At least they are taking their "walk of shame" and are willing to admit they didn't make the best writing decisions. I believe George R. R. Martin is perhaps even MORE to blame for not guiding them better . . . and for not taking the time to finishing writing or at least OUTLINING a worthy ending. And these two did an AMAZING job of directing the series. Directing is not the same as writing, as we should all know. EVERYONE involved in the production of Game of Thrones, including the execs at HBO as well as Martin, let us all down! Also, I hope they WILL direct again. They are very talented men who brought us some of the best cinema I have ever seen.
@@staceypeterson8843 lol and you'd blame the original author for not releasing the original books so that these two dumbasses can adapt them into movies ? What the fuck is wrong with your head woman ? Even if GRRM didn't release the books, they had two years to write the script and believe me, it should have been better than dick jokes and stupid dialogues. Just because they can write a good script base on original material doesn't mean they are " talented ". I mean seriously, do you even know how stupid are you ? They ruined the show from a potential medieval fantasy adaptation into a stupid comedy sitcom. To be honest, what they are lacking is put in some fake ass laugh sound in every stupid scene with cringe dialogue 🤷🏻♂️
I'm gonna argue. Yes, they do have talent. Most of the show is amazing. They did fantastic job adapting the books and they deserve a credit for it. Adapting is not easy, if it was every book adaption would be great. Martin himself said that he wrote ASoIaF to be unadaptable and yet D&D managed to turn it into a brilliant TV series. As long as they had source material at least.
Are u fucking kidding, just because they made some major errors at last two seasons suddenly all their work on previous seasons are ignored? They are fantastic at their job they just botched some aspects on the end there, but you are the dumb one if you just disregard their entire work, lol, fucking idiot
@@kolapse320 Can't argue without resorting to profanities hmm? I used to pick on people like you growing up, one of them hung himself a couple of years ago. Maybe you should follow in his footsteps.. You miserable creep.
Nordic Gaming Nordic Gaming I’m aware that I’m trolling but I’m going to point out some flaws in this comment. 1. Your name is “Nordic Gaming” I highly doubt that someone with the intellectual capacity to come up with such a badass name could make fun of anyone to the point that they would off themselves. 2. You are more likely than not typing this from your parents basement still reeling from the emotional trauma caused by the last 2 seasons of GOT. You can’t possibly think that you could have come up with a better screen play. 3. I’m going to stick to the first thing I said about your nerd name.....I honestly found this video while spiraling down a rabbit hole confused that Amanda Peet is 48 years old and married to one of these guys. I haven’t watched GOT outside of season 2. Saving Silverman was a great movie. Kumbiyahah
@@nordicgaming2572 So you are saying you contributed to someone offing themselves and you are proud of it? Yet you call me miserable? But i’ll hung myself with one condition, you have to come here watch and get a very nice D&D plot twist where you get killed by a suicidal person instead.
You know what's sad. They are obviously not bad writers considering the early seasons and they were obviously fans so they knew what they were doing. They knew they were killing the biggest tv show ever yet they still did it.
Wishful thinking. Is you dad a former CEO of Goldman Sachs and BFFs with the head of HBO? 0:10 Benioff's dad is. These guys lied to GRR Martin, their directors, cast, production crew, fans and some of y'all still believe them 😂😂😂😂
HBO did offer them 10 seasons but these 2 idiots turned it down because of their Star Wars project only later they got fired by Kathleen Kennedy for their incompetence
@@hnys7976 Where were you then?! Why didn't you stop them from destroying the franchise? If you weren't so self-involved you could have spoken some sense to these guys and not let the show be destroyed. It's all your fault.
I am here in 2020 still in the mix of pain and outrage. What David Benioff and D.B. Weiss did to this show is abysmal. The show I loved, the show i was so thrilled about. The show which was making sense. Something beautiful and epic was destroyed. Season 7 was foreshadowing of what may come next, but at least I had hope that it was just my problem. Well it was not. It's a tremendous lost and shame that something such brilliant had caused such disgust in me. The last hope is in ASoIaF and I truly believe that one will not let us down. Stay strong and try not to forget all the fantastic moments the show gave us, before the winter came.
@Dabo Its a lot easier going bankrupt than it is becoming a millionaire. Their overconfidence will bite them in the ass when their next project flops. Next thing you know, they'll be broke when they can't afford their million dollar lifestyle anymore.
@@panorama4526 No way. If something goes against your principles, then you hate. If not, then you ditch your principles. If you have trouble then learn how to hate healthily, not completely wipe it out.
What gets me is even with the post S4 decline, even with the utter shitshow that S7 was, all they had to do was stick the landing with S8 and be remembered as the guys who helmed the most popular show in television history forever, but they managed to fuck it up so badly, that it completely killed even casual discussion about the show less than a year later.
It's actually a meta-story about subverted expectations. Think about it. Season one subverted expectations by killing Ned, who was ostensibly the protagonist. Seasons seven and eight subverted expectations by killing the show, which still hurts to this day. And it's the same in the books. GRR Martin will never finish them because that's his way of saying "fuck you" to the world. Power to them. I've never felt emotions like this before. Anyway, I have to go to therapy again.
