Greetings from Germany! To all my American friends out there: Germany is a country IN Europe. Just want to clarify, that ALL Americans think that Europe is a country
There's a similar movie story about 3 guys who travel together in the South American jungle. True story. It's called Jungle from 2017. Starring that guy from Harry Potter.
Let’s not get distracted from the fact that there is still a community of pigmy people in the Congo who believe an Alien visited them asking about the local dinosaur
Imagine somewhere in the Congo right now are some writings or drawings of that one time in the late 90s that an Asian descended from above to let the village touch his face.
It was bugging me so much trying to think of who he reminded me of but I kept trying to think of real people from school or various jobs, lol! It would have been a hilarious sight if he did look like this when he was1 Lost in the jungle all scared holding his tail and shit quivering and blubbering with the German bossing him around punking him off for tuna and crackers!
I have watched this probably 12 times already and I gotta say, David is such an amazingly intelligent and inspiring human being. He tells a story so well, it's awesome! I hope he comes back to the show again lol.
I watched the Joe Rogan clips. I got a weird impression from Davis stories. I read some comments and did some snooping and discovered his stories were bullshit. In that order.@@ElMensajero-hs4qz
Sounds exactly like something two 19yrolds would come up with. You have to put this in context. You're 18 and decide to go dinosaur hunting because of something you read in National Geographic. I don't think they are operating on a high "excuses" level when telling people who they are.
The look in his eyes when he shifts the subject about how much of a dick that guy was. That's why he wouldn't say his name. Also, he did it in another country, no witnesses, no laws...yea
When you look at how many different spots he has been in and tribes he kicked it with, I believe you are right. He was probably well equipped at that point to do so
sfairraid 13 they were legit friends? You must never had a friend you admired that died Also, theres a huge difference between anti social and sociopath
sfairraid 13 The German ate the last ration several times and he has no blonde hair in the picture even though he says so. He just seems untrustworthy to me
@@denmark39 he said that he had blonde hair the first time he went (the dinosaur expedition with the german), the picture was taken during the 2nd trip he made (was asked to go back with a camera crew)
Hi Joe I'm 63 mexican living in ny for long time i just wanted to let you know that I love your channel you have people telling they stories.....God bless
I have never came across a human that I wanted to know everything about from birth until now. I not only want to meet this man, but I want to sit with David and hear his entire life story. ❤❤❤
LOL it was pre 9/11.....ive pulled some crazy shit at airports in the 90s now that I think about it. Kids today who don't kno what life was like Pre 9/11 will never understand real freedom
I love how he says he doesn’t want to cuss and then he starts dropping F bombs😂😂 I don’t personally like when I swear, but it is often great for people who want to express themselves strongly - and this is an emotionally tough situation. Never stop being who you are Mr. Choe!!
@@maryagyemang9870 1:30 - 'Most of the other people there are from Australia and South Africa. And what I love about them is they're so racist that they don't even know they're racist; like, I'm the only Asian guy there and they're like "Nintendo!", "Sega Genesis!", I'm like "I've got a name." and they're like "No, you're name's Nintendo." and I'm like "Ok.".
Talking about finding a dinosaur in 95 and murdering a German with a rock and meeting a Pygmy and The one thing that doesn’t seem believable to joe is the tree being 200 ft tall. 😂😂😂😂😂
Hell yes. I almost feel like he doesn’t want to, though, because of the painful memories that would resurface from his early life. Then again, it could potentially be therapeutic if he did. I hope Dave considers it; maybe his story can inspire more people to overcome pain and live more fulfilled lives.
somewhere in Germany there is a politician on a talk show telling the story of this time he was in the Congo, trying to help an Asian American keep focused in a dire situation while the poor fellow lost his mind talking to trees...."it was not easy, I had to stay on him and ride him pretty hard, but I got him out of there...."
He hits the nail on the head and people don’t believe me when I say this…..The system that’s your little false bubble of security….can collapse over night, no matter where you are. It can and will happen one day. What an amazing humble, interesting guy. What an amazing podcast! This one is definitely on the download!
David: "I get to the congo and it smells like burning trash, there's a civil war going on, bullets are flying through the air, I'm seeing people murdered by hanging and stoning, I was even attacked once, and I'm in fear for my life...…….. So now I'm thinking...…...I HAVE GOT TO FIND THIS DINOSOAR" I love this man.
I know you weren't making any negativ comment but it makes so much sense to me that he thought that. Imagine doing something so reckless arriving there and realising what you have done you would hope the crazy risk you are taking is worth it
@Gap yeah man I feel like he's disappointed in himself he became so self aware at a later age. I feel like if he found himself sooner he wouldn't be so down. He's still tryna find himself
who just goes to the congo and walks into the jungle with no guide, no direction, nothing? Wow. And he's here right now, how unbelievable. An incredible dude.
