+Jimmy N13 because its a completely different style of comedy. So far, i haven't in my life met anyone, that would like office uk, let alone prefer it to american, which seems to be fairly popular amongst my friends. Apparently the british one is too cringey and boring for their tastes. The british one was created with boredoom sown in to remind the viewers they're watching a documentary of real characters, not a simple show with scripted dialogue and such. Office uk tries to be natural, and thats why I Love It!

American version is more of a sitcom. British version is more real. I prefer the British version by miles but I like to watch the US version as a sitcom. It's good there are both. Also the UK version would be too short by US standards. They really like to milk their IPs. They need 100s of episodes
@MalnourishedGoat
@MalnourishedGoat Месяц назад
@@robertwilson3866 Brent is an outlandish character, but still within the realm of possibility (I've met a David Brent in real life and was shocked). Garrett is the closest character to being too outlandish to be real, but there are still many people in real life similar to him... he's just a bit more exaggerated. And yeah, Keith is an oddball. Those three characters are the only "wacky," characters on the show. Every other person in the Office seems completely real and believable. So when you insert a bonkers character like Brent into realistic situations with realistic characters, the comedy is cringe at its absolute finest! By the end of the American version, every single person in that office was weird, offbeat, insane, goofy, unrealistic and ridiculous. There was not one single normal person that worked in that office. If Brent did his dance in the US Office, they'd all probably start dancing along with him.
@robertwilson3866
@robertwilson3866 Месяц назад
@@MalnourishedGoat Yes agree about the US version but I actually enjoyed that once Steve Carrel had left. It was more of a sitcom like you say and was good on it's own merits. I remember a US sitcom called "Who's the boss" and they made a UK version called "The Upper Hand" with exactly the same scripts! So we are def guilty of this too. At least the US office is different enough to be worth watching.

3:10 Gervais is a natural talent, when it comes to acting. He really knows the Human psychic through and through. So he can communicate with the audience without actually saying one word , just through body language . The viewer is the only perspective, who sees his insecurity regarding his body weight. The moment the woman enters the room , Brent immediately tucks in his stomage to look thinner.

brent is a projection of many character traits and insecurities within male adults.Whats interesting is, the way he copes with them in front of a camera crew fo the documentary. We all see something that is too close to home within David Brents character, hence the awkwardness we feel watching David Brent make a fool of him self without realising the full extend . David brent is aware, that he is not the most popular person in the world, so this is why he tries even harder to present himself as a popular guy in front of the TV-Crew. So he becomes a caricature of someone, he aspires to be.
