David Lee Roth - Yankee Rose Reaction and Discussion! 

He's singing about the Statue of Liberty. At the time this song was produced in the '80s the Statue was undergoing a lengthy renovation and refurbishment so it was kind of in the public consciousness. Also, the intro sketch to this video is a classic and is right in line with the silly/fun vibe of Van Halen's "Hot for Teacher" video.

After seeing David Lee Roth era Van Halen videos, Yankee Rose is obviously a parody of Van Halen. The video and the song, both. There was a lot of bad blood between Dave and Eddy at the time, and this was Dave giving a giant middle finger to Eddy. That's the reason for all the over the top antics with the instruments in the video. For reference, watch the video for Jump by Van Halen.