@@thatdude3130 what are you talking about? I'm praising an amazing and incredible man. Do you always tell people to calm down when they admire someone?
I watched some of the videos from when David went into the Congo. It was on vice. David looks so much better with his hair long and blonde. This man is such an awesome story teller.
I thought the not finishing high school was a compliment. As in look what this guy has done how fantastic. You don't need to finish high school to achieve stuff. I am from the UK so I'm probably missing some nuances here. But awesome guy never the less. Much respect.
Really? I thought he was rather self absorbed, lacking in humility and almost racist. (If it was a white chap using the same racial generalisations as he did, I'd be sure of it).
@@sliperysid what are u talking about? how is he being racist? He was the one saying how wherever he went he was a victim of racial discrimination. Strange I'll watch again but I didn't see that at all
@@richardchikosi4320 David Choe and famous pornstar Asa Akiras podcast, think the last episode came out in 2015. David went kinda mental for a few years after that and has tried to remove every episode from the internet but they keep getting reuploaded
I love this guy. I didn’t go looking for dinosaurs but I went out seeking the meaning of life as a teenager in the 90’s. People have no idea what life was like before the internet. It was such an incredible adventure. I’m so glad I got to experience it.
Same here bro it seemed like every day was an adventure and maybe it was just me people seemed nicer and more positive but of course back then I didn’t have a concense I seemed more free I didn’t care about nothing I wasn’t scared of anything I was a little crazy but now as a adult I feel caged and I worry about everything it sucks
pretty sure he actually ended up killing him. he talked about which version of this story to tell because it could get so dark. had “murder dave” come to the mic for a minute and specified that he had totally lost his mind. he gave such a detailed account about taking his money and getting pride and ego back like he has actually done it. story didn’t end up getting very dark at all so clearly this was the happy version of the story?
@@Salty-yb6wi I was thinking the same exact thing man he definitely killed him and honestly he’s right in his circumstances and terms it really doesn’t matter too much
@@Salty-yb6wi eh, I don’t think he did because the German guy translated the French later in the story. It’s hard to tell how much of it all is real though.
The funny part is the pygmy's were more into the Asian guy then the German lol. So if any Asians want to be a God just find a hunter gatherer tribe that will take you as their leader.
My brother lived in the Congo in the bush for two years when it was called Zaire. When he returned, he was even more quiet than usual. He went from 5'10" and 170 lbs, to 140 lbs. and almost died twice; once from amebic dysentery, and once from malaria. He's 6 years older than me and I was still a teen at that time, so he saw that I was trying to figure out how to deal with his PTSD, so he started teaching me Lingala and Mbaka. I have no idea how to spell those languages. He didn't want to teach me French, which was also spoken there, for some reason. I can say that my brother is definitely a genius. My dad was a member of MENSA but seemed moronic next to my brother. But unlike my father, my brother was always more mature than his contemporaries. But when he returned from Africa, it was as if he had emotionally aged another ten years. Whatever he saw, and he only gave me glimpses, changed him forever. Years later, when I asked him why he was so quiet and pensive after his return, he thought for a moment and said, "It took me a while to get used to people complaining about the most insignificant things. The people I lived with in the jungle had nothing. If they had shoes, that was very unusual. Before I left, I gave them everything I had. I realized that they needed those things so much more than I did." My brother, to this day, is my hero.
I lost 2 children in less than 2 years, I understand what your brother says and does, it really puts life into perspective.....(the part about people complaining about the most insignificant things)
@@conorthompson943 I was borrowing his 1962 VW Bug so it had to be the early 80s when he returned. I want to say he returned in '81 or '82 because I don't think I borrowed it for very long. There was always scary political stuff going on in that region as well. He still doesn't talk about it. He only mentioned good things like sitting by a campfire in what he said was the darkest night you've ever seen be ause there wasn't any artificial light for miles. Suddenly, a rhino ran up from the bushes and started stomping out the fire. The people from Zaire he was with calmly, but quickly got out of the way and didn't seem phased. When the rhino was done and left. My brother asked what that was all about. They told him that rhinoceroses put out fires when they see them! I don't know if that's a belief they have or if it's really what rhino's do, but that night, that's exactly what that particular rhino did.🤣
9:00 very true - it is what it is, but we can all frame it better. Thanks dude. And wow, what a story. This guy has lived, but sounds like he's wound himself up in these situations out of stubbornness and then 'learnt the hard way'.
@@yungdoenewcali4943 You may be comedy -deprived. It's a condition where you have so little comedy, even really stupid and failed attempts at being funny can make you laugh.
I thin you're confusing eccentricity, oddness, weirdness and quirkiness for insanity. There can be some overlap and there can even be a VERY thin line but there's still usually a difference. Of course, people can be FUNCTIONALLY out of their mind, too but I personally don't think that David Choe is crazy.
