David Gilmour is living proof that you don't have to spit out a million notes per second to be a great guitarist. Is he the most gifted guitar player ever? No, probably not, but is he the best guitar player ever? Absolutely.
Thank you for your love and support that has brought me this far. It was a difficult time for me, but your support made me stop even in difficult times. Cannot appreciate the support enough from fans who prayed for me and I say hello to you on my RU-vid channel. Write to me via hangout or email @gilmourdavid600@gmail.com
@@davidgilmour1046 I am sorry you had a difficult time. Your guitar playing and singing keep inspiring me. They create a calm, warm, strong, confident, upbeat mindset in me whenever I listen to them. Your music feels like encouraging advice from an experienced friend. Live At Pompeii 2016 and Dark Side of The Moon actually inspired me to get a Strat, Pro Bass, keyboard, mics and mixing equipment during the Covid lockdown and start experimenting. This has significantly expanded my joy in music playing on top of the improvised rock and classical sheet music that I have been playing on the piano for many years. My children and entire family have started to experiment on the additional instruments. This has turned the lockdown into a surprisingly positive experience for us. I would like to thank you for this positive inspiration on our lives. Hopefully this feedback can transport some positive inspiration back from us to you.
I honestly have no words for how his playing affects me, it’s almost like a drug flashback, I feel almost stoned. David’s playing affects my brain in a very similar way, I get both Euphoria and a feeling of deep relaxation at the same time, it’s a drug I never want to quit.
On 20 June 2019, Gilmour auctioned 120 of his guitars for charity, at Christie's in New York, including his Black Strat, his #0001 and early 1954 Stratocasters, and his 1955 Les Paul. The Black Strat sold for $3,975,000, making it the most expensive guitar ever sold at auction. The auction raised $21,490,750, with the proceeds going to the environmentalist charity ClientEarth.
If I was given the opportunity to meet just 1 person on this earth it’d be David Gilmour. I’d really like to thank him for every note he’s ever played.
I have met David and I can tell you that he is a true gentleman. Was able to say thank you to him for his music and he smiled at that and thanked me for saying so
He may not be tops on everyone else's lists, but he'll always be #1 on mine. Supremely gifted, multi-talented, humble and kind, he is a living legend. Gilmour speaks through his guitar and his solos are filled with emotion. He's sinply the best.
Oh how I adore& love this beautiful humble man. I have since I was 15/16& I’m 65 now. I also sent my love& thanks to Nick, Richard, Roger& off course Syd ❤🙏🥰
We couldn’t agree more. He has a very distinct English accent with a gentleman-like quality that’s is very calming. There needs to be an app with his voice.🙏🏻🎧🎸
"Can't imagine being in the audience and watching it" Well David imagine this..... I saw you doing CN solo at Earls Court London in 1994 during the Pulse tour. And it was the best night of my life. That solo blew me away. 🙃 Just incredible.
"The very best music just comes to me..." Man, there are maybe a couple things like that in my life, but I can only imagine how someone can be so mated to the guitar that the music takes over and there is no consciousness to think about. Pure emotion.
No one on this world past or present will ever be as good as David Gilmour, some are brilliant but none have the magic DG has.A total master of the guitar that takes people to another stratosphere, and the inspiration to many people for picking up the guitar.Imho,I don't know any guitarist that makes me feel the way David Gilmour has,I've never gave them anytime, because I've only ever seen them playing a couple of guitar solos, that's nothing compared to this guy.Other guitarists have done nothing compared to him.One of my top DG/PF guitar solos is "On the turning away" and that's just one of many.🏴 Scotland loves you David Gilmour.
I agree with you in everything you say, I could watch him play all day and I would love to meet him and talk to him just for an hour or so. There's something different about him, I like Blackmore but I don't think I could sit and talk to him at all.
David Gilmore's a musical genius and his contribution to music cannot be overstated. The solo to Comfortably Numb is the greatest guitar solo of all time IMHO.
Yes we as fans cannot get enough of your old rubbish. As a interviewer lucky enough to be in a room with David GILMOUR N A GUITAR I would HAVE BEGGED HIM TO PLAY THE SECOND SOLO OF COMFORTABLY NUMB. TO MY EARS IT SOUNDS LIKE PERFECTION AND HEAVEN ALL ROLLED INTO ONE BEAUTIFUL PIECE OF MUSIC.
Well yeah he is very very good and I've been pink Floyd fan for years but many guitar players are just as good they all have their own sounds, let's face it guy's these people are god's of music, god's of the guitar, there solo's take us to a higher plane we just driff away 🎸🎸🎸🎸🤸🤸🤸🤸
@@MrFrampo56 they’re all wonderful in their own right🤘it’s not a race or a contest, just musicians baring their hearts and souls for us. Just kick back, relax, and enjoy💝🎸
You' re no guitar player I guess. Otherwise you wouldn' t spread this bs. There is no " most brilliant" guitarist in the world, not dead or alive. There are so many of them, all in their own style. You can' t say Gilmour is better than Gallagher, just different. Btw. If you think he' s the most brilliant you should spell his name right, it' s GILMOUR.
