David Phelps - End of the Beginning (Very Uplifting!) 

David Phelps is revered as one of the greatest tenors alive. Check out his version of Oh Holy Night now that it is Christmas. His range, dynamics, and power are on full display.

I love Gospel Music. This was a beautiful song and it looks like David Phelps wrote the lyrics. I've never heard of him but I enjoyed this very much. I was just like the guy sitting in the chair next to him on the plane looking at Jesus and religion as a crutch for the weak. I believed in God but I didn't know Jesus. Never read the Bible never went to church just partied as hard as I could. Jesus caught me like a fish on a hook. The most beautiful woman I ever saw told me she was a born again Christian. I had to know what she meant. I didn't get the girl but Jesus got me.

I knew David before he became famous (before he joined the Gaither Vocal Band). He came to our church for a couple years to help us with our Passion Play in the early 1990s. Standing on the same stage with him, hearing him sing "Arise" (can't find it now) gave me "happy chills" down my spine! Every rehearsal and performance we'd be standing side by side on stage for the finale, which was the Ascension, singing the Hallelujah Chorus. What a thrill! He's a classically trained tenor and I'm a classically trained soprano so I relished every moment of it. BTW he has an opera CD. It was sad when he left the Gaither Vocal Band. I don't see him ln TV as much as I'd like. One thing I remember about David: he sings for the Lord and never acted like a "star". He was very quiet. I personally feel the same. When I used to sing publicly (retired now) I sang for the Lord. My songs were a prayer and or a message. I never liked applause. Say, "Amen." My late mother always said the day I stop making her cry would be the day I should stop singing. David has that effect on me. No apolause except inside but outwardly I say, "Amen." For God's glory!

Hey Maddy! Thank you for doing my request. I'm glad you enjoyed it. David is arguably the best male singer out there today but he chose to use the talent God gave him for His honor and glory so many people dont know of him. His version of O Holy Night is, in my opinion, the best version of that.

His dad wanted him to be a doctor. But David wanted to be a singer. So his dad sent him to college to be classically trained. Glad you liked David Phelps! Also listen to his recording of Oh Holy Night! It is amazing!

I wouldn’t normally listen to this type of thing, BUT, that was not half bad and delivers a message of hope as opposed to the usual doom and gloom.

It took David a few years, but he finally finished writing this song and it was totally worth the wait.

David Phelps is a true hidden gem and isn't known outside the Gospel music genre. His cover of O Holy Night is amongst the best out there. It is definitely worth checking out! Love your videos, vibe, and characters. Keep up the amazing work!

David is classically trained from baylor university in Texas where he studied different genres of music... During his time at baylor university he also assisted as a strength voice coach... David is the best male vocalist in the world and has been for the past twenty five years. I know...I have seen him live 11 times live from the front row, been to his home for two Barn Bash events, met him and his family multiple times...there is no one better today.

I love to watch people react to David Phelps' voice as he gives all he praise to the Lord Jesus. He is truly blessed and anointed with talent. This recording if from back in about the year 2000. 23 years later, he has written and recorded many more songs. Mostly Contemporary Christian, but if you have the taste for operatic, classical and popular music, he is just as good with that. It's amazing that there are still people who have never heard him. Best concert I think I have heard. I'm 64. More than seeing Patti LaBelle, Tina Turner, James Taylor. I'm a Jew, and I honor and respect him. I believe in a God who knows love more than any of us. Pull up his versions of secular songs that take on a faith based message: Unchained Melody, I Want To Know What Love Is, Nessun Dorma, etc.

Listen to his Whitney Houston cover of I Have Nothing- to be truly amazed with his voice and presentation. He is truly blessed by God with his talent! Another religious song is Just As I Am-amazing song. He sang with the Gaither Vocal Band for several years.

It actually has nothing to do with being positive, this is God's Word The Bible and that trumps everything else! Christian music blows secular music out of the water! It's not about being positive it's about preaching God's Word and if it offends and brings people to repentance and receive Christ! They have four children: Callie, Maggie Beth, David Grant and Coby. Callie, Maggie and Grant can be seen on the Gaither Homecoming videos Christmas in the Country and A Time for Joy. The whole family is featured on the video, The Best of David Phelps from the Homecoming Series. All four children sing on the Classic video, as well.
