Genesis - In The Cage Medley" (In The Cage, The Cinema Show, Duke's Travels) "Afterglow" (When in Rome 2007) For more Genesis check Genesis Playlist in my Channel.
I am crying so much... Since I was 10 I have watched this live countless times with my dad, he was a massive Genesis fan and golden dad❤️. At 55 years old he was diagnosed with Dementia with Lewy Bodies, he then got worse every day and since there is still no cure he lived a miserable 8 years of hell, I have no idea how he did it, but before losing his mind completely he was still smiling at me, staying strong, and supporting me, he was a super positive person and everybody loved him. I got everything from him: passions, sports, culture, his manners, etc... He was my hero... Even though he did not believe in god, I am sure he went straight to heaven, he was a gift on this earth. Everytime I watch this video now I can't do anything but to cry like a fountain, all the memories of him pass through my head, this music is still, and will be forever, magic. I wish one day I'll make you proud... Love you forever dad, nobody was like you... Rest in peace Marco❤️❤️
The 17 minutes of music here are the best on the net. The perfection, the quality, the musicchanges are brilliant. It's a wonderful pleasure for the ears and a mindblowing experience. The ending with Afterglow is the cherry on the cake. Really really brilliant piece of music.
After 60 odd years in the ‘biz’, I’m sure Phil is quite happy to let his legacy speak for him at this point, even as much as we’d all love to see him pick up the sticks again. Luckily, he fathered some seriously talented children so the Collins legacy lives on even though the patriarch is taking a well deserved rest at present.
The most beautiful live version of Afterglow ever! The sun has just set on the Circus Maximus in front of over 500,000 people. Rome 2007, for eternity.
Absolutely incredible! And let's hope it shuts up all those dopeys who erroneously claim that, once Gabriel and Hackett left the band they became "just a commercial pop group." Yes, well, listen to this......
That medley played live, it doesn't matter at which concert, is the most powerful and exciting piece rock of any kind that I know of. And I'm not even a huge Genesis fan!
This is only my second comment I've ever made, I have grown up listening to these guys since as long as I can remember and now the person who introduced me to them has passed away. I just want to say THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH FOR INTRODUCING ME TO THE MOST IMPORTANT BAND I THINK WILL EVER EXIST IN MY LIFE TIME 🖖
Si demasiada suerte, yo no los ví en concierto nunca. Pero en mi imaginación toque la batería junto a Phill mil veces, pero no era la batería, eran los sillones de mi casa.
I was with a female friend at the Phil Collins concert, and we got drunk before the concert. In his first song, we were too drunk, and I only remember his first song, when the guards kicked us out.
I was lucky to see genesis live 3 times, nec Birmingham, roundhey park leeds and rome. they truly are legends, some great memories watching this amazing video. this is why youtube was invented.
There is no better version of "In the cage" than this one. It's just perfect how they play and Collins sings it. Imo Collins was great on this tour, yes they played most of the songs in a lower key, but his vocal control and the tone of his voice was just amazing. Laid back but still powerful. The DVD is one of the best concert films in my collection.
It's great isn't it! Despite being English, I never got to see them. I did actually have tickets for their last concert at the O2 but the thought & cost of seeing & hearing dear old Phil looking like he was about to become the next one for a state funeral made me bail! 😕
Actually, for me the best In The Cage version is from the first leg of the Invisible Touch Tour, they played it with In That Quiet Earth and the Supper's Ready ending. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-azVPzfHnHTM.html
Whoever didn't get watery eyes, lump on their throats and/or goose bumps is a liar....what intensity and beauty too much for the body to handle. If it felt so intense on the computer screen I can't even begin to imagine what it would be like Live.
At the age of 18 we danced at the heavy rock disco in UMIST Manchester to the who, rolling stones etc and then the dj played the carpet crawlers. Ever since despite Zeppelin Floyd Tom Petty U2 simple minds .... etc I still return to Genesis. at the age of 66 I believe they were the best band of my era and the concert in Rome was their greatest ever. Thank you for enriching my life , one day I will not type in you tube Genesis Rome and then I presume I will have gone or dementia has finally taken me
It was so gloriously unexpected that the band chose to play this medley. I mean, when was it they last played the Cage? This was stunning, heartfelt, deeply emotional, and so fabulously played. I will remember this forever, and it will crack me open with emotion every time. Extraordinary!
Genesis at their absolute peak. Their most important concert in front of over 500,000 people in a magical place. And sadly, the farewell to a healthy Phil Collins. Phil, one of the greatest of all time.
