That's what I've been saying for years: KITT can only be the original 3rd gen Pontiac Firebird Trans Am. They might update the dasboard but even at that KITT's best left untouched, he's got plenty of gadgets and power left for the 21st century :)

There were kids that became fans of Knight Rider when it was first aired in 1982 and others that also became fans during the reruns in the 80's, 90's and 00's. They love the show, the characters but mainly for the customized '82 Trans Am aka black T-Top.

Look forward to it. Mr Hasselhoff makes a good point. The biggest trouble with the sequel movie was not having the Trans-Am styling. That styling is still legendary and you can't beat that cool sleek shape, it's iconic. If it did make a come back, who knows, Pontiac(GM) may consider bringing out a special edition of the classic 80's Trans-Am with updated engine and interior features. I think it would be a massive hit. For starters, it wouldn't take much to beat that the 1982 engine alone and with upgraded suspension and improved handling it could really be a sports car fans serious interest. Surely the world is getting sick and tired of the pregnant roller skate designs of the last 30 years. It's time to bring back that ultra cool styling more than ever. But best of all, new Knight rider, KITT and Michael could be back and on the big screen. Here's hopoing Universal doesn't give the great David Hasselhoff any BS, at the end of the day it's not like there doing anything at all with the franchise(let's not even talk about that horrible excuse for a reboot they tried.)

I would love to see a night rider movie. With all the reboots going on they absolutely have to do this one. And to be honest with all the collectors out there and the people who have built their own knight rider cars. I would think they could use a classic 1983 kitt car. They’ve tried to use new cars and nothing looks a sleek and bad ass as kitt did back in the 80s. And I realize they need probably 20 kitt cars to make a movie because it gonna damage most of them. And that might be the actual problem is they could only get A couple of cars. Because there’s not many collectors who spent $20,000 converting their Trans Am into a kitt car that are gonna want to see it destroyed in a movie. But I would love to see the movie regardless. I support it.

Pontiac was discontinued in 2010, but there is a modern Trans Am that is a modified Chevy Camaro, though it's not an actual T A.

Hope the Hoff plays the Devin Miles part. Kitt upgrades should include uplink to knight industries military spy satellites, computers, and communication monitoring systems. Part of the fun of the series was the Hoff playing the detective and relying on KITT as a "backup" partner, when things went wrong.

While the kid in me would just love to see KITT brought back onto the big screen, I just can't see that movie become a hit. A lot of the tech in KITT, which was the appeal of the show and back then seemed so scientifically impossible, has become everyday items in our lives today. Also, sci-fi movies like Transformers or any other tech-driven movie has already showcased tech beyond the scope of KITT and done so on a larger scale. So adult me says: what can you bring to the table that is new and not just a nostalgic rehash of an Era gone by? Whatever movie is potentially going to be made it has to offer a compelling story and volumes of action just to keep contemporary audiences happy.

Yeah! Fantastic new! I hope that they can make it finally. I have watched the new Knight Riders movies and series and gosh! So tasteless! I don't know why they have completely change of model of car. It is like changing a combat jet with a commercial jet. No imagination and good humour too. The idea to continue the story is nice but the realization was nut. I hope to see a good new Knight Rider worth of the famous series!

Ok it’s now 2020, any news on whether this will happen ? I mean, the car will have to be changed, but not a transformers style Ford Mustang please! I would suggest the Corvette Stingray as Pontiac no longer exists.

If the bring back the original Trans Am, not a new car of any type, and just change the dash to new LED dashboard with the Hoff this movie would be a success! I know I would be there the first day of opening . A lot of times they put in a new car because movies get a huge kick back from car manufacturer to promote a new car because it would promote sales . but that would be a big mistake.
