Hi David, You explained about the techniques using the Tongue in a very easy educational manner better than a lot of other instructors that I've learned from. I'm 64yrs. old now and I play in a Duo with my Cousin he plays guitar & I play harmonica on the beaches of Florida we've been together for 12yrs. don't do a lot of blues but everything else. I started out playing accordion & then trumpet in the high school band. Then the Harmonica because it was easy to carry and I could sit in with blues jams which I did for years sounds like we had similar beginnings. Thanks the great you video! Larry (L.A.) Harp Player
I had the pleasure of attending David Barrett's Harmonica Masterclass workshop in Hawaii in the summer of 2002. One of the greatest experiences of my life. David is a maestro/virtuoso on the harmonica, and the premier teacher of blues harp. You want to learn blues harp, you cannot go wrong with David Barrett.
Wonderful interview David. Coming to bay area in the fall and I would love to meet up. I'm known for the beatbox harmonica and I continue to be inspired by all the great harmonica players and teachers around the globe. I've been blessed to inspire kids to pick up a harmonica and bring harmonica into the 21st century. peace and beatbox harmonica blues.
great video dave, some really interesting insight, i just disagree with you saying there is no more mystery to the technical aspect of harmonica playing, i think each new player offers something different that has not been done before so it's an ongoing learning experience. that's just my opinion though, you are the harmonica master so maybe i'm wrong lol. anyways really cool vid thank you for posting this Hohner.
