Even the legends like Clapton, Hendrix, Van Halen ect. , their playing is legendary and they enhance any song but David Gilmour's playing IS the story, he isn't the fastest or flashiest but he can wring more emotion out of one note than any of them can do in any entire song.
I am convinced there is some physical connection between hearing such great music and the tear ducts of human beings. I speak of the power of the instruments only, ignoring for the moment the powerful impact of lyrics. When certain musical notes, pitches, are heard, the listener's lachrymal glands in reaction exude the salty tears so many folks can attest to. Enjoy the emotions, the clearing of the eyes and freshening of the brain.
This song about homelessness and society's apathy is just heartbreaking and soul-stirring, one of my faves (the one being "High Hopes) out of the overdose of self-absorbed whininess of the last 2 albums of the Waters-led era. Introspective and melancholic melodic solos by Dave, reminiscent of "Comfortably Numb." The trio of Durga, Rachel, and Margaret is for me the best and most evocative backup vocals ever assembled by Floyd. Rick's atmospheric keyboard intro sets the song on track, Nick's tempered drumming was on point, and the most underrated is the pulsing punctuation of Guy Pratt's bass all throughout the song, highlighting the delicious guitar licks of Gilmour on the backdrop! Perfection indeed!
@@murdoch691 ikr. I was critiquing more on the music's technically, not the lyrics (altho I've already reiterated about that on the first sentence of my critique).
Sarah, it really is a pleasure to see you enjoying the band that marked my life so much. Personally, all his songs are short for me. Even with "Echoes", I'm left waiting for more. One song that I recommend you listen to is "Marooned". If you haven't already. It's just instrumental, but it's worth it. Since it was too short for me, I have a version that is repeated and lasts 1 hour. My love for Pink Floyd knows no bounds. Greetings to you and waiting for more reactions.
Pink Floyd is more then music, its an experience you get lost in! I was a teenager when Dark Side of The Moon came out in 72.I WAS HOOKED!! 64 now, still listen to them and loud!
All music is meant to take you on an emotional journey, Pink Floyd digs deep into your soul. I have listened to Pink Floyd for more than 45 years and it still gets to me.
This is more than a song. It's prayer, is a sorrow song to humanity. To all the injustices in the World. Interesting that it is a rock band who delivers this prayer. A song calling to the human race to have more compassion for our fellow man.
I love this song Sometimes I prefer it to Comfortably Numb, but then, like you Sarah, its too short! This is a fantastic band performance, the singing angels just top it off Beautiful Stay safe Sarah
It does my old heart good to see young people enjoying the music of my generation. Because one doesn't merely listen to Pink Floyd. One EXPERIENCES Pink Floyd. Welcome aboard. Love you lots.
That's when you see and hear a master at work! One of the greatest if not THE GREATEST guitar player in the world. It makes you tear up just listening !!! You are immensely lucky that you can enjoy and be part of the following ( By the way I cry every time I hear them and I am 72 years old. And a great reaction from you !!!) Kudos
"On The Turning Away", along with "Sorrow" from the same album, has one of my all-time favourite guitar solos. I'm so used to the studio version that I find myself a little baffled by this live version. Still legendary.
Watching the younger generation smile with such heart filled content listening to music that raised us older folks. This shows that rock will never die and this pleases me immensely. Great video young lady 💯🇨🇦❤️👍
You “MUST” listen and react to “Sorrow” by Pink Floyd, from the 1994 Pulse live concert. It is another unforgettable solo….and the whole band is unbelievable. You must, you must.
@@SarahDengler My gentle friend, for another example of David Gilmour being supernatural, please consider "Run Like Hell", the grand finale to the Pulse concert in 1994. David manages to violate all 10 commandments in one shot with his guitar work during that performance!!! 🕊️🌹👼 PS ..seems like lots of other reactors have done that one, with no stated problems with blocking. Stay well. 🥰
Watching young people of all races seeing my generations music in some cases for the first time and appreciating it is heart warming to me.... I've often felt music is the median that joins us all together....
Wow Sarah😊...yours was a most Excellent reaction young lady...enjoyed every minute of that. Amazing how Pink Floyd can make people feel. They really do touch your soul dont they. Excellent viewing 💯🔥❤💖💞
I finally found a reaction host who shows the kind of emotion I always feel listening to these songs. You don't even need to say anything. Your facial expressions say it all !
Seeing you enjoying this music the way you do reminds me of the first time I heard and listened to this song. Unique vibe, unique sound and meaningful lyrics as always. Your face and your smile perfectly communicate your appreciation of this song, and make us smile with you. Thank you Sarah for this moment of pure happiness.
I think that you would really enjoy the practice video for the Earl’s court performance of A Great Day For Freedom. Beautiful acoustics and great closeups of Gilmore’s guitar playing. It’s here on RU-vid.
Wow, great reaction, Sarah! Watch The Great Gig in the Sky live from the same Sound of Thunder tour (Versailles). It is the best live performance which comes the closest to the unbeatable studio version with Clare Tory.
Best comment: 10:19 ...what a journey. That's exactly what this band is doing. Take you on a journey through your heart and soul. Great reaction ! Thanks for this👌
The thing that always attracted me to David gilmour's guitar playing was not his shredding but the absolute beautiful Clarity he always plays with! He always made sure you hear every note! And one thing of Interest he is coming out with another album and based on rattle that lock his last album it this upcoming album ought to be pretty good!
You’re right it is too short. Do yourself a favor and watch David Gilmore live at Pompeii. I believe that is the absolute best performance of this song
A magic song by a class band.Hi from England and all the best and stay safe young lady.If you do have the time please have a look at Yes - South Side Of The Sky - Live in Birmingham 2003 some magic keyboard work by Rick Wakeman.Cheers.
Dave Gilmore is a f##king surgeon not a musician. The only guitarist who can use his guitar to reach in to your chest and give your heart a gentle squeeze. Unique.
It looks like that was enough to wake up a very sleepy black beautiful sister. Actually, Obi Wan Kenobi posted an even better cut version of the same performance on youtube.