David Gilmore was touched by divinity! Incredible musician one of the most unbelievable guitarist. His vocals and the way they were dubbed on a lot of those records still is a thing of pure relaxation. I don’t even belong to The Floyds time no pun intended lol. I still can’t get enough of Dark Side Of The Moon!
Love him. In my top 5 for sure. Also Knopfler and Clapton. Not only are they amazing players with their signature sound but also great singers and song writers...
He's not really humble as much as polite. But not to say he is a narcissist. He knows he is gifted, and, like he said, he wishes he could be in the audience for one of his performances. :)
He is pretty tired of talking about Pink Floyd really.. But no matter what stage he has been on and gonna be on, That old rubbish is always part of his set list. He cant escape his past no matter how hard he try.. haha..
I love David doesn’t even try to answer some of the questions in words; instead he creates a sound on a guitar, as if to say, THIS SOUND is the answer to your question. A true musician, as opposed to the 99% of us who try to do everything with words.
It is the way that some of us express themselves best. Wow, what a humble man and for me personally the absolute best guitarist that ever walked the earth.
He is so much a part of the sound that just wants out in so many of us, he has that channel directly from his head to his fingers. What a gift to us all!
I think our level of understanding is weak if we call him one of the best, he's the best, I've been listening to him for years along with many other bands and singers, I think he's the best in the world
Agreed, there is no another musician or a guitarist like David Gilmour. he's sound is so unique and special, he's playing is just not from this world, he's solos are overwhelming and emotional, he can melt your heart with 4 notes, and you don't need to talk about he's phrasing and composing on guitar and on general. Just listen to whole of the division bell, sorrow, on the turning away, whole of meddle (especially to fearless, one of these days and of course echoes), fat old sun, breathe, time, wish you were, shine on (all of the parts), run like hell, cry from the street, no way out of here (yeah I know it's a cover), no way, raise my rent, murder, smile, where we start, on an island, rattle that lock, in any tongue, 5 A.m, and so much more, and of course one of the greatest rock masterpieces that this man stands behind comfortably numb, and you'll understand why he's a musical genius and he's the best ever.
I’m so glad he mentioned amplifiers a little. Because that’s what sets him apart from everyone else. He was wondering how the audience felt and I tell you all these nights at his concerts are very special nights of my life. Felt magical. But at the same time I know how lucky he is for the position he is in for being able to play in that set up, though that doesn’t take away anything from his achievements. I think I’m looking at a very lucky man, and that’s a joy to watch.
I miss those long solos. I could sit all day listening to Mr. Gilmour play. After playing myself for 50 years now I would never try to attempt one of his songs out of respect for the music.
How magical is it when he starts playing wish you were here on that 12 string acoustic? Sent shivers down my spine. Then he says you don't want to hear that old rubbish..lol
His houseboat studio looks so comfortable. And now his famous guitars are auctioned for his foundation. His blacky, the serial number one strat, his Les Paul p90 goldtop, on which the solo for comfortably numb was recorded and his nice sunburst telecaster and many more.
I'm sure at 6:58 he thinks back and remembers Rick Wright when he talks about soloing and jamming for hours. Besides being one of the best guitar players ever, what a kind and nice person he is, a true gentleman.
Thousands upon thousands of people play the guitar, some of them exceptionally well. However, no one imparts a soul into a note the way that Sir David Gilmour does.
He is definitely a virtuoso. I was listening to him the other day and got to thinking how music fans in the past used drool over various performers and realized I was experiencing the same level of pure craft and emotion as they did
I think David Gilmour, or really any member of Pink Flod, would be the ONLY band in which meeting any of them i'd be "star struck". Such a notion seems ridiculous to me, but for them i'd be in awe. Im a it younger so they were "before my time" but are my favorite "classic rock" band. I was born in 82, so 90's music was really my coming of age and favorite stuff, especialy rock and metal, but still Floyd just touches my soul and breathes new life into it. And after all these years, he is still touring and playing, and shows that same passion and humility he seems to have always had, a comendable quality for someone of his notoriety and stardom. God i wish i could have seen live 8. I'd give an arm to have been in that crowd.
Floyd music, and in particular Gilmour's guitar has the amazing ability to take me somewhere else, somewhere very good, somewhere I am not worthy to be.
Bethoven, Stravinsky and so many more great people that make music that we will never forget!!!!After Syd Barett who was a great composer left the band.......David Guilmore was the one who make this band the best in the world with the LP Dark Side Of The Moon 1973 that have stayed at the top 100 list longest of them all!!!!
I saw PF in concert when Quad was supposed to be the next big thing. As a PA effect .. it was brilliant ! The second half of the show was the yet to be released, 'Dark Side of the Moon', Live, the whole thing. Thanks, David !
