. I am a IT Project Manager. I have a certification as a Scrum Master and PMP. You dont have to be coding or a developer. Tons of jobs in this field. Udemy is a great source to get started!
Phillip Gray If you stay focus you can get in in less than a year. There are more indians in this field than blacks. I dont blame them because the money is really good. Its not hard just apply yourself.
I listen to her years ago. Glad I did, I was diagnosed with cancer, lost my job the following year. But I had saved 6 months of emergency funds. And I was single at the time. I was able to pay for my mortgage, utilities and health insurance. So from one older women (old enough to be your mom) to a young woman. Pay off debt, budget, invest, and save!!!!!!
I used to love watching Suze Orman's show back in the day. My favorite segment was 'Can I Afford It'. I saved up an emergency fund, paid off my vehicle, and student loan following her advice. Like with her other books, I'll borrow this one from my local library.
Women should NEVER be a stay at home Mom, even if their man has money...cause it's HIS money and whenever he decides to leave, they have NOTHING!! Women, protect yourself!!
My sister's husband made a lot of money and she didn't really have to work but she choose to...he bought her a house and she put that shit in only her name...had her own car...so when they got divorced, HE had to find a new place. My sister is smart. lol
This is why The Breakfast Club is the best! They always are looking out for us listeners. Making sure we are well informed and well rounded. Great interview! Its like she knew everything about and was speaking to my soul within the first minute. As a young black women I do carry the load of so many and take care of Everyone. That's how I was raised but I want to be more financially responsible. Thanks for the Jewels Suzie Orman
Check out the total money makeover book by dave ramsey. It's written clearly and everything makes sense in 7 steps to getting out of debt and building wealth
Listen to her! I’m using my emergency fund right ow as I was laid off last year, and now I’m finishing my degree. Her advice has changed my life. I’m living below my means, credit card debt is under 1k now, and I’m investing in my future. She’s literally my financial idol. Love her!
I was in a deep depression because of money issues and dealing with my pride. Once I let that shit go though everything just started to fall in place. Once I realized that this is what life is then I pulled myself out of despair and trusted more in the Lord. Thank Jesus I didn't give up
Yes!! From one woman to another, keep going. Take her advice! I'm so glad I did listen to her years ago. I was diagnosed with cancer. But I had 6 months of emergency fund saved. So I didn't have to worry about paying my mortgage, utilities and insurance.
I started listening to her in 2001, along with others. I'm not rich, not wealthy, not poor, not middle class, but working class and financially stable because I stayed on a 15 year budget and still budgeting, and have everything I want and still able to save, I vacation travel every three months; that includes 4 day weekends. I don't use drugs, that includes weed, or expensive alcohol. No expensive sneakers, or clothes, but quality clothes, food, cars, and best of all LIFE.. peace yall..
I forgot all about her & stopped watching her years ago. I see a lot of people here saying she had some type of credit card scam. It's news to me. I just know that the advice she gave in her books helped people I personally knew & none of them ever had one of her credit cards.
Love Suze Orman. Read so many of her books. She’s part of my motivation for becoming an insurance agent. Our community needs to understand the benefit of investing in ourselves.
She's giving words of wisdom that I hope people listening to. We are sending generational poverty through to the generations behind us, while not investing properly in our children
Every 'expert' has their positives and negatives, but the basics of Suze's advice (ie: be responsible, avoid debt, have self worth) are totally sound. Great interview!
I needed this interview so bad. Answered so many questions for me. I feel like I could never pay my mom back enough even though she never co-signed anything for me she sacrificed herself financially for me and other people her entire life. Trying not to be that way but I will be for her.
Suze helped me get out of debt, save when I had NOTHING (I thought) make it through a charge off, live without credit cards and then learn how to utilize them, the importance of having a trust. I can go on and on. This was about 15 years ago On Saturday nights I would be in watching her show on msnbc rather than going out. I was a single mother of a young child. ❤️ her. “First people then money then things”
I have $108 thousand on my credit report for my son's college trying to do right for your kids. Now he doesn't speak to me. I will die with this debt, after not having any debt in the past. But God is still great. I will keep praying
I'm 35 years old and she said things about money that was an eye opener and very inspiring, I hope I can meet one of those women that's reading her book because is sucks being alone and lonely.
