David Bowie interview with Kerry O'Brien on Australian TV program "7.30 Report" broadcast in 2004. Re-broadcast on TV program "Rage" on 15 January 2016 as part of a tribute to David Bowie. RIP.
+sysplex He did not look quite so fantastic just a a year or two later anymore. His heart disease and the medicines he took for it had done their deal.
@@LauraVanadzina he still looked pretty damn good. The photos of him towards the end, when he's on the rooftop with the hat on - he still looked dapper and beautiful.
I didn't get into Bowie until a few months ago, and I've been obsessively learning about him ever since. He was such a lovely, intelligent, interesting, and polite person. It's more than upsetting to think that he's gone now, and that I didn't appreciate him until afterwards.
That is exactly what I'm going through right now. I really only became familiarized with him a few days ago, and right now I'm obsessed in finding as much material about him as possible. It really proves how he can impact people even after he's gone. He's left such an unforgettable mark on entertainment history.
Colonel Walter E. What's wrong with becoming a fan after his death? Do you want him to be forgotten? Dumbass. I hope many people still start listening to Bowie even now that he's gone
How lovely was David Bowie? He was asked over and over again about Ziggy Stardust- to the point where many would have just blown their stack, but David was just so patient about it- he was a rare and lovely artist and gentleman.
I also love how he owns his mistakes and dark moments like the fascism flirtations and cocaine addiction, he doesn't try to play it off or deny it, he's honest and forthwith about it.
He was simply amazing..what a true artist, what beauty, inside/out, such intelligence, the twinkle in his eyes..this man was a pure master. will always love him...the pain of missing him, will forever go on. Thank you for posting this...I miss you painful David...pls come back and tell us what it was like...LOVE U ALWAYS. ..
This interview makes me sad, I see him stretching his chest many times, now knowing that later this year he had a heart attack because of a blocked artery. I adore this beautiful man so very much and am eternally grateful for the music and also interviews like this that showcase not just his physical beauty but also his inner beauty and intelligence. xxx
I noticed him stretching his chest a lot too. I thought I read somewhere that he told one of his band members that he had been having chest pains, but not to tell anyone.
I’d not thought if that. You might be right. I used to do that while I was still smoking. Angina & anxiety played tunes in my chest. I did 25y, stopping at 43 (I’m now 60 & have run marathons...but created no art :))
Love this interview he is so humble honest he always seems quite relaxed with Australian interviews and of course he is absolutely gorgeous love him and his music it's been 8 months since he died and I can't get enough of him. Love him more all the time
What a great interview of a happy and funny David Bowie... I'm so glad he left this world as a very content and happy man. I don't think anyone will ever be able to be as creative and out there as David was though unfortunately, he was one of a kind and someone who is missed greatly by myself and the masses alongside his family. He will live on though within us and through his music.
I loved that he never truly got over his Anthony Newley obsession. It's almost forgotten now but at the time (1961) Newley's West End and Broadway hit 'Stop the World, I Want to Get Off' was as big a 60s pop art statement as any of the more currently celebrated 60s moments. The idea of a similar piece with rock (instead of show-tune) music, especially if it was by Bowie, is still mouthwatering.
Anyone still fucking DOUBTING that Bowie is NOT an "alien" should be totally CONVINCED now!!!... There is no fucking way a 57 year old man here on Earth can manage to look this FLAWLESS!!!... His allotted time on Earth ended at the age of 69... Such number having MAJOR SIGNIFICANCE since in 69 is when he started gaining the recognition he knew he was meant to accomplish as part of his MISSION here on Earth... The STARMAN who fell to Earth from who knows what "planet" or "solar system" sadly had to eventually return to where he came from but not before BLOWING our minds with his INCREDIBLE GENIUS!!!..
+RETURN IF POSSIBLE ( R-I-P ) DAVID BOWIE GREATEST MUSIC VISIONARY & INFLUENCE OF 90% OF BANDS I LOVE. Botox, plastic surgery and new teeth and no doubt expensive hair treatment. He was looking aged in the mid 90's. A beautiful man in any case.
+RETURN IF POSSIBLE ( R-I-P ) DAVID BOWIE GREATEST MUSIC VISIONARY & INFLUENCE OF 90% OF BANDS I LOVE R-I-P = RETURN IF POSSIBLE - it's really most correct way to read it speaking about David. Great idea, thank you.
+Doug BM I think that's a LOAD OF SHIT what you're stating about David having had all those so-called "procedures"!!!.... Please, it is so fucking OBVIOUS that he's aged the way he has here NATURALLY!!!.... Celebrities that have had "work" done usually look way WORSE afterwards and in some cases downright GROTESQUE!!!... Making the "need" to resort to "plastic surgery" fucking HILARIOUS!!!... He was HOT at any age!!!....