Irre Irre Irre, so genial! Wie kann man - egal ob am Schlagzeug, der Gitarre oder Keybord - seine Finger so bewegen, und dann kommt so etwas GENIALES dabei raus... UNBELIEVEBLE ❤
Genesis best band ever, if you're not sure listen to this and you will agree. I've been a fan for 40 years and still love them. God bless genesis and all their fans
I am 24, but my friends call me as an old man because all of my favorite songs are too old for them. Like Genesis, Super tramp, Bee Gees and other old songs .. I think these song are more beatifull than the new songs in 2000-- :D
Wow, I feel sad, how on earth is any band going to better this! No politics just pure musical bliss, l have loved genesis since I was a teenager and now I am 55 going on 19!!! Lol
I had the good fortune of seeing them live in the late 1970 -80s but then they were doing more of the Phil Collins drum biased stuff. But when they played the old stuff it was breath taking.
Like the dust that settles all around me I must find a new home The ways and holes that used to give me shelter Are all as one to me now But I, I would search everywhere Just to hear your call And walk upon stranger roads than this one In a world I used to know before I miss you more Than the sun reflecting off my pillow Bringing the warmth of new life And the sounds that echoed all around me I caught a glimpse of in the night But now, now I've lost everything I give to you my soul The meaning of all that I believed before Escapes me in this world of none, no thing, no one And I would search everywhere Just to hear your call And walk upon stranger roads than this one In a world I used to know before For now I've lost everything I give to you my soul The meaning of all that I believed before Escapes me in this world of none I miss you more Thank you, thank you phil~
@@ofekool225 Everything evolves one day. Now you can put an entire orchesta in a single computer. You can make music with a computer, without wasting 1000€ on instruments. Today, everyone who want's to make music, he can. And trust me, there are masterpieces made with a computer. So, please, don't call garbage music to the music made with a computer. There's no garbage music in this world! Just give it a try, maybe you can find a song you like :)
@@markelmencia4374 Well I didn't mean it was all garbage, but the computer-generated music is fake and empty. people should listen to real musicians who play real instruments..
Struemer is a session musician without a unique compositional bone in his body. He is at Phil's side because he is paid to be so, and he doesn't really have any other high-income alternatives. He is a yes man. Does as told.
@@FireMunki63 so why... - have we seen him a thousand times on stage ? - has he been on the sides of guys such as Leland Sklar, Jean-Luc Ponty, George Duke...? - has he released a dozen albums ? - has he composed so much material ? That kind of "yes man"... I take anyday to play with me ! Refer to David Rhodes and his work (solo, or with Peter Gabriel and else), they have some similar paths. Without those talents (only) you consider mediocre, would there be records, films, live shows, etc. ? A front man/woman needs a team... take any, then you'll understand. If you can !
I'd like to state that this is, to me, the best performance available on youtube. Of anything. Clasic, rock, pop, doesn't matter. This is the best performance ever.
These guys have been the best modern day composer's in the world of music for nearly 50 years. So much talent that I don't think we will ever see thier like ever again, so much passion with a hard working ethic that for me makes them the best band ever.
Beautiful this band are so relevant to what’s happing in our world today…back in the 80s we were warned by so many artists but Genesis were on top of the game! This is what songs will never sound like again ,it’s beautiful and sad all at the same time. Mike delivers some epic rifts and Phil is on another level. Thank you Genesis love always from 🇮🇪☮️
I get goosebumps. "Ciao" from an old Genesis fan who never went to any of their concerts (too poor and --- too little time). Genesis composed the new classical music! Eternal love.
In 1977 as a young man I was imprisoned in one of her majesty’s dark and menacing doom and gloom hotels, there was so much oppression and ill treatment by the guards,I was housed in a cell no bigger than a broom cupboard, meant for three prisoners,I was fortunate that two brothers came in to my cell, after introductions one produced a radio, and the other produced a nice chunk weed,Lebanese,,they were fans of genesis and floyd,a local station was airing Phil eastern express a rock channel,we all lit up layed back and listen gratefully to the sounds of Gabriel and genesis,it took me away from my surroundings and the weed was that strong I was on a different dimension, the brothers were released before me but I carried on listening to genesis and some floyd, the odd bit of Dylan etc etc,and to this day at 60 yrs old I still don the head phones and drift, carpet crawlers many too many, suppers ready in the cage, ripples turn it on,pure heaven,,
Saw this show, my 11th Genesis gig, going back to Trick '76. The "old medley," in its various incarnations over the decades, was always the highlight of any G show for me (all the better w/ the, uh, herbal enhancements, of course [I know, y' don't smoke (wink).]). This stuff is some of the most distinguished rock (if such a thing exists) ever presented, immho.
If only he had a bit of emotion and skill in singing.. sad creep trying to "understand" Peters music but he fails so bad.. cringe worthy to see them do this with nothing but sound coming out, there's nothing "haunting" in Phil's voice, nothing grabbing you what so ever, missing all the high points and all of the fizz.
@@itisflat1356 Your story shows great originality and a unique point of view! I would recommend some full stops, and you tend to repeat the same points with different phrasing. But all in all, good effort - I give it a C.
