No never it's bad to think it would even be thought of as dumb or anything. Dude it's Darth Vader. Even autocorrect corrected it to capitals in respect that it's a name. Like wtf . Why is 2020 a bitch like this? Take miarah carey n that damn Xmas song.
I had the pleasure of meeting Dave quite a few times over the years, I must say what a true gentleman he was. As a 16 year old lad - 40's now - he gave me his autograph for free as I did not have the £5. When I heard this news, I got something in my eye.
It’s amazing how even without his voice and look under the helmet, he contributed so much to the role with his body language and was loved by so many people across the world. It’s sad how not many people are grieving or acknowledging his death but the fact that there are still quite a few who are is so wholesome. His integral role in forming so many people’s hopes and joy cannot he understated. RIP Mr. Prowse. You lived a healthy and great life and hope you live happily wherever you are. May the Force be with you.
Your towering presence helped bring this iconic character to life. The great James Earl Jones may have given Darth Vader his talk, but you gave him his walk. Thank you for the memories, Mr. Prowse. May the force be with you...
I'm just saying, that was Hayden Christensen, not David Prowse. However I feel the exact way. RIP to a legend, a cultural icon, and the original Darth Vader.
It's not a "thick welsh accent" he's from Bristol, west of England . An ancient English port city, you know where we speak like pirates , the west country accent that Samwise Gamgee tries to do in in LOTR ...Anyway RIP David Prowse, one of Bristol's finest sons xx
Very sad news. Darth Vader was such a spectacular villain that he was played by three actors. David Prowse provided the body, James Earl Jones provided the voice and Sebastian Shaw the face.
Pulled escort duty MANY times for him over the years at many conventions while a part of the 501st Stormtrooper Legion costuming club. My fondest memories of this wonderful man was how he interacted with the fans. On one occasion helping a young soldier who was recouperating from an injury. The soldier asked Mr.Prowse for some advice on how to get back into shape and not re injure himself. Mr.Prowse told the young man to come behind the table and have a seat then spent the next several hours talking to this young man about weight training in between signing autographs.
I'm glad I met him back in 1999 at a Sci-Fi convention in Plano, TX. I even got his autograph and photo of him. I will miss him very much. The force is strong with him in heaven along with Peter Mayhew, Kenny Baker and Carrie Fisher.
Such a talented and charismatic actor. I wish George would've shown more of David Prowse in the movies, because I believe he deserved more recognition. You will be missed Vader.
There's a small family of actors in film that have played characters on a level... That has actually created cultures, changed societies, molded lives that watched those characters. Became Legends of lore... Even history has been steered by these moments created by these artists.. I don't think there's hardly anywhere in the world you wouldn't know about Darth Vader. David Prose belongs to an elite group of suit guys.... Just look at the suit guys made history in their characters: Darth Vader Godzilla.. Zenomoroh in Alien... The Predator... C3PO and R2D2.... King Kong... Outside of Alien... Darth Vader made the biggest impression of all.. Thank you David Prose for your efforts, you sold it every time, miss ya ,brother...
His voice may not have been present, but beyond David Prowse’s considerable physique, his body _language_ -that menacing juggernaut’s stalk, those gestures-helped build the character, and assured the creation of an icon. It may be an unpopular view, but I do believe that James Earl Jones provided Vader with a perfect voice-a constructed voice for a physically and emotionally crippled man who sought to transcend his past and his limitations-but imagine for a moment, David Prowse, revealed at the end of the story. Carrie Fisher is quoted as calling Prowse “Darth Farmer” because of his accent and voice. But what of it? Luke Skywalker began as a moisture farmer, and to have seen the the former Anakin Skywalker return to the soil, so to speak, would have been especially poignant... I understand that David Prowse got to play that scene some years later as part of making of the documentary _I am Your Father_ ; the scene was only presented at a convention outside of the United States, but the scene itself was not presented in the documentary for rights reasons-we should have seen that scene before Prowse’s passing; but it would be a great tribute to David Prowse now...
I may be two days late but I must say this. Thank you David for giving us one of the most famous villains of all time and one of the best characters of my childhood. May the force be with you forever.
Vader was a combination of imposing presence and terrifying voice. JEJ and David Prowse combined created the most iconic villan ever. RIP David Prowse.
His character was played at least with 3 different people to create the iconic villain. Just like Frankenstein, made of various pieces to became a legend, so was anakin Skywalker, destroyed and assembled with different parts of machines and prosthetic limbs to became Darth Vader, How ironic huh?
@@worf7271 Typical American ignorance and arrogance. Welsh and English are two different accents and countries. It's likely a foreigner assuming a Canadian and American are the same thing.
@@Kazasia-_- It's bad enough a multi million dollar news corporation to make a mistake thinking a Welsh accent is the same as a Bristol accent. When its pointed out that it's inaccessible, the arrogant American response is to dismiss it as irrelevant.
@@worf7271 No, Bristol is in England. Heck they even still use 'bist' as far as I know dialectally like ''ow bist' for 'how are you' and 'bist' is from old English aka Anglo-Saxon.
WOW!! I didn't know that David Prowse died!! I was just thinking of him yesterday. (11/30/2020) I guess that somehow I thought that he would be the next one to go since he was so old. Sad really. I always loved Darth Vader as a kid and now as an adult. He wouldn't be the same without David Prowse playing the part - no one on this earth could do it and be so convincing. He truly brought the character to life. He will be sadly missed by a lot of people not just me or those that knew him. Thank you for posting this for the rest of us.
Up late at night and can't sleep and this question just came to me : WHO IS THE PHYSICAL ACTOR ( James Earl Jones was THE VOICE) that played DARTH VADER .... and I'm just now finding this sad news. Rest In Peace and ... MAY THE FORCE BE WITH YOU !!!
Rip david darth vader prowse , chewbacca , obi wan kenobi ( sir alec guinnes) r2d2 ,princess lei ( carrie fisher) christopher lee ( revenge of the sith)& peter cushing ( star wars 1977 play sith comander)
Darth Vader definitely needs his own show or his own movie I don't know why they don't get what the public wants sometimes it's kind of stupid supply and demand give us Vader make him o p overpowered he was pure evil only dark side of the force
@@Zestfest-b5t Darth " Bring The Yeet Sisters To Me , They will regret their foolish choice to wear a Maga Hat. I decree that all Maga Hats be Banned ! The Maga Hat is Evil "
Dang, that's all he had left.... Poor guy was banned from attending all Star Wars franchised and Fan based appearances for being an aggravation to George Lucas. He was never rightfully Darth Vadar after the classically trained actor and voice impersonator James Earl Jones got on the scene (pun intended). That voice was just so silky and strong compared to the scratchy Scottish high pitch kinda leprechaun at times voice, there's just no comparison :(. But you know something, despite what we're all thinking, he was still a great actor in the portrayal of Darth Vadar at least in body language of sorts. Rest in peace old sport, although you weren't the Sith Lord we needed or wanted, you still did your part well enough. Rest Easy now.
He came to my school in Bristol when I was a kid (as the green cross code man) and kicked my dad out of a nightclub when he was a bouncer in the 1960s. Nice guy. He was how I learnt about the fact there were nine episodes. Note: He’s not welsh, he’s Bristolian,
James Earl Jones was only the voice. They were actually both the original Darth Vader; one being the performer in the suit, the other the voiceover performer. Prowse was angry for a time because his voice was replaced.
