That was wonderful! I loved your technique and phrasing, tempo and dynamics. I also especially liked the registrations. Thank you! This is my favorite Bach Prelude and Fugue!

Back again to enjoy this work and your magnificent playing. I am a great believer in memorizing music and here it shows this playing is from the soul ! Beautiful ! Merci pour le partage !
Bravo David !et encore emu de vous avoir rencontre a Lorient cet ete au masterclass organisé par teddy;et d avoir contribue a insuffler un supplement d ame a notre ville mutilee par la guerre.
Just beautiful... IS this a competition piece... sooo many young FABULOUS organists are playing it NOW... David... you sound wonderful... light taste rubato... while still keeping the over all structure VERY steady... and yet you play with LIFE and energy... which is missing in soooo many performers today... You've got a big fan in me... and... there's something very subtle... and very classy about your performance...
Excellent ! La composition de cet instrument a été mûrement réfléchie et bien faite pour le répertoire baroque. Il sonne fort bien ! Merci pour le partage.
Unless you already are - you are an up and coming titular of some magnificent cathedral organ. Lovely playing and videos and thanks for taking the time - its greatly appreciated.
Enjoyed this immemsly. Am currently learning the piano interpretaion written by F Lizst so it was nice to hear the origional score done on the Organ. What a beautiful piece! Thanks for posting!
An organ teacher stopped me once during the fugue and reminded me I wasn't doing ballet, but killing snakes. Never forgot that one. Still makes me smile.
L'église est vide ....quel dommage pour une si belle interprétation . Je craignais que cet orgue soit rétif à Bach (cf festival d'orgue 2014 ) ......je suis rassuré , ce n'est pas le cas , Bravo .
G. Romero, I am sorry for my inadequate English. It is nothing wrong with the "thumbs down people." It is 300 years since this music was composed. During the 1800 century, the knowlegde about how to perform baroque music in its original form was almost forgotten. After WW2, more and more people find it interesting to make attempts to restore this old music. There are two meanstreams of listeners: 1. People who are not interested in restoring, and 2. People like me, who think it is important to make attempts to bring this music closer to the original baroque style. Right now, 9. April, there are 616 thumbs up, people who don't care about restoring, and 24 who prefer the music closer to the original style.
@@geiryvindeskeland7208 what would be a rendition in a more authentic style? I would like to hear that for my musical education. Any help you can give would be appreciated. Thanks 🙏
Matt M, I am sorry for my inadequate English. It is always difficult to read between the lines, are you ironic or not? Well, I wondering - don’t you have any organ teacher? The HIP-tradition is many many years old now, so your teacher should be able to give you the information about restoring.
@@geiryvindeskeland7208 no no NO, I’m not being ironic at all. I don’t study organ. I was a trained pianist, but many years ago (graduated 1983) and I have not kept up with current scholarship in baroque performance practice. I just wanted to learn from you what a more authentic performance style would be for BWV 543. That’s all. But only good wishes for you, no irony from me.
Matt M, Listen to Christian Barthen’s performance duration 09:25. In my opinion he make an attempt to bring this compositions closer to the original style. Notise the clear difference in tempo between the Prelude and the Fugue. The Prelude with time signature C is some slower than the time signature in the Fugue, 6/8. And Barthen play the entire Fugue on one manual, different from many organists who don’t care for restoring. In fact, the voices in the fugue allowing us to change manual in the fugue, but it is not possible to go back to the first manual! In Bach day, many people knew how to listening to fugues, they did not need the kind if variation by changing manual. But in our days, almost no oneknows anything about fugues and how to listening to them. Therefore they ask for variations, else they get tired of listening to the same sound trhough the entire fugue. Unfortunately - Christin Barthen don’t like Bach’s origianlity how to end the fugue. He skip the composers idea and gives us an ordinary dull boring ritardando instead. So for the final measures, please listening to Christoph Schonberger’s performance, he trust the great composer and finish the fugue in an exellent way! And I am sorry for my inadequate English
all is the best even the organ sound! the church is amasing, but organ prospect not sutable for this church, only for beton bunker.. architect of this organ case is very mentaly sick!
