What a week - Russian media manipulation networks uncovered in the US - conservative influencers seem to be more influence by hard Russian cash than principles, however. Vance leaks the Trump plan to ‘stop Ukraine war in 24 hours’, and it turns out to be an appalling plan to appease Putin. Putin threatens WWIII, but with what army does he plan to fight it. And the big focus for this episode, despite overwhelming evidence of guilt for multiple felonies - here we are again with Trump the GOP candidate for president of the United States is engaged in a fractious and at times farcical election process. But will his criminal guilt, outlandish lies and conspiracy theories, incoherence, toxicity and clownishness have any influence on adherents to the MAGA cult or GOP officials? Might he be replaced after a disastrous electoral debate? And will those who support Ukraine, yet still canvas for his victory now wise up to his disastrous and craven plan to throw Ukraine under the bus? Buckle up. Not all of you will enjoy this one, some will love it, but here we go anyway.

Well said sir. Our job now is to try & communicate this message in this video to as many fellow Americans as much as humanly possible. Also On Election Day offer to give a ride to people whom wish to vote Harris who can’t get out otherwise. The GOP old guard need the true evidence that the usual GOP party & people have been effectively hijacked by frankly a group of traitors trying to take our democracy & freedoms away from us. I’m a die hard GOP BUT I will actively be voting Harris as I’ve seen through their lies & misinformation that they try to hide behind the old guard policy but in fact are no more than a dictatorship. This is probably the most important election in our history. If trump gets in then it’s over & he is not the one who will have to live through the times to follow his actions. We need to get this message out to republicans that this isn’t what true republicans are, it’s not our belief’s or values. This time we must vote Harris o r at least abstain from voting at all this time round but voting Harris is the better way of the two choices as it’s a protest vote against what the GOP has become plus it’s sending the message that we want our values, beliefs, religion & democracy upheld & that they have moved away from this & we want it back. I’m angered that they have put forward trump & Vance. Are these two the best we have🤬. We would be winning now if at the start we had put forward a true democratic person whom is honest & not trying to throw a vail over our heads to hide behind what they really stand for & lie & twist their words in the hope that they can deceive us. Sorry but this time I just can’t bring myself to vote Trump, I just can’t. A joke going around is that Russia's best air defense weapon is Jake Sullivan. Well, he's a lawyer. Lawyers 1. minimize risk and 2. cover their ass and their clients' asses. Lawyers and Politicians trying to play soldier - this is important - Doesn't Work. It creates a quagmire, which they need to find a way out of ultimately because of their bungling and lack of vision made an unpopular mess. The answer to your implied question is available, but it requires about an hour of well-worded explanation. It has to do with the gradual assumption that democracy is indestructible, that each vote does not matter, and ennui with throwing the lever this way or that in the voting booth when it has seemed to make so little difference to the society and each voter. The deterioration of quality in our public schools is instrumental to this syndrome, and is a part of the systematic dismantling of interest in our governance perpetrated by one political party and unaddressed by the other. In fact, I have read many comments from immigrants from Russia who voted for DT already, even though they don't care about making America great again, because some already left USA, others planed to do so in the near future, they dislike what's happening in USA. There's no political party in the US remotely left or progressive enough to represent my views, but I've been all in for our support of Ukraine since the beginning of the invasion. It should be a no-brainer ethically, strategically, politically, practically, economically. Despite the Democrats being too centrist or even conservative in some regards for my tastes, especially in their support of arming Israel against innocent Palestinian civilians, I'll be voting for Harris. In big part because of her support for Ukraine and my fear of Trump's "plan" and because I do fear the looming fascism he represents.

As an American, and a 60 year old lifelong republican that is DEEPLY opposed to Donald Trump, I wouldn't be so sure! Yes, I have a difficult time understanding how ANYONE could vote for him. To me, it's OBVIOUS that he cannot be allowed back in the Whitehouse! And yet, the polls indicate that he has a very strong following. We must remember two important facts; one being the statistical fact that almost 50% of the population is of below average intelligence, and that the vast majority of Americans simply aren't that politically engaged. The largest percentage of republicans simply vote republican regardless, and really don't pay attention to the details surrounding the candidate. And then there's the MAGA cult which is a VERY real thing... Cultism is a phenomenon that has been discussed with one of Johnathon's guests here in the past. And I have seen it's effects with the Trump cult, where no amount of logic, or even their own observations will change their minds, because it has became too much of their own personal identity.

Ukraine is already under that figurative bus, which is a quite literal Muscovite tank, so that would be more like slipping the last hale hand under its track but, this is just a metaphor. This abuse of the term "socialist" is truly annoying. Socialism is people pooling money to provide services to the entire population, ie: police, fire department, air traffic control, environmental protection, worker's safety, State patrol, the military, the government agencies, the Congress itself and the Senate and all the staff, plus the judiciary. He won't be allowed to even enter quite a few countries. They have laws barring convicted felons from entering the country. Most of them are in the EU or/and NATO. IF he's convicted on Federal charges it's not going to change this, possibly make him barred from some other countries. This stands as of right now. He can't pardon himself from State charges, so the conviction in NY State stands unless the Governor gives him a pardon, again highly unlikely.

