As a self-employed investor, this is one of the best videos I've seen. For me, the most important lesson is "you have to have the discipline to enact your rules". I usually set a max loss of 4% per trade, and apply it regularly, but recently I've incurred a few big losses of around 10%. The reason for this error is simple - I DID NOT FOLLOW MY Max Loss Rule. This was mainly for trades that reversed so quickly that I couldn't believe/accept the loss. As David says "It's really you vs. you, it's not you vs. the market", so if it happens again., I only have myself to blame. Thanks Alissa, for a great video.

I keep a stock investing journal and write down if a trade went great or sour. It helps me. I've learned from myself. The journal helps you identify your good and bad moves.

This video is a must watch to improve your investing skills. Ali, you are so strong at moderating when you have guests on your youtube channel as well as when you have the wheel on IBD Live.

Investing doesn't require any skills. Just put your money on SPY and wait for 10 years. Trading on the other hand require tremendous skills.

You are definitely missing part of the point with this comment. For a lot of people, it's hard to "just" wait ten years. People are impatient - they want to be rich fast. Moreover, people don't like it when the stocks they own directly or indirectly go down. What if you put that money in and the marked falls 20%? Will you keep it there? What about six months later when it's down 30%? Or a year later when it's down 40%, inflation is hitting, war breaks out in Europe, interest is rising, every headline says stocks will underperformed the next ten years.... it's not easy to "just" sit on stocks, even indexes, for a decade. People get naturally anxious and worried.
