On the evening of November 18, Consul General Edward M. Alford invited members of Frankfurt's culture scene to welcome a very special guest. David Garrett, the world-class violinist whose CD just made the top of the charts in Germany, was in Frankfurt for a concert on November 19, and was greeting with acclaim and applause by the gathered guests. Unexpectedly for him, his record label Universal chose this event to present him with an award for this first number one album, "Rock Symphonies." Dirk Bauer of Universal made the presentation. Noting that Garrett is a son of a German father and an American mother, his manager Rick Blaskey pointed out that Garrett is a wonderful cultural ambassador for Germany and America. Later on David Garrett performed two songs on his Stradivarius violin, to the delight of his audience.
