I keep coming back to listen to this because it is just amazing. David Cook is a shining star and this song was just the beginning of his national popularity.
every year there is one performance that just stands out and make you vote for these idols until ur fingers are numb. this was the song that made me up till today vote for david cook.
His voice is so beautiful; it makes me tingle all over....WOW. I am totally SMITTEN and can't stop listening to his original music and to his studio recordings....and losing sleep watching these videos!!!!!!!! HELLLLPPP!!!!!! But seriously, he is a brilliant artist and is SO MUCH BETTER than anybody I have heard in YEARS. His voice is stellar.
Uhhhhh! This one gets me every time! His voice! His eyes, the way he so shyly accepted the praise!!! The way his lips brushed the mic at the end!!! OMG!! We HAVE to take him all the way! Vote! Vote!he CLEARLY deserves to win this thing. I mean, just look at him... (heads off to confession!)

David Cook for sure is a talented, intelligent guy and a deserving Idol winner. This is one of my favorite performances of season 7, although he had many great ones. Unfortunately, I didnt care for his album and singles at all. But I still want to see him in concert one day. Maybe I will like the next album. He is definitely one of the better idol contestants to participate in that show.
Seriously.. the only person i know that can make a classic tune totally his own and make the arrangement so damn good its almost better than the original!!!
fun aside. im 23 and a music junkie. mosty i listened to stuff like rap,rnb,jazz,soul,new jackswing. also some pop/rock etc (also a big fan of john mayer) but anyway.. what i wanted to say. that david cook is one of the greatest i EVER heard. awesome voice giving u gooseumps etc its a guy i wish all the success a person can get.. the music industry is fucked up at the moment.. so i dont think that david will make it to the TOP again or be at the TOP were he should be. worldwide
He's in a different class than the rest of the Idol contestants. He deserves to win because he is without a doubt the most charismatic and talented performer on the show. David Cook Rocks!
i am a big fan of david cook since the start of season 7, i mean, the short line of 'everything i do' totally got me... i really love all of his songs... i hope he continues to be successful...
So throughout the audition process, he was one of my favorites, but this song is when I declared him head and heels above the rest. I stuck with it ever since and I was SO glad he won!
Congrats David Cook... you are AMAZING, and you deserve it. I love this performance. Look forward to seeing you perform in Ks sometime....we are practically neighbors!
I love that David Cook made his own wonderful arrangement of a pop song I used to completely dislike! Pop was my generation's music, yet I never liked it... I didn't like hard rock either. I was so grateful when Sting and the Police finally came out! They were original... not hard yet not sappy. I hope David Cook has the courage to do more of this type of music. It's obvious that I'm not the only one who feels this way... Hello, Billy Jean... you've got a whole new life in store with Cook!
This is David's best "look" ever! Clean shaven, jeans and t-shirt. Gorgeous!!!!! He still looks amazing with facial hair but it would be nice to see him like this again sometimes!

I appreciate how exceptional David was on Idol much more now than I did then. I didn't fall in love with him until final 2 night, so going back and watching earlier performances is really exciting. Phenominal talent. Love Paper Heart, his latest song which may be on his new cd.
Love seeing this video again! He did such a great job with "Hello"! Absolutely love David and can't wait for his new music. The new AI contestants are giving us a chance to review great past performaces when they pick the same songs that were soooo well done in prior years. Fun!
This was my moment that I fell in love with this artist. I liked him in the week prior but I knew he would win after this performance....my sister didn't believe me.

Awesome, This guy really sings to the heart. I am from germany and its really interresting to see the original Version of American Idol. Here in germany a guy wins this year wich has also an awesome voice.
damn, perfect! this song caught me by surprise especially when it didnt end with 'i love you'. i love the fact that he's different from the other contestants bcoz he takes huge risks.
I think David will win and he deserves it....he is soooo talented! I'm not a fan of rock music until David Cook. Good music is good music no matter what genre....just keep an open mind....now I can't wait to discover other rockers.
This is sometimes the cruelest most obnoxious website when people make really horrible statements about some young kid with amazing talent trying to pursue his dream. Obviously he does not have hydrocephalus. He is extremely intelligent, has a good heart, and is a phenomenal talent. Why not respond to his music rather than making nasty comments. It just shows immaturity and pettiness. I think he is incredibly handsome, sexy, and fantastic. Many of us do. To insult him is to insult us.
I can't believe it, I have fallen for this guy. I never thought I would like this type music, David wins my Heart! He is my American Idol!! He sounds better than the orignal artist.
I think David Cook is the best that show has ever discovered, but if you're familiar with the AI crowd at all, you're not allowed to say that. Some fans of other contestants are very vicious in their bias. Most of David Cook fans are out of that bubble but it's still hard to get support due to the stigma. I hope more people outside of Idol would give him a chance.
Didnt watch American Idol this year, but I hope he won! He has the most character an color in his voice. As a songwriter, these are the type of artists you want to sing your song! NICE!

@Arimaarima71 Yes, this was the turning point for Cook! His key performance of that year. He zoomed to the front like Secretariat in the back of the pack while doing this. And held the lead till the end.
Before he won on this season, you would know from the start that he's really a star.. he has that star quality in him. No wonder he won.. he deserves it and he's down to earth too (I think!)..
