Was hoping the “play test” was going to be the final solo. That was a super cool build, and a very well timed video.

Had the privilege of seeing Mr. G himself perform that Comfortably Numb solo on Blackie backlit by a half halo projected around him as he was standing on the Wall at the London Pink Floyd Wall concerts at Earl's Court in 1980. Not a bad rendition by MCG here !

Thanks for sharing your passion....I really dig recreating masterpieces like this. I have made several my self from other artists and they are incredibly satisfying to play. I found I can make these instruments for a fraction of what Fender is asking, and in the end they are better. Absolutely no compromises, and the attention to set up boarders on total perfection. Its an inspiration to work on and create.

Thank you for all of the detail. This is an amazing build to watch and exactly the information I needed. I'm just building the loaded pickguard for now. The Fender Fat 50's neck pup is getting nearly impossible to find by itself. I wish Fender still sold their pick-ups individually like they used to. Ended up finding a Fender 59 (I hope. If the Ebay gods have smiled) instead until I can get the Fat 50. It's described as being wound with the same type of wire that I could see and has a similar impedance range. Won't sound the same, but it should be close enough for my goofy ass. I already have the SSL-5 and the Custom Shop 69 mid. Now, I'm debating on whether or not to duplicate the wired-in toggle or just get the Obsidian pre-wired kit. I'm not a purist, I'm just trying for a similar sound in a DIY. Thanks again.

Great vid and craftsmanship! I've wanted to do one of these for years. I actually have a Strat style bodied Kramer (Indonesian plywood) that has a perfect factory black finish on it. I just want a wall hanger for my office, and I don't want to spend much on it. Mine will not be so exacting, more of a 3 foot detail spec. I have everything I need except a neck and I can pick-up a cheap one on the net that will work sense it won't be a player. This really inspired me to make an art piece. I can't wait to pick up a cheap finished neck and use your distressing method on the fretboard. I also really liked the method of implying the worn spot at the forearm relief area that shows the original burst color. Great idea and now I'm off to the races! Cheers
