I waited years to hear David sing this, Dottie Rambo wrote the song and asked David to record it, unfortunately she passed away before he did. Sandi Patti recorded it first, that's how I feel in love with the song. Seeing David sing it live is incredible.
My mom sang this in church a lot when I was a kid. I slept a lot in church…except when my mom sang! LOVE the song! Dottie was an amazing songwriter (and singer). David def does it justice!
David and his family live on a farm near Nashville TN. They turned their dairy barn into a concert hall. It seats about 500. There are to 2 main events each year at the Barn. Labor Day Barn Bash and Christmas Barn Bash. They are life changing. Thank you for reacting to David Phelps. I have been a fan for over 25 years. He just keeps getting better. I would love for you to react to a couple of songs from his latest CD Game Changer. A Song for Sinners and Hello Beautiful. Thank you.
David Phelps is awesome such a powerful anointing gifted powerhouse singer Dennis this is a great song love the king of tenor singers great reaction man
Beautiful rendition as one would expect from David! Love the orchestration too with the different minor chords for effect. beautiful. Love your reviews and your reviews, we can see your emotion and love for Christ! Keep ‘‘em coming!
Long before there was David Phelps, when you talked about the voice, it meant Sandi Patti. She performed this song originally. Sandi has been awarded so many Dove Awards that even she has probably lost count. Please listen to her version of this song and be truly blessed!
Sandi Patti’s version is also beautiful. She has such an angelic voice and she does sign language while singing. You can also see Dottie’s reaction (original writer) to her singing it
He’s just beyond phenomenal. Period. This one is a huge favorite of mine. Couldn’t wait to see you react to it when he hit those high notes!!! Hugs from Minnesota!!!
I first want to thank you for your sincere response as always. You have such a gracious outlook and that is what keeps me listening to you and your responses. David Phelps has such a wonderful God given voice. When he performs in his barn studio, he's at home with his love of music. I've played this song on trumpet and there is no way you can not play or sing this without the Holy Spirit with you. God Bless you and your family are be safe brother. 🙏🏻🎺
You are so right, every concert is a worship experience. my pastor says, when you go to a David concert you have been to church. I liken it almost to a revival.
Yep.... he can sang!!!! And.. yep, major goosebumps. Everytime I hear that, I picture heaven and David is there as we all arrive and stand worshipping God. He is awesome. Best of his performances I reckon. Can't wait til you do Water - my other favourite. But anything David sings - is amazing. Love his old stuff better than his new, but thats just me. Also love his Star Spangled Banner - it will surprise you!!!!!! Great reaction.
Please do a reaction of Sandi Patti singing this. She does sign language with it. Incredible. David has a great voice also. I will never take that away from him. I love hearing him sing.
That was the last concert in the Barn before air conditioning, David said he couldn't take it anymore, and thank God, because it was sweltering in the Barn without AC.
This song was done in David's barn turned concert hall on his farm in Tennessee. He was recording a video called Freedom. It was extremely hot in the barn that day but the show went forward regardless of the heat and no one seemed to notice since the concert was spectacular. This video is one of his very best with many stunning songs of which he wrote many.
I was blessed to attend LDBB the first time in 2016! The first year with air conditioning! I was grateful! But it was secondary! I’ve seen David in person dozens of times before and after this and I still say that seeing him in his barn at his home is unequaled! Best tenor ever!
You mentioned no mistakes and that is so true! My husband and I saw him at that location in 2019, and I was amazed at his performance! I can't recall the song but he sounded ever better that time LIVE! He is THE ANOINTED BROTHER!
Written by Dottie Rambo (one of the greatest gospel songwriters of all time). First sung by the Rambos, introduced to a wider audience by Sandy Pattie. Taken to new heights by the incomparable David Phelps.
I don't think that the blowing wind is for effect. This was filmed in his barn on his property south of Nashville. I've been there twice! It gets sooo hot there, perhaps the fan was for relief from the heat. Go to his Barn Bash - such fun! He'd LOVE to meet you! He's very funny and engaging. He has another concert coming up fast at that same barn this Labor Day weekend! Wish I was going too!
This has been one of my fav songs, probably most of my life. Sandi Patty made it famous. You should probably take a listen to that. It was earth shattering so David didn’t want to touch it for years. Can’t can’t compare the two. David is beyond my fav male Christian artist. I’m actually going to his concert down here in FL next weekend. Cannot even wait! Check out the Elvis cover. The guitar. The vocals. The videography. Worth your time. Or a song off the new album, Song for Sinners, or Hello Beautiful (if ya wanna shed some tears). My fav Phelps songs if I had to choose, No More Night, O Holy Night, this one, and Gentle Savior. Long post, sorry. He gets me every time!
Hahaha… I knew by the look on your face you knew it was coming! Bill Gaither calls that David’s money note! He’s singing “Savior and Lord” on that money note
The "wind blowing his hair" are likely multiple fans blowing in the Barn that were before they installed air conditioning. I heard it was brutally hot before air conditioning!
Just recently found you. Can’t believe you haven’t heard this song. I suggest that you look up Sandy Patti and this song. She was my favorite singing this song but now David is. The setting is his barn and he does these singing there a lot. I’d like to see a comparison of the 2 singers on your channel.
Sandi Patty was one of the first Christian artists I listened to after receiving Christ. This was one of my favorites of hers. ❤️ he did it justice though :-)
King Fam I believe the last word he sings is Lord. I might have misunderstood you but I believe it is our Savior and Lord. Forgive me please if I am wrong. I enjoy your reactions.
David Phelps does an awesome job on this but you should listen to the Sandi Patty version. Dottie Rambo wrote the song and Sandi was with her when she wrote it.
Ok. New artists for you. First one is Not mainstream. His group, Anthem Lights, has been getting attention when the dancer Derek Hough, used their medley of the Greatest Showman in his live shows. But there are 4 guys in the group. I want you to check out Chad Graham. The dude is a super high counter tenor with quite the range. He has some amazing covers. Listen to Memory (in Streisand’s key!!), or his Wicked Medley. Those two kill me every time. He’s fierce with a cool very shaky vibrato, almost a trill, at the end of notes. In the group, the other voice I prefer is Joey Stamper. Instrumentalist and vocalist with a more raspy voice. Covers some soothing Sinatra stuff. Again, they are worth your time. I’m a vocal coach and singer so I spend sooo much time finding voices that I prefer. Lara Fabian’s Caruso, or Tango, or my favorite Adagio (Italian is best but she does it in English as well). People compare her to Celine but there’s a distinct difference. She collabs with Dimash if that tells you anything. I heard him do a Fabian run and found out he’s a huge fan of hers. Lastly, I’d be amazed if you have not checked out Voctave; dude, don’t wait another day. They have so much to choose from. My favs? Collab with Phelps, One called Great Movie Medley, Bring Him Home, or man. Basically anything. Prince of Egypt Medley is sick. You’ll be scratching your head. Listen to all the voices, not just the first soprano. Kate is superb but there is mega stuff happening in the group. Lots of suggestions. Choose one and let me see you fly with it! Huge fan from Palm Beach!
Sandi Patty made this song famous. She sometimes sings at the Gaither gatherings. Try this one: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-KZ3H3lg9NZM.html&ab_channel=GaitherVEVO
I prefer Sandi Patty's version of this song. This was for show but in hers, I felt the Spirit. I love David Phelps - don't get me wrong...just not his version of this song.
