David Gilmour was 70 years old at the time of this concert. What an incredible performance!!!

He literally morphed as one with that guitar…he was in a God like zone. Truly unbelievable. On the Mount Rushmore of solos

The lyrics say he's comfortably numb, the guitar solo say's he's coming apart at the seams. The duality is captivating. Great reaction.

Pink Floyd is my favorite band, not just because of their enduring genius and musicianship, but because I always feel they touch my soul, and speak to the depths of the human condition. To see them have that effect on a young man like you Shawn in 2023 made me cry.

The solo still gives me goosebumps after all these years. Glad you were able to take in Brit Floyd. They put on an amazing show. But of course nothing comes close to the real thing. Pulse 1994 was Pink Floyd's last tour as a band. 2016 was David Gilmour's last tour as a solo artist. But as you can see, he did not skimp on the lights and sound. He played two venues in Chicago that summer. One at the United Center and the other at the much smaller and much much older landmark Auditorium Theater. He wanted to play there because he remembered that's where Floyd played during their first American tour and he wanted to pay homage to it... Just as he did here by playing Pompeii again after nearly 45 yrs. I think he kinda knew that was probably be his last time out. Mr Gilmour is 77 years old now and is enjoying his retirement. Long live this legend. 🫶🤘

I was fortunate enough to have seen David Gilmour on this tour when it came to Chicago in 2016. As you can hear, he hasn't lost a thing at 70 years old! Although the Pink Floyd 'Pulse concert performance of 'Comfortably Numb' might be my favorite, I love this heavier version, as well. I completely understand getting emotional over a David Gilmour guitar solo. He just oozes emotion in his playing. I suggest checking out two more songs if you haven't already: Pulse concert, 'Sorrow' and 'On the Turning Away,' live version from the 1988 Delicate Sound of Thunder tour.

Yeah the scales are there, but his bends and the way he holds them or uses the Whammy bar really makes it cry. Also, he really uses the whole neck.

What an extraordinary comment. It’s like saying a Mozart symphony is just notes. The point is Gilmour put all the notes and scales into the order which produced this.

Pink Floyd by far my favorite concert and music. My most prolific art period was behind from listening to PF. Love Floyd, Gilmour in my humble opinion the best guitarist on the planet. The music moves thru my soul and lets me create freely. Saw them live many times and sometimes on psychedelics. Whew 😍🤩😍🤩😍🤩😍🤩😍🤩 Floyd in the past has made me emotional, " Coming Back to Life" is the one that makes me emotional. Song by Pink Floyd

I was a freshman in college when The Wall came out. My friends and I played it day and night. I always get emotional listening to certain songs. It means you’re human. Man that’s what music does for us. Reminds us that we care. You’re the best man, keep it up!

Thank you for hitting this concert, it is only David, no other original members, but this is my personal favourite version of Comfortably Numb. The roughly 3000 extremely lucky people that got to witness this performance, are the first people to watch a live event in that coliseum since before Aug. 24, 79AD when Mount Vesuvius erupted. Pink Floyd of course played in the coliseum back in 1972 for a concert film, but with no audience apart from the road crew and the film crew. It had been 44 years between shows. On this tour they played a series of Unesco World Heritage sites, among them the amphitheatre at Pompeii, one of the oldest surviving today.

I have been around a while, since the late 1950s, this song gets me every time, there is something that David Gilmour does that reaches where other music doesn't. I have witnessed death of a loved one and reacted less than I do to this song. I guess there is less pressure to keep it together while listening to music.

It kills me emotionally even now 50 years later, every time I hear it. If I picked a fav entire album, it would be wish you were here. Spafically live, David doing solo "Shine On Crazy Diamond" at Pulse concert!! 😁 Thanks for doing this one

I think that, judging by your reaction to Supertramp’s Logical Song, the emotional feeling probably comes from the loss of your real self as you went through life to this point, and by you, I mean all of us, not only you specifically. “When I was a child I caught a fleeting glimpse, Out of the corner of my eye. I turned to look but it was gone, I cannot put my finger on it now. The child is grown, the dream is gone And I have become comfortably numb.” And then the guitar solo starts, and it shows you how you REALLY feel about such a terrible loss, way down deep. At least that’s been my experience. I think most people have an emotional reaction to this song, especially the live performances of it.

this was a great solo performance, and i've seen david perform this song live half a dozen times. but honestly i prefer the pulse version to this one because nick mason on drums and rick wright on keyboards and vocals was simply better than what we see in this version. also, a few of my favorite gilmour riffs from that pulse performance are missing here. and finally, the visual aspects of that performance are also better. but no matter how many times (and how many different ways) i hear david gilmour play this song i am blown away.

