100% my opinion. I could not believe, that Roger fired Rick. Without Rick there was no really Pink Floyd.

Echoes is one of the greatest masterpieces in music. It couldn't be forget so easilly

I like Waters, but watching his solo performances you can see his ego get in the way of the music, he makes it all about him. Check out his live performance in Mexico, there are some awesome sets but he truly makes it all about him, promoting the base lines above the leads and hamming up each note. It really takes away from the music as a whole

The way I look at The Floyd, Syd was the Inspiration, Nick as the Heart Beat, Rick as the soul, Roger as the Driving Force and Dave as the Redeemer

they were all the soul. It's like all the good band in the world...they all fight each others cause when you do a band, you can't do everything, you have to make compromises all the time...Roger was maybe not the best, but he was good do lead the band for quite a long time...I found that stupid that they could not continu all together...I like The division bells, Momentary lapse of reason and others without Roger waters....but seriously, the best track are with Roger, like Dogs, Echoes etc etc....some people will say "it's not because of Roger Waters"...well, I'm not that sure.

Clapton is straight blues, and Gilmore gets his chops from the same interdimensional alien quasi-time space blues void that Hendrix did

Instrumental skills are nothing without passion ...however passion is sufficient itself..

RW is considered a good (not great) bass player - and he's not a bad guitar player - (also not nearly great like Gilmour, Beck or Clapton) - he's also got adequate keyboard skills - and in his prime he could deliver amazing vocal performances - but more often on records than live - ( i.e.: "Run Like Hell" from The Wall - note that Gilmour delivered some flat vocals on live recordings of DSOTM and others ) - so yes Roger is only a good (not great) musician - but make no mistake - every PF album released in the 70's are classics - and only because he was leading the way.

Haha. It’s funny cause now if you asked Rogers himself, he’d tell you he’s the musical genius, and could of probably played any instrument better than the rest of the band. RIP Wright. I won’t say the same when Rogers goes. What a dick.

Not sure about the drummer but the bassist has been playing with Pink Floyd/David Gilmour since the late 80s. He was married to Richard Wright's daughter for a time.

Danny Vasquez The Pink Floyd Sound at its core has always been Richard and Gilmour. Mason is a great drummer but Waters bass playing is mediocre. Since drum and bass/ guitar and keys go together, it's easy to say their complementary style is the true Floyd sound...Waters a fantastic writer but not that instrumental(pun intended) with the sound

Phluffhead I don’t understand how people can say that Roger’s bass playing is mediocre when he was the one who came up with the riff for Money. Money has a 7/8 signature, that’s rather impressive.

No one in Floyd was "mediocre". That's just absurd!

This sounds more like Floyd than 90% of The Final Cut.

TheBent139 Never said that. Waters is a supremely gifted songwriter but as a musician, he is the least skilled of the four. Gilmour was known to track SEVERAL of Roger's bass tracks(basically ALL of Animals) over the years. I'm not saying Waters is mediocre, just a mediocre bass player.

Cause it's an improvised loose jam. These guys can do this for hours. No preconceived tunes or ideas, just letting their instruments speak...
