What people fail to realize when comparing David to modern day pop sensations, is that Bowie will out live all of them. Not physically, of course, but when it comes to the imprint made on society. David Bowie has influenced so many artists in so many different ways and has made a lasting impression on countless of lives. So yeah, right now he may not be in the spotlight compared to others, but 30 years from now whose actions will still be shaping our pop culture at the time?
People comparing David to anything modern day pop fail at having style or dignity or any awareness of what has been going on in pop music for ages now etc. If I was rude I would say that most of modern pop artists would need to have begged to clean his shoes back in the days - but I'm not. However, I'm afraid in 30 years time everything will be different. Even the music/music business scene - David, among other music greats might get forgotten. But, whatever: I feel honoured to live in the same times as he did. I always have a drink for David on January 8th cause his birthday is a day before mine. On Jan 8 2016 I celebrated his birthday and Blackstar release. On Jan 9 2016 I enjoyed Blackstar and celebrated my birthday present from David. On Monday morning Jan 11 my friend texted "I have terrible news". R.I.P. David, you're greatly missed each and every day.
This legitimately made me cry. - proving your point further, he will always connect with people’s hearts, he will be a part of millions families, he will make them tear, laugh and strive for more. 🖤
I...absolutely love the bassline in this song. And Gail Ann Dorsey, as always, is an absolute beast on it. I'm just starting to learn bass now (in no small part because of Bowie) and Gail Ann is an inspiration.
Her Under Pressure performance is leggit incredible. She's not only playing that iconic John Deacon bass line but nails Freddie Mercury singing parts pouring her heart into it doing it justice dueting with Bowie, I love Annie Lennox but this is the best live rendition I've ever witnessed.
I remember this tour, I was 9 and I saw him play! It was my very first concert right before my 10th birthday and its something I'll never forget. I've been a huge fan since I was 5, his music inspires me and never fails to bring a smile to my face ^^ thanks for all the fantastic music David!!!
David Bowie is the best Lyricist of all time. I am 53 now and never tire from listening to his music. Check out the Lyrics on The Space Oddity Album and the Man Who Sold The World, to name but a few. Rock On Bowie.
I saw him on one of the last dates he'd play for this tour, a mere month before his heart attack. He was amazing live, I feel so lucky to have seen him in time.
+xelena Same here! Saw him in May 2004 at what would be his last ever concert in Kansas City. It was my first and last time seeing Bowie. No words! He played us 30 songs in 2.5hrs, just incredible. RIP Dave
i dont know how suprising the heart attack was considering.., what, like a year on the road, very VERY long shows and he seemingly did not hold back, performances: awesome, does not look like most of the ageing artists like lets just do the hits and cash out, voice: yes he could and did not play it safe with the setlist. hell, even i would have had a heart attack and im a healthy and in my thirties. mad respect! crazy dude. gotta love it, Bowie rocks.
One of my favourite Bowie songs, best opener to an Album ever, and I'm not much of a Reality fan. Wonderful live performance! Such a mess of guitars, loved it so much! Bowie Rocks Forever ❤
Man, Gail is always rocking that bass! This is definitely one of my favorite Bowie songs. Full of energy and incredibly catchy. Love this video, too; David is so lively and fun :^)
I almost got to see Bowie's Reality tour, but then he was to I'll. So sad but I have the entire concert on D.V.D , so I can always see how wonderful he was and spiritually, musically and thanks to videos, he still lives on! I love him!!! 💖💖💖🎶
He out blurred BLUR !!!! Here. He took classic blur chords and made a f ing rocking song. Just amazing. He entered and took over any genre of pop jazz rock name it. He did it. …… He appreciated music so so so much …………