Game of Thrones was for me, tucking into a delicious chocolate fudge sundae with all the different ingredients then discovering there's a turd at the bottom of the glass thereby making a mockery of what I'd eaten already. A masterpiece of a show ruined by writer hacks.
Was that turd at the bottom of the glass the death of Robb? Or Catelyn? Or only some of the later non-conventional turns of events that you decided to have more of a problem with?
I can't stand these clowns. What could have been my favorite show ever, now just brings me feelings of pain and disappointment. Such disrespect to a story that so many loved. Few things in this world make me as angry as these two.
Yeah it’s pretty painful. And few people at my work have asked me if they should watch it and my response is always “no”, not worth the disappointment.
I mean aside from the last seasons the first 4 seasons still remain TV Masterpieces, i recently decided to re watch first 4 seasons back when Game of Thrones was actualy game of thrones
These two were carried so hard by the source material and acting early on. if it wasn't for the theatre trained English actors (Sean Bean, Mark Addy, Charles Dance, Lena Headey) carrying every scene they were in it wouldn't have gained any popularity at all.
I’ve always hated how full of themselves they were in the end of episode interviews. Literally 99% of the genius concepts in G.O.T. came directly from George. And yet, in the interviews, they were cocky and braggy. They would describe scenes as if they personally thought of the idea. I can’t stand them. Even when the show was good, I couldn’t stand them and always saw straight through them.
"We have messed up the most kinda obvious story telling possibilities" no wonder the show was starting to get bad by Season 5 all the way to Season 8 and yet HBO thought it was perfect to hire these doofuses to write the show.
They were working on the show from the very beginning, you fucking idiot. It was great while they had the books and GRRM to lean on/leech off of. Then they had their own ideas.
@@encycl07pedia- I am very much aware of that thank you very much so no need to be a prick. Besides the fact that they couldn't write anything good without the book materials shows that maybe they just weren't the right people to write the show and should have gone to somebody who actually has genuine passion for the books and can come up with great ideas and story telling that feels like the books as opposed to being turned into a generic fantasy series where things just happens because the plot needs it which is NOT how the books work.
@@stefanradebach2889 Oh really? Then why did you make the comment as if Dumb and Dumber were hired on after the fact? What was HBO supposed to do? Fire them at the end of Season 4 because they'd magically know in advance that, according to you, they would be getting worse starting with Season 5? Nice run-on sentence, bro.
@@encycl07pedia- What i was saying that you ignored was that they shouldn't have been hired to do Game of Thrones in the first place if they only could follow up after Season 1-4 with barely the fraction of skill and talent that made the earlier seasons great and just release crap that didn't make any sense and reducing much of the world building that made the books great to the point that it felt more like a generic fantasy with none of the depth the books and the earlier seasons had because they seemed only great at adapting and not at writing new content for the series which to me feels like it should have been done by different people from the start who had a passion for the books and understood them greatly so that they could both adapt the books more faithfully into the show and write original content that were both great and had the spirit of the books.
They did fine with George's material but then they got greedy and instead of offloading the show to new show runners they insisted on rushing the finish so they could do their Star Wars gig and get all the Game of Thrones credit. I wish the worst for them.
They got their money and did not have the patience to finish it in in 3 or 2 more seasons like the story required. Also they did not have the grace to leave the project to another team as they wanted to move on. Such a wasted opportunity.
They took the glory. They now take the failure of their mistakes. They can never undo what they did but they had a chance with that 1 million signature petition but they refused. Audiences would not have minded if they ordered a new edit and brought back some cast to add in some conclusions as well as some simple edits. I've seen a season 7&8 fan edit which solved many of the issues so even without reshoots it could have been significantly improved. They are talented writers who are capable of good work and as show runners they could have prevented and or remedied the most common complaints. Anyone living in a post LOST industry had no excuses but they chose to behave in an arrogant and ignorant manner publicly and apparently behind the scenes. If you make obvious mistakes fix rhem and if you refuse then expect to shoulder the blame. The writers wanted to take the glory, awards and praise and go make star wars but that didn't happen because rhey started a fire rhey refuse to put out until it consumed their legacy. They lost the star wars and their Netflix deal and haven't worked since. They are still carrying toxic baggage and are untouchable for major projects as a result. Their still burning fire could consume any new projects. In their defence they ran out of books to adapt but that was inevitable and smarter show runners would have brought in genuine talent to fillin the gaps they clearly struggled with. Instead rhey just gave us two seasons of explosions and fire in an attempt to distract us from their disinterest. If rhey had only put the show and fans first over their egos and new deals... then all of this upset could have been avoided. They didn't and they paid...pay the price.
