what a brave and proud man to stand up and talk about his son so candidly. I was fortunate enough to see Free perform live at Stanstead in 1971. Of course it's a very sad story of what happened to PAUL . May he rest in peace.
Unbelievably powerful. You could see the effect of a father, telling the tragic decline of his very talented son, that it had on these young people. There are many lessons to be learnt from Paul Kossofs short life.
What love you show to others dad. What’s love you have for Paul. God bless you until you are reunited with Paul again in heaven. Where all is love and evil has passed away.
very very moved by that. big fan of free and of course him. what a wonderful lecture to those young people. i feel so sad but so so proud. i was so damn lucky to see free live in a concert at the university of east anglia. the electrics had gone and they used generators and i was standing at the front and watching. I was only about 20 years of age and i was mesmerised. I thought when i looked at him Paul, that i would want to stay back stage and talk to him and be his friend, i thought that then and wished i could have done so. I always think about that.
@@kevinnorth9927 Thanks for writing. Nice of you. Ive been a huge fan ofBowie for ages - got all of his stuff - but lately ive just gone straight back in to Free and Bad Company. Nothing else i wanted to listen to after work in around 1974 onwards. There was something amazing about all of them-so enigmatic. The singing of course - out of this world voice - but him Paul - just so captivating a person. Do you think he may have had some high end autism/aspergers. Or maybe he was just like me - a musicophiliac. I taught myself drums a few years ago - pplayed like ginger baker and keith moon. gave up for a bit as i crashed out through the drum kit a few times! Taught myself piano two years ago after my husband died -and so im gonna look on amazon for some Free piano music. That is going to be great fun. What do you really like about the Band and Paul Kossoff? Im so glad ive seen these clips on here about him and seen him playing and looking so into it and so excited. really glad. Because when i saw him in the tent at UEA he really did look very depressed. so im glad to see him ike this. Have a good evening
Shalom to David and his son Paul. An outstanding story of Paul's life with the band FREE told by an amazing man a very Proud father. As an Australian girl hearing this band in early 70's it changed me and invigorated my senses to listening to English bands that had such an impact on my taste in music. Forever grateful for the likes of FREE. Still have the original record. Thank you for this memory of Paul and especially his Dad for detailing the story of such a great musician. 🙏🙏
Truly a loving, caring father who greatly misses his son. His strength to do this touring of the story, to help prevent just even one senseless death of another child from addiction, and afford another father a lifetime of joy with his child. Very humbling and touching.
@@1313jerry1313 It was in the late 80's. My dad was a junior school headmaster and he booked David for the afternoon to tell stories to his pupils.That's where I met him and he also had one of Koss's Gibson LP's in his car and he even let me hold it.
Such a strong man to give this to us. He must have been devastated by Paul’s death. I was fortunate to see Free many times in my youth. Before they made the big time, they were based in the Teesside area of England. Free used to practice at the youth club I attended - St. Mary’s Youth Club, Stockton-on-Tees - and in return they gave many free gigs. They were so popular and had a massive following in the Teesside area (Paul Rogers being from Middlesbrough). Even when they were famous they would return and do paid gigs in our little club! 2s/6d in old money to get in. Happy days! RIP Paul Kossoff.
I think Dave Murray from Iron Maiden ended up with one of Paul's Guitars, a Fender, a black Strat. I know Paul is remembered for his Gibson but a pre CBS Fender belonging to him is a very desirable Guitar. Thanks for sharing Kevin.
@@kevinnorth9927 Yes apparently Dave aquired Paul's 1963 Stratocaster. Dave doesn't take it out, from what I can gather it's been retired and is put away for prosperity. Thanks again Kevin.
That was harrowing. I must be the same age as those youngsters in the audience - I mean, they must be the same age as me, now. Weren’t we a respectful, attentive audience? I wonder how the gen z kids would have taken such a presentation? God bless David and Paul. 🙏