Not that super young David Knowles, the wonderful journo of the Telegraph daily show on Ukr, who died suddenly while travelling to Gibralatar last week may have died of strain, but it IS possible, even in a young person (he also may have been killed by the bad guys, it is entirely possible). But i kinda suspect natural causes, and that's bcuz like i said, times like this create extraordinary internal strain in thoughtful people, intelligent people, as well as sensitive people.

@@amoonbeams If you literally feel your chest tightening, you should go get checked out by a cardiologist. Take it from someone who just had a heart-attack. The most common cause of heart attacks is a blocked coronary artery. If you take care of it ahead of a crisis, the installation of a stent to open it up is an outpatient-procedure that takes little time and you go home without probably even spending a night in the hospital. They fish that thing in through an artery in your arm or leg and you avoid all the damage to your heart that results from a heart attack.

Absolutely. The so called "radical left" in the US does not really exist. Gray Zone, etc. are nothing but contrarian tools. They don't represent the left at all. They're Trump tools, for God's sake, and their audiences are right-wingers and some very confused people. The Squad is not "radical left," and they certainly don't support extreme positions like the actual defunding of the police or "open borders." Anyway, "defund the police" never really meant anything but the transfer of some police functions to social service agencies that are better suited to handle them. And literally nobody I know of supports just opening our borders with no controls. The whole idea that there is a "radical left" who are dupes of Russian propaganda like there are on the right is just nonsense. It's another version of both-sides-ism. That's the only thing about DeBatto's talk that I didn't like. He's spot-on otherwise. And he at least recognizes that the danger from the right is much greater than from his fictitious "radical left." There is a faux left consisting of people like Tim Poole (who at least used to call himself "left") and the Gray Zone, but there is no radical left in the US that we ever hear from. Such people are very rare, and to whatever extent they exist, they're not supporters of the right-wing Russian government. No one who bolsters Putin is "left." Putin is a right-wing dictator, and actual left people are vehemently opposed to his project. Russia is no longer the Soviet Union. It's an oligarchic, capitalist, fascist state. Nobody who supports it is "left." That would be an oxymoron.

What really resonated with me was when Mr DeBatto talked about how moderate Muslims are criticized for not calling out Islamic extremists, and so, by that logic, moderate Christians need to call out extremists in their faith. My father has always complained that moderate Muslims need to make more noise, and so I have gone out of my way to do this with my own faith. Make no mistake: I'm not a moderate Christian. I'm a devout Christian who is politically moderate, and I am disgusted how so many of us cherry pick what we like from our faith to the point of supporting a madman who has very likely broken ALL of the Ten Commandments.

Unfortunately many people even in a country as Denmark where I am from don't pay attention at all. Most people don't follow the Ukraine news closely anymore and what little information that are to be found in national television news and newspapers does not portray how serious this point in time is at all and have rarely any detailed information or is days old. And it is so frustrating to say the least that Danes are not following proper news. Russias hybrid information warfare, in terms of pure information fatigue/overload, is clearly also working and I think it affects even the mainstream news to cut down on news from Ukraine and Russia. Many people didn't even watched the Trump / Harris debate and didn't even hear about the "eating the cat and dog's" quote. I wrote with many friends and colleagues about it and they were clueless about it. Trump was the clown man everyone were talking about some years back and of course on jan 6 2021. Now the only people who want to talk about him are Trump supporters. Yes there is Trump supporters in Denmark. It is just ridiculous

Democracy is a matter of commitment. Australia's democracy is 124 years old and is as strong as it has ever been. I hope it remains that way. When Australia's founders were drawing up our constitution they looked very closely at the American model. They borrowed a few aspects but decided the American system left far too much to chance. Instead they came up with a better model that put democracy front and centre. Australia's take on democracy may not be perfect, but it is pretty good. I am forever thankful our founders set it up the way they did.

I gotta say I can’t agree with all this man says. First off it wasn’t Joe Biden’s ego that kept him from dropping out sooner. It was made personal by Trump, doesn’t mean that the shoe couldn’t have been on the other foot. But with his empathy and compassion for all Americans, he probably (and I could be wrong) felt in his heart that that was what America needed in that moment giving all that was occurring. With his experience vs. VP Harris. But don’t get me wrong, I’m grateful he dropped out. It gives me hope that Harris can begin to fix what DJT destroyed. We have a long ways to go and I’m sure human destruction will occur, but that’s what the GOP/RU created. A proxy war of our own on our soil. I for one hope our future is brighter than not. But it won’t be easy. We really need to crack down on the troll farms and the hacks.

"The traditional media ... seeks out those things that divide people." This is called 'outrage porn,' and it it is very much an issue in US media. It shows a small segment, often utterly lacking in context, that will incense its viewers. It then shows those viewers being incensed and completes the cycle by showing reactions to those incensed viewers, which inflates a sort of 'outrage bubble' for the length of a news cycle. This is done for ratings. Naturally, the same phenomenon proliferates even faster in social media, for clicks (and profit). Absent any media savvy among viewers (consumers), this is a huge problem to get one's arms around, but it began with news for profit (cable news channels). Hint: it hasn't gotten any better in three decades. Rather than engage in an effortful way with what we see from the standpoints of credibility, plausibility, bias, and intent, we tune into a bubble that most resembles what we already believe.
