Beckham was a player that really loved playing for england at a time when most of the players saw it as an extra job, he saw it as a privilege and i can truely say it was a privilege growing up seeing a player like him lead england

Pity so many "english supporters" hated beckham. So what if he had a popstar wife, dodgy haircuts and "those" undies. He was one of out best ever players he could cross, he could take free kicks, he knew where the goal was and he played with passion, something we sorely lack today.

I'm not English but I really appreciate Beckham and how he played in an England shirt. Great to see someone with such passion when playing for his country. I don't think he gets the credit he deserves as a player, he really was brilliant.

The freekick Beckham scored against Colombia in France 98 surely has got to make the top 5, especially as that was 30 yards out and in a world cup! I definitely think that was a better goal than the freekick against Mexico and better than the goal against Macedonia.

I have taken a wander through the old England teams because of England beating Germany a nostalgic look you might say, I have never understood why so many people hated him, he is one of the finest ambassadors of the sport I have ever seen, so he married a popstar who already had a very successful career, he's got 4 fabulous kids, and yes they are both rich but they have also worked their butts off doing it. Taken a look at Gascoigne and I want to cry he had so much potential, but the love he had for the booze stopped him becoming one of the greatest.