Y’all need to bring her back and have Angela on the clock. This interview was everything and she has great sense of humor. She said when you have millions of dollars and you’re alone on an island you have nothing to spend it on 🤔📝
I loved what she said about what's interesting about money is that "None of us talk about it but we all show it" ... "We show all this wealth to people, we show all this money every single day whether we have it or not" 💡 I instantly thought of Instagram
"You're not Money P . . . You're Master P." Great interview by Suze. As much as I've fu*ked up some of my money, I definitely need to take some of her advice and put it to use.
Love this education! I’m that momma who wanted to send her child away and out of state to college while working temp jobs to pay tuition. Sallie Mae will loan you money even though I reported being laid off from my temp job. Cracee! I’m glad I came across this BC interview. Definitely buying her book. Just signed up for her podcast. I’m ready to change my thinking and attitude on money. Thanks BC!!!
Brother Voodoo lol shut up, how come most men don’t know how to cook, clean and do other house hold things? I’m 22 and my husbands 40 been on his own since he was 18 And I still know more than him when it comes to cooking and cleaning and just basic things.
Yea daughters have it so rough! They are less likely to be homeless, more likely to live longer than men, will work work less hours in easier jobs than men, is less likely to die by homicide, die or get injured on the job than men, less likely to die from cancer and get more funding for cancer research than men, more likely to go to college or graduate from high school than men, have access to female only funding or programs, more likely to get a masters or doctorate degree, less likely to go to jail, and if she does, she is more more likely get a lesser punishment than men, more likely to file a divorce on her husband and more likely to get custody of her children and receive alimony, and she will have full legal reproductive rights
Single mothers raise their daughters and baby their boys. That's why young men raised in single parent households have those problems. Look at today's NBA players the ones that's so soft and cry all the damn time. You're the real MVP mom. That's sucker shit
Michelle Obama said the same exact thing...i agree that's why women exceed more in school and men have trouble beening competitive with other groups of men
Phenomenal interview.. So many money and life nuggets packed into this.. Not just for women. Inspired to take notes then take action. This drops so many tidbits about actually getting and having it together vs just appearing to have it.. Introspective, educational, engaging, entertaining.
Why do these Jewish people and individuals with connections alway try to down play the help they’ve received. She said, “we lived in a Jewish community,” then “they came together and gave me $50k. Listen to Lior Cohen’s interview. He said my mom got me a little job at a small Jewish Bank. He also said, “I did a show for $30k and I was short $800, so my parents gave me the rest.” Donald says, “I received a small loan of 2million from my father.” Just keep it 💯. I personally saved to get my business started and it wasn’t easy. I wish someone gave me $50. Not the I mention, $50k 30 years ago went slot further.
Not to mention the reason that the black mothers are being asked for money by their family members is because black people as a whole are systematically disenfranchised. Individuals that have financial assets and do as suze says and ignore the needs of those cause a greater collapse in the community around them. I am from a 3 generation college graduate family, my grandmother helped put her siblings through school and my mother, without her sacrifice our family would be a lot worse off. Diagnosing Black mothers as being selfless without acknowledging the context of why that is creates false financial independence and hurts the black community. In a world rigged against black people turning our backs of those in need will definately halt progress
The information she gave in the interview was solid. Big up to the ppl focusing on that. As always ppl want to undermine something by diverting ppl way back to the a scandal. Instead of encouraging ppl to further look up the things she's saying and to find a financial professional in their area to help sort out their affairs
henry ford she wasn’t given anything. She sold her vision of having her own restaurant for $50K. People bought in to where she was going. She lost the 50k and still make it back because she educated herself.
@@Aphrobella yes, absolutely! Creditors judge you on your ability to pay. Bankruptcy is physical proof that there was a problem paying. Hence they (other lenders) will not lend to you until you remove the negative accounts (reporting) on your credit profile. Email me, if you have more questions support@wemanagementinc.com. Antonne - school isn’t for everyone I agree but I think she and I made the right decision and neither one of us is in debt anymore. Worked out well but I can see where you’re coming from.
