Some conservative politicians were angry with him because they thought he "politicized" his son's near death experience and used it as an opportunity to push leftist agendas. Kind of silly imo, Jimmy was just saying he thought people should not have to die due to lack of funds. I mean, I can see how his plea for access to healthcare for everyone could be construed as an idea more in line with the left way of thinking, but the idea that Jimmy consciously conjured up the idea to exploit the experience of his son for the sake of making a strong political statement (which is what they were implying) is ridiculous.

Yes, he was crying about almost losing his son and immediately began pushing his political agenda and bashing Trump. As a talk show host like Jimmy he shouldn't be pushing political opinions in people's faces, people like Stephen Colbert can because their whole show is focused on politics rather than celebrities talking about movies. That, on top of the fact he decided to do it when talking about his son almost dying is pretty shallow
