Station to Station is forever his masterpiece in my opinion. Six tracks and Bowie croons, howls and pours his heart out on some of the most layered, soulful and funky instrumentation on a pop record. It sounds like some kind of cry for help. Most impressive of all, he was so doped on coke he couldnt even remember recording the masterpiece!

EzioMonty117 to be fairly honest I can't really stand TVC15. I get the story behind the song, what with Iggy and all his nefarious shenanigans, but it's just, the repetitive aspect mixed with the annunciation in the song just kinda leaves me feeling strange, for lack of a better word. It just doesn't flow very well for me. Everything else is just great though. Truly an amazing little twisted work of cocaine psychosis and inspiration. In my top 5 by him.

I love how often you feature the Polaris album in the background. You should really do a retrospective on that album and the musical influences of the Adventures of Pete and Pete (I mean like Iggy Pop played a character in the show c'mon).

Heard it for the first time in maybe 10 years the other day and when i was younger i could not really appreciate it that much i preferred by far Hunky Dory. The other day it blew my mind and now i think it is his best album.

@@davidcopson5800 There are a lot of people like this--especially people who play instruments. As a long time guitarist, I tend to listen to the instrumentation/melody of a song more. The vocal acts as more of another instrument to me. Lyrics will make an impression if they're really good or really bad. Artists that have strong lyrics, but music that doesn't match the lyrics' gravitas, does nothing for me see: Arcade Fire. Meanwhile, I can barely understand a word of My Bloody Valentine "Loveless" and it still moves me.

Are classic reviews a reflection of your personal favourites or more a compiling of music considered to be great by the mainstream music media that you have selected to feature? If it's the latter it would be pretty cool to see a list of your personal favourites from over the years, featuring records that you love regardless of excessive mainstream acclaim. :)

After watching the In Utero Review and now this I'm able to see that fame was a major motive in these 2 records. However Bowie and Nirvana chanelled it very differently. Bowie made a big, pompous Epos- like record. Nirvana made a hell of a trainwreck. The lyrics on both records especially on In Utero have a general dark tone. Both records opened the doors for many listeners as they made them explore other genres . All I want to say is thank you Anthony for your sincere and passionate reviews of those two masterpieces

Someone has probably said this, but he's missing velvet goldmine, John im only dancing, and suffragette city. Obviously they weren't mentioned because theyre additional tracks (well suffragette city wasn't specifically written for this album) but it would've been nice if you gave them a quick mention
