Hailing from Phoenix, Benavidez (24-0, 21 KOs) showcased remarkable hand speed, precision, and power, dominating Ellis (18-2-2, 12 KOs) of Lynn, Mass., throughout the 11 rounds until referee Johnny Callas halted the bout at 2:03 of the penultimate round.
