He is not a legend. He is a huge douche. At his shows, if children want his autograph, he has them buy a photo, then has his security guards hand him the photo, which he signs (without acknowledging them), then he hands it to a different security guard, who hands it back to the child (who now has less money than before). I only know this, because I was one of those children with less money. I’ll never forget the first huge douche I ever met:) I bet he can’t make a generation of swindled kids bad memories disappear 🤣

@@torbennielsen4708 I think they'd have to double down and still end with a real bone, to make the transformation crystal clear on screen. Some people would wonder if it was just the material turning over to reveal another surface, or something. Either way, that particular trick didn't seem authentic. The hand wipe was so quick that it looked like it was probably cut/edited. Doing that trick as shown with an audience in the round also seems dubious.

David Copperfield, the legend. If you listen closely to him speak he has a rhythm and a tone in his speech that is very practiced. This entire video he stays in perfect tone and never breaks the nature of the character he is presenting. A true magician can hypnotise you and lull you into a slight trance just with speech and that is before a single performance begins. In fact, all of this video is a performance.

I’ll never forget how excited I was when my dad took me to David Copperfield’s show when I was a little girl, maybe 4 years old (so around 1994) in Dallas, TX, and he told me to run down the isle and hug David, who was standing in the theatre with some people after the show. I obliged, and ran down the isle to give him a huge hug. Afterwards, my dad bought me a David Copperfield t-shirt that I still wear to this day. My dad passed away a few years ago, but we always shared a love of David Copperfield’s magic. I wonder if David remembers that. Edit: I know he probably doesn’t remember. I just wanted to tell him, on the off chance he reads the comments on this video, that his shows had a positive impact on my childhood and my relationship with my dad. So David, if you happen to see this, thank you.

The light box/heavy box trick is quite interesting. It used electromagnetism, which makes perfect sense, but what's interesting is that electromagnetism, in and of itself, is one of the closest things to "true magic" we know of. We understand it at a quantum level. We can generate it, manipulate it, and do all sorts of incredible things with it (like this trick,) but we have no idea why it exists. All we know is that a moving electric field creates a magnetic field, and a moving magnetic field creates an electric field. We are very good at using that knowledge but the phenomenon remains a mystery. Perhaps that's not exactly "true magic," more like our lack of understanding, but it sure is amazing when you think about it.

yes they have, but he claims they developed 3 or 4 different methods for it, so if one method would get busted, he would've just switched to another one. So that's what he claims, but for some reason he really has stopped doing that act a long time ago.
