It's just amazing that these songs start somewhere like in a jail cell, 60 or so years ago... Now it's 2023, I'm playing with friends here in my small town and our so gifted young vocalist has sort of discovered this song, and now I just know we're going to build it up and put our own local stamp on it... And so it continues Blessings to all who have been touched by this song
Bromberg backed Jerry Jeff on the famous WBAI live session. As much as I love David, I still think that Jerry's sad voice captured the essence of this better, but that' just me...
Thank you for posting this. I'm going to see him on Friday night in Clearwater, FL. I've been following his performances since the 1970's when I lived in Philly. I am so incredibly excited, I can hardly wait! :-)
Firstly, I loved Jackyboy Jerry Jeff Walker, the Scamp, cause he sang right to my soul just like Sam Cooke. Beside the great songs he wrote, he recorded other folks songs and he made them his songs too. Keep rolling Jerry Jeff.
He played at a club in Boston in the late 70s & reminded the audience to please tip the waitresses pointing to my wife saying, “Look how skinny that waitress is.”
