... proof that the internet doesn't have to be a wasteland of stupidity and hate... David Bowie and Robert Smith sharing a stage... This. Is. Glorious.
I can tell Robert really enjoyed himself up there. Bowie did good picking Smith as one of the artists for this concert.Their voices complement each other and I'm sure Robert was honored. =)
I think Robert Smith has been influenced so much by David Bowie,so imagine how he must have felt! He seems so happy! And what can we say about David Bowie, a true legend! Perfection!!!
Scott Barnett I feel Robert Smith is an original songwriter - with musical influences. Same with David Bowie. Would love to see the rest of this concert online, would loved to have been there!
Scott Barnett I think Robert and David are equals as songwriters but in very different ways as Bowie influenced Robert in “creating a world that was of my own making” in Robert’s words
That look from Bowie to Smith at 9:39 and the subsequent smiles. Two supreme musical artists knowing exactly what they're doing, how bloody great it is and enjoying it. Cherish this performance.
"here's a friend ... guy from England with ... one, one of the best i think, most excentric british bands, i've been a huge fan of this for years, this is Robert Smith from the Cure...." Thank You David for this tribute to my favourite band! And Reeves has definetly become a Cure member now
Could never speak for Robert Smith, but were I in his shoes, this performance would have to be one of my favorite moments in existence! 2 of the world's greatest on stage together.
And to think he will be a massive influence on the next cure album. It's coming, it's only a matter of time. I can see tri album release, it's been long enough.
Amazing tribute from David Bowie to Robert Smith and The Cure. Robert Smith seems so happy and smiling ! Very successful. Their voice together is a good idea. And the drummer is just PERFECT ❣👍👍👍. It's a real pleasure to see them having fun and doing a very good job together. Amazing ❣ Friendly from France 🙋♀️🙂
David Bowie was the third point in my holy trinity: Beatles, Hendrix, Bowie. They all entered my life at crucial stages and had major impact on me. There is a link between them and all the other bands and performers that led me to embrace the Cure as well. I'm a better person because of them all. Peace
Un duo très réussi. Pour ses 50 ans, Bowie à eu l'excellente idée de chanter ces 2 chansons avec Robert Smith. Les 2 voix se complètent. J'adore. Mention spéciale pour le batteur extraordinaire ❤❤
Fantastic performance! I'm totally digging on "The Last Thing You Should Do" here, with Reeves and Robert jamming together... this is where they met, and how Reeves came to join the Cure in 2012. But, man... Zachary Alford on the drums is just KILLING it! Fantastic!!!
I'm so late coming to this clip... but boy am l glad I found it... Quicksand is one of those early Bowie song that was always a favourite... but what a version of it... sitting with chills, hairs standing up on my arms and tears in my eyes... thanks you for this video post..🙏
Fabulous duet. David at his all time most beautiful / sexy / alluring. My pulse races to the energy of this amazing performance. They complement each other perfectly. Fly high David. Will love you forever. Thanks for all the joy
Their voices mess so perfectly. I hear this in comparison with what's being pushed on us in the music world and all I have to asked myself is what the hell hell happened to real creativity. This was awesome.
David....the gifted entertainer who always had room for other gifted performers.....Wonderful to see Robert Smith so pleased to share the stage with this very definite musical icon, but be his own brilliant self........Miss you David.....This is ground control...can you hear me Major Tom.....
Just so much talent. Raw genuine unadulterated real talent. So natural. No auto tune for these two. God music just isn’t the same anymore; it all feels so synthetic.
+Elie Tchanaque ..music is "picture of you" by cure, and "love sick" by dylan, and "uncle floyd" aka "slip away" by bowie, and "heaven" by daniel biro, and "alphaville" by ferry….video is "heaven" by daniel biro and "quills" by phillip kaufman.
I just put in David Bowie and Robert Smith and I knew that they must have worked together at some point since they are two of my all time favorites. I wasn't disappointed.
THATS A WELL DESERVED SHOUT OUT TO THE CURE.THEY SOUND GREAT TOGETHER MUSICCALY THEY ARE BOTH EQUEL,POETIC,PLAYING AND SINGING LIVE THEY BOTH SHARE GREAT MUSIC THOUGH BOTH DIFFERENT BOTH ARE WONDERFUL......
Duo fantastique ! J'adore ! 🖤🎤🎸🎼🎶
This. And then you turn the radio on, and these days music is so bad it makes you cry... Thankfully our preferred radio station at work plays Bowie three times a day - every day.✌
How have you all hidden this from me for so many years? Absolutely love this. RIP David, and Robert I hope we agent the chance to hear the new album soon.
Holy shit, how did I not know this existed until now??? I have no words and am emotional with this performance and these words...Music will get you through life
Hearing two of my heroes play one of my favorite songs in the world (quicksand) is so beautiful. I can't describe the beauty my ears have just witnessed
Been a fan of the Cure for 35 years. Only really got into Bowie 20 years ago, great tribute David, and you sound great together. RIP, music just isn't the same without you...
Totally my favorite Bowie project. I think it’s brilliant in every way. The song ‘Seven Years in Tibet’ always hits hard. It’s one of my favorite songs.
Oh man that drummer Zachary Alford. I used to play in an amateur rock band but this man makes me very humble.. Gail Ann, Reeves and Robert, thanks!! There's nothing that comes close nowadays,
So we have Bowie, Robert, future Cure guitarist Reeves Gabrel, and the lovely Gail Ann Dorsey on bass synth. This is basically a dream team for both parties.
What a fantastic duet. I love them both , they are true legends. BTW for his 50th birthday David could afford a new dress ,and not full of holes. 🤣 No I really say my heart is pounding when I listen to my beloved David ... and Quicksand is a real magic ⚡️