+RETURN IF POSSIBLE ( R-I-P ) DAVID BOWIE GREATEST MUSIC VISIONARY & INFLUENCE OF 90% OF BANDS I LOVE But afraid, in my bad case even I-P doesn't work. lol Just "R-R-R, Bowie" ever. Still can't acsept fact he left us here without him.. I think, DB ever took care about himself well and it right way for things to go when you get a piece of art instead a usuall human face and body. He was irresistable at any age indeed, untill the very end. Not just a man, but pure joy and genius, deadly miss him.
Any interview I've seen with David Bowie has always been classy, interesting, mesmerizing and informative. What a great sense of humor he had!!! He will always be my idol ❤ Love him forever.
Let me preface my comments by saying DB is one of my heros. That said, I've seen many interviews in which he didnt suffer fools gladly. It depended on the interviewer.
listen what he is telling in 2004. He wants to write a musical. 2015 Lazarus! 11 years later. That was on his bucket list. Looking at his smile and hearing his voice, it makes my day a glorious day. David I miss you, very very much.
I would have loved to sit at the bar and split a pitcher of beer with this man. So sorry that he is gone now. No one will ever be able to fill the void.
In a whole class of his own, the King of Glam Rock, not to mention very humble and intelligent: The Irreplaceable David Bowie. Also looks much younger than his 57 years here, looks 12 years younger. Can't believe it's nearly two years since he passed. The world lost a legend in January 2016. RIP, Mr Bowie. Your music and films will live on.
I'm so happy for him that he got to do Lazarus. I hope it fulfilled that long-held wish of his. He never got to produce Diamond Dogs/1984 the way he wanted but given his constraints that was pretty great too, and Ziggy was quite the production too.
From a broadcasters and programmers stand point David could never ever do anything wrong and like the audience we love and respected anything David did. No one will ever be what Dávid Bowie is to our world. Our universe....the underground band he started that lives forever ....Open Eye Universe ...the Bowienet was far beyond fb before fb
David is such an amazing person I wish interviewers would have stopped asking him about Ziggy all the time. He always loved living in the moment and each album was his favourite at the time he made it. He should have been asked so many more interesting questions as he was truly a genius of our time, let alone music wise.
RETURN IF POSSIBLE ( R-I-P ) DAVID BOWIE GREATEST MUSIC VISIONARY & INFLUENCE OF 90% OF BANDS I LOVE Yeah me to.. and I really hope that it's not going to be like Michael Jacksons last album!!
He is (was) such an inspiration. Creative, articulate, intelligent, his curiosity about life and experiences served him well & inspired others. I've seen interviews with iman where she basically says he helped open up her sense of curiosity also...
Thanks so much for posting this interview, when i saw this on Rage in January in a Tribute night that went for 6hrs straight, i tried to search for this interview but couldn't find it. Rage played everything and so many interviews that he did here in Australia, including a 3 or 5min showing of DB in the "Elephant Man" on Broadway ( i wish that was on DVD). Please don't ever take this interview down. RIP David, i miss you so much.
+TheFourOfNine I have uploaded The Elephant Man from Rage for your viewing pleasure! Sorry it took so long - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-cPithDmHrd0.html
I think a lot of his songs have this musical attitude, on text level and also on his voice and singing attitude, it has a dramatical, theatric expression.
Awe he mentioned the Ziggy tour being "18" months....and just wanted it over. He knew, he always knew what was coming ahead ...deep inside that Starman was definitely living LIFE on Mars but so grounded to this earth and curious - he was a true Gem human being. Thank you David Bowie you will always be an amazing man/artist - total package. Hearing him speak about his legacy brought on the the tears.... AGAIN!!!
Would have liked to hear him expound on that. A lot of country western seems to be based in generating an image that the songs and sometimes performers attempt to portray, which apparently is very similar to how Bowie developed his music... the difference being that country is based on actual or potential life events versus the more fantastic imagery that Bowie used. Maybe he found it too narrowly focused musically to be of interest to him, but I would have liked to hear his reasoning rather than trying to speculate.
I find it both funny and admirable that David had been polite about answering these same questions and had told the same old stories for decades. I'm pretty sure it annoyed him to some extent but he was too polite to show it. But I'm sure he knew that that's just how it is.
Great interview but as we know David forgets things from the past. Saying Ziggy only played the UK & the States. Afraid he forgot to add Japan. Love on ya David.
+ziggygas rovers f.c Well I doubt he really forgot as much of Ziggy drew from Japanese influences especially his costumes by Japanese designer Kansai Yamamoto .
.......you really had great haircuts david, and i wonder who had all these different ideas for all the different hairdoos through decades...not your hairdresser i guess.. ..my favourite was THE THIN WHITE DUCKE blond.-reddish ,combed backwards.....
