A rare Interview back in 1991 Where Only Fools and Horses Star David Jason reveals what happened when Nicholas Lyndhurst Had A Terrible Row On Set That lasted the day. Some great glimpses into the admiral humor of these two great actors
My dad's favourite show was Only Fools And Horses, when He died, a few weeks after his funeral I re-watched the whole show with my better half who had only seen a few of them at the time, and it was amazing she could not believe she had never watched them before ans laughed her ass off, It was great introducing my other half to them and remembering watching this great show with my dad. Good times.
My late Father loved it too, I rewatch the whole series from time to time as it reminds of when he was here. Such a great show, they don’t make him like this anymore.
It originally didn't do well, I think it was the time slot, I can't remember now. Anyway, then later they needed to put something on to replace a cancelled show and stuck on Only Fools and Horses. More people saw it and then it just took off.
I remember watching Only Fools and Horses, sitting between my old grandads legs. I adored my old grandad, and still miss him. It was a staple in our lives to watch it, especially the Christmas special. ❤
I was born and raised just 2 miles from Peckham and Brixton in that very era and in later years worked at one of the local Racetracks. Even after 40 years, just 11 miles away,I still miss those days and though my area is much safer than those areas these days,I still miss them and the vibe and buzz of being there, especially as I lived between 2 very bust=y Main Roads and over a market. When I go out @ 9am,I will be lucky to see 2 people in my toad of 150 houses...
There have been a number of TV shows that everyone remembers, because it's seems right in every way. Whether they make people laugh, great characters, great stories, always funny, memorable Only Fools and Horses was one of them.
@@dontbewokewhen you're right, you're right. OFAH is the greatest sitcom of all time in my humble opinion and yours and in the general publics as it topped the viewers poll of the greatest comedy
The greatest programme of all time every character played beautifully. written by a true genius john Sullivan amazing how I have seen them all 100 times each but they still make me cry with laughter 😂
📡🏢🦋 Remember watching this when it first started and straight away you realised this was comedy gold and it still is today , the humour is so clever and the talent is amazing. 🤣👏👏❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
The sad thing is, though, that David Jason recently revealed that they have now lost touch with each other and haven't spoken with each other in a good while. They've not had an argument, they've just drifted apart.
He's just such a genuinely nice man. So many of today's untalented " stars " could learn a lot from Sir David, but then they live in a self-created bubble, and wouldn't listen. I wish you rainbows, Sir David.
Did you know , twice , men have been charged for raping boys in his house while he was away filming. Once , bad luck. Two times , what's the chances of having two pals like that use your house twice.
David was okay in Del boy and with Ronnie Barker but the detective series it was out of his depth it wasn’t believable. Having said that you say is a very nice man shall say he is a very nice man.
Realising there would never be another only fools episode was quite sad , I didn't watch it originally, just reruns over and over, felt like a family somehow, but by then, in reality time had already moved on, there will always be a place in my heart for Del, Rodders and the rest, funny sometimes how some people or things seem to just shine, this show just had it.
@user-kz4ke8mg4r LOL That stinks of internet conspiracy theory bud lol. "they say" lol. who says? people just love controversy, people like you can't wait for another Saville, i'm sure you've got your fingers crossed that he's touched loads of kids so you can get off on being shocked and appalled at it. stop spreading he said she said, they said's when you don't have a lick of actual information or details on anything, you're just a gossip spreading rumors on the Internet about "they". "they" say a lot of things. and usually "they" are full of shit.
David Jason is a marvelous actor and totally believable in any role he plays. Delboy is a comic legend and OF&H had a stellar cast of characters. I'm not sure David is actually a 'diamond geezer' in real life but I hope Nicholas Lyndhurst is bearing up after the tragic loss of his son and returns to acting at some point in the future.
The best sitcom ever !!! So pleased we have uk gold !!! I have every episode recorded and have the whole box set!! May John Sullivan,John challis ,Kenneth McDonald, roger pack and buster merryfield and lennard Pearce and the rest of the brilliant cast that have left us and thanks for the memories 🙏🙏🙏🙏👍
David Jason is one of the best uk comedy actors of all time ,up there with Barker Atkinson and Cleese ……. Great funny humouress and in many ways true to life and still watchable even though i ve seen most them countless times ….