DONT YOU DARE CALL THESE DUMB SOMS OF BITCHES TALENTED. U SAID IT URSELF SO MANY ISSUES COULD BE FIXED EVEN WITHOUT RESHOOTS THEN ANY AVERAGE WRITER COULD PREVENT THESE ISSUES FROM EVEN FUCKING EXISTING. THESE PEOPLE SHOULD NEVER BE ALLOWED IN THIS INDUSTRY EVER AGAIN
I haven't watched the show since the last episode of season 8 aired. I still think about how much I loved the show until that season. Sure 7 wasn't great, and 6 was so so, but I would have rewatched the show over and over... before they killed it. They murdered my boy. They murdered my boy...
I finally just picked it up again for the first rewatch since season 8 released. My god, I love these early seasons! If you have it in you to ignore the final two seasons, just rewatch the other 6! Or maybe even just the first 4. Then you can pretend the rest were never made.
They monetized the book alright, but these idiots introduced random ideas that RUINED THE SERIES. The Ending matters, because now, NO ONE will remember the series with good memories.
Mark Parkinson I’m not sure you know what that words mean. The edits did not come off as very real or authentic. Instead they came off as choppy, because of the edits.
They had a chance to go down in history as one of the best known and respected duos in Hollywood history and now they'll be known as "Dumb and Dumber" for the rest of their careers.
they didn't just fail at properly ending it, I mean it felt intentional, like..not shitting yourself after drinking too much coffee but rather shitting in a bag and lighting it on fire and setting it on your neighbor's porch
The many cuts in this video remove the context. What they were saying is that the pilot was very bad and HBO had to pay to remake it. The most blatant mistake was that it wasn't indicated that Jamie and Cersei are siblings.
The comments are confusing me. You guys do know this was edited right? They didn’t actually say they have no talent and Jimmy actually didn’t antagonize them at every point.
Series 8 (the last two episodes in particular) is so bad. That have watched and rewatched previous season multiple times over the years, I can’t even bring myself to think about the show, Nevermind have interest in watching it again. Absolute morons. It should have been the greatest tv show of all time. But you need an ending for that. There was zero satisfaction.
They sabotaged themselves. They spit on the face of the fans, the people whom with enough hastags on twitter could decide if a show can be greenlighted or will be boycotted, and expect an easy escape? No sir, we are watching on you, and will make sure that every single project you take will have to choose between letting you go as writers or be boycotted.
I refuse to watch ANYTHING they put their hands on. Even before while George was helping them he said things how they were in the book and they shouldn't change parts and they argued with him and changed those anyway so George left all together. Good job you two nutjobs
“When we kinda forgot about the Game of Thrones and the fans” “When we kinda forgot that we are talentless hacks” “When we forgot that we ran out of source material, we forgot we sucked”
They had two large books 📚 SOS and DWD ,after season 4 they could've stretched out, to three more seasons, focusing on Dorn, Essos, and Lady Stoneheart, the possibilities were unlimited.
The cast suggested not to go in a specific direction with characters, they said we don't care. They ruined GoT, it was soooooo good and they spat on it.
These guys clearly didn't realize the full potential of this show. They wanted to take all the writing credit for themselves and in doing so ruined the series.
At this point, some of the great characters like Tywin, Ramsay, Ned, left the show at the right time, getting spared from the ridiculous fate/mutilation in season 7 and 8. The same cannot be said about other great characters that these hacks have ruined and changed beyond recognition (they even managed to ruin great villains such as the Night King, Cercei, Euron)
Its incredible and also pretty funny how an history which started with a man without pants in the middle of the desert ends a million times better than an history which started with some explorers trying to survive a white walkers attack
Like the thing I want to know is what happened to them exactly? Like these two showed so much passion all the way up to season 4 and then thing just kept going downhill from there. It's like they lost their passion for the show and characters or something. It's painful too see.
Till this day I still can’t get myself to finish a single episode of season 8. Could’ve been the greatest show ever. I hope the book gets finish and hopefully they remake that sad excuse of season 8 is.
they had a Star Wars trilogy lined up and all that was going around their brains was the Star Wars theme. and then when they screwed up and rushed the greatest show on TV the Star Wars show was cancelled. i wish we could go back in time and give someone else the reins, its clear that once these two got past the books they had no idea what to do.
So funny that they abridged 3 seasons into 6 episodes because they wanted the netflix/disney (Whatever) contract and Star wars. And now they don't have anything. HaHaHa and people say karma isnt real.
The stuffed up the ending in a big way I feel! It seems like all the effort to get to that point & the huge expectation & killing the dragon queen who really saved all their lives in the great battles (she risked everything not only for them but also john snow). To send John Snow off with his tale between his legs back to where he come from doing the night watch & give control of the kingdoms (6) to brandon who was nothing but an advisor at best was a really bad joke and an abomination to a truly great series. Very sad & disappointing.
Better call Saul just ended this season and that show was great. I feel bad for the game of thrones fans that didn't have that great ending they deserve.
Just look at them they're not even sorry for that. I remember I recently watched the Table read video of Game of thrones season 8 & this Weiss guy was standing across the table happy , smiling nd proud of what he has done. Are u for real dude ? Game of Thrones should have been ending now with 10th or 12th season with a good/intense ending according to the story. F them both.