Glad you’ve managed to get to this. This is my own favourite version of ‘Comfortably Numb’, David Gilmour was aged 70 at this Show. Genius. I saw this Pompeii Show at a one night only cinema showing, in 2017. The whole Show is absolutely sensational. Goosebumps all the way. You also mentioned Brit Floyd. For me, the finest tribute Band to Pink Floyd music is ‘The Australian Pink Floyd Show’. Highly endorsed by David Gilmour himself, who once had them play at his Birthday. We saw them just 2 weeks ago, performing the whole of ‘The Dark Side Of The Moon’ Album, to celebrate this year’s Golden Anniversary. Absolutely magnificent. And they also have Lorelei McBroom amongst their backing vocalists, who herself used to perform with David Gilmour and Pink Floyd. Give them a try yourself. Here’s ’Comfortably Numb’, by ‘TAPFS’. (From 2022). Enjoy. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-wbX7bOAUojo.htmlsi=rLLrBeAijpvDqbAi 🎶🎸❤️🎸🎶

Music is meant to make us think, interpret and feel! Some songs seem as if they are written just for me but I know they aren't which leaves me to know that my feelings are normal. Music has been and can be therapeutic imo.

Roger Waters was on vocals, and I presume Rick Wright was on keyboard's. Sometimes bands have two drum setups, so Nick might have been there too. Did it make me emotional? Yes it did. It often does. Music does that to me, it touches buttons in some way. Their biggest selling album is the 1973 Dark Side of the Moon. If you listen to it you'll soon see why. Listen to the tracks in order as they follow on from one another, with barely a pause, but there are amazing sounds on that album. Great posting. Always like a bit of Pink Floyd.

It is so freakin wild & weird that the ONLY two bands that can make me feel as if time & space has disappeared & i am no longer in my own surroundings anymore like i cant even feel my body (which in my case is a really really great thing cuz im always in pain) so yea like an out of body experience & also make me feel feelings like never before just indescribable so **Otherworldly** are course **MyCosmicSpiritSoulmatesLedZeppelin&MyJimmyBabe** & **MyBelovedCrushMeToMyCorePinkFloyd** ha so thats a big YESSS in answer to your question **Pink Floyd** brings me to tears sometimes outright sobbing like crazy but yep they are the only bands that go right into my **Soul** & welp just have their way with it depending on the song i am either crying or as i said before off in some other **Realm** unaware of anything else at all until it stops & then boo **Snaps** me back to whatever this place is heh...**Thank YOU** for a **Wonderful** reaction & once again your openness but see? ya are not on an island so YAY **PixieHugz&LuvzToALL** **Twirls**

That's not really a tribute band David's playing with, he has Chuck Leavell the other singer in this song played with some group called The Allman Brothers band then you have Greg Phillinganes the other keyboardist played with some kid named Michael Jackson and Steve Distanislao the drummer played with somebody named Crosby Stills and Nash!!! So those aren't just back up band members or tribute band members!! By this time in David gilmour's life he has some clout. Also that's guy Pratt playing the bass.

😂😂😂😂NO, you're not an island alone, why do you think there so much peoples you today?😂Not because, of a US rapper singing "fuck the police, women are bitches"😂....We are are here with you, because, you discovered that kind of music, and we are all feeling the same, whatever the color of skin, culture, country, religion, sexe, or kind of music you liked first.....It's too good, too powerfull, it touches the heart and soul, immediatly....(Even if i don't really like when David is alone, or when in another legendary band, they're not all together anymore), that's just magic!😂At the end you see, Pompeii the old roman ruins, the amphitheater, there are playing in, and in the back, Napoli, an lld town, but the new modern town's lights....😢IT'S MAGIC.....I don't like when David is alone, and they call it Pink Floyd, but that's MAGIC....Peace from France ✌️