Think about how big of a movie star David Jason would be if his career had just happened a few decades later. Because back then TV actors and movie actors were essentially two totally different professions. TV stars were seen as lower than movie stars and movie stars wouldn’t dare lower themselves to do TV. But now there is basically no difference. If you’re the lead on the biggest TV show in the world you’re as famous as the biggest movie star and vide versa. Movie stars juggle movies and TV shows together all the time these days. And David was a guy that everything he touched in the acting world turned to gold. So there’s no reason why he couldn’t have had a Michael Cane esc career if he got the opportunity.
I honestly had no idea about that, I always just assumed that the way to get into doing movies was from doing well for yourself on TV, so did movie stars just start doing movies straight out of drama school, basically?
@@Kaltagstar96 Pretty sure the way it worked was everyone wanted to be a movie star. That’s was the goal of every actor. But the ones who struggled would eventually turn to TV roles. But a lot of actors were very hesitant to do this as going to TV was seen as almost giving up becoming a movie star because it was so difficult to break out of TV into films.
@@Kaltagstar96It's true. TV actors and movie stars did NOT mix in the past. You were either one or the other. Rarely was there a cross over. But sometimes a TV actor would strike gold and become a film star as Bruce Willis did when he went from the TV show, Moonlighting, into Die Hard, 1988. That movie propelled him and he never really work in TV again. Michael Douglas did too from the 80s TV show, The Streets of San Francisco. But his dad, Kirk Douglas, was an old film star so he did have that pedigree. A few others made the transition. Leo DiCaprio did some TV, most notably the 80s sitcom, Growing Pains, before he made movies. All media is mixed now and cross overs are seen as normal but it certainly wasn't like that in the past. Don't know when things started to blend. The 1980s? Maybe.
Fools and Horses is from a time when TV (or media as we would now call it) could still be honest instead of being mandated to portray a so-called ideal, the way we SHOULD be according to people who know very little abouth normal life. What treasures we have lost with this supression of real humanity.
I got an early induction to O.F.F.A.H. My dad watched every episode and in 92 I got married to another fanatic so I have been watching since my teens but I love watching on UK gold.
have you been reading the sun by any chance , of course they talk you clown, david was the first person nick turned to when his son dies and david was there in an instant,
And once he'll have passed, at first everyone will be absolutely shocked, and later on everyone will have known what he was up to but they just couldn't prove anything.
@@johnlinford3791 wow - never thought he'd be like that even though I don't like him either as a person or an actor. Seems to think he's better than he actually is - a legend in his own mind, if you will.
the bestest friends have the biggest rows a day or 2 later they would of been laughing about it. i remember me and my best friend having a big fight which led to us punching each other people all around us trying to split us up half way through it we both just started bursting out laughing hugging each other saying what idiots we were.
Remember that time a few years ago that mental bastard threatened David Jason and he needed 24 hour bodyguards, Also can we please take a minute to appreciate the brilliant talent of David Jason and Nicholas Lyndhurst. Wind In The Willows, Goodnight Sweetheart, Darling Buds Of May, Only Fools And Horses.
@@jakecollins4545 calm down jake ...its del boy ..surely any thing he does is OK...some deserve that kind of respect in my eyes .so what's he done that ya don't like 🤔
@@jakecollins4545that's just your view on him....most of us like David...in all rolls he plays or at least give it ago... I liked him in most things he did.... not all ..but still I'm talking now..today... its been a while since he's been really active and it would be good to see him again... he can only work with what is given to him all so..he is very diverse and had proven that... but I would like to see him active again Evan if you don't
Loved David Jason in some of his roles, though I did hear from a couple of girls that working in the TV industry that he had a bit of a reputation and that the (female) production assistants would only ever go into his room in pairs, never on their own….
He was on the One Show a while back, bragging that people knew not to bend over in front of him and he got a golden sausage trophy for making the best innuendo on set.
The problem with all these actors is that people hold them in great esteem, let's be clear there no different than you and I and they are just doing a job that some are good at and some aren't ...there not saints and I have a friend who works as a first A.D. in TV and has worked with many actors including david jason on many occasions and he tells me he's definitely not the nice guy he portrays himself to be....
