This overview was outstanding. You covered the best questions and did so efficiently. Nice work. I just picked up the iPad Pro M2, 12.9 yesterday. I broke my budget to get the 1TB version because it has 16GB of unified RAM and I figured Davinci Resolve would use it. I could have bought a laptop for less but I really enjoy the iPad experience and IOS has a tonne of little apps that are like cheat codes for my video business.
@@NikhilKumar-yq1fx if you do, you will only get 8gb of ram. You need to go 1tb in order to get 16gb. Video memory is a big deal for video editing. Of course it will still run and you might be fine. See if someone has done a DaVinci resolve performance test of 8gb vs 16gb ram. I really stretched my budget. I’m broke AF right now… I’ll get over it…
@@NikhilKumar-yq1fx so this test shows that 8gb is just as good for the tests that he ran. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-TrlpuvHg_Ig.html
6:45 yeah, I noticed it working with Lightroom. I simply snapped my iPad on a metal tray from IKEA and it was good enough to work as a heat sink, so I’ve got the full power back! BTW, could you please test different cooling solutions for iPad? 😉
External storage is amazing. I’ve tried and for some reason don’t know how to change the storage to an external. Just gotta do some research on how to set it up. Very glad it’s possible though.
The upcoming Apple Vision Pro will be able to run apps for the iPad Pro. Is there any possibility that we could see a version of DaVinci Resolve that's optimized for VR/AR, allowing users to create virtual sets where they could walk around and place objects, lights and cameras anywhere in 3D space?
woah that's pretty mindblowing, i didn't know resolve for ipad was a thing. i found about it looking stuff up now that the new ipad m4 is out and it's interesting what the form factor can do.
This is an excellent video. I just got Davinci resolve for my M1 iPad and I’m really looking forward to putting it to work after watching your video. Thanks for posting.
I have an iPad Pro M2 and I would like to know if in the free version of Davinci Resolve I can import to the project, edit and export videos in H265 HEVC. It is not entirely clear to me that the Studio version is the one that allows decoding in H265. That wouldn't affect my case, right? Thank you so much!
Great content. Quick question though. For a total newbie to video editing, would DaVinci Resolve for iPad be a great / practical way to get into it or would it be better to start off on the full computer version first before trying the iPad version?
DaVinci is probably the most complex and complicated video editing software on the market right now, so for a totally new editor it'll be a really, really steep learning curve. Final Cut Pro will probably be the easiest to learn but still not totally easy, and Premiere Pro being in the middle of Final Cut and DaVinci
@@ryanzspaulding Thanks for the response. Much appreciated. With more and more great video editing apps appearing on the iPad, merely choosing one as a starting point for a newbie becomes daunting in and of itself. More so when intending to go the long haul with the app, with limited time to allocate for the learning curve and yet needing to choose a "one size fits all" app with the potential to meet all possible future project challenges and requirements.
Have you had any problems adding third-party transitions to da Vinci an iPad? I can get them on the program they just freeze and the program crashes. And I lose all my data.
Hello friend. I installed DaVInci Resolve 18 on my iPad Pro 12.9 but, in the COLOR tab, when I click on EFFECTS (FX), the LIBRARY with the effects does not open. Do you know what it could be? Thanks!
Once the SSD/Drive is plugged in you simply ‘import media’ from Davinci via the Apple ‘Files’, it’s very straight forward and quick. Only thing to be wary of, it only reads certain formats i.e MP4’s, mov etc. nothing too niche
Is there an SSD that also has a slot for an SD card? I’m wondering how you can totally work on a project using the external storage. Do you import the files from a desktop first?
Can you help? I have downloaded video clips from my Photos to my Resolve media pool on my iPad Pro but some of the thumbnails show as red rather than an image from the clip. What has happened? All help would be appreciated. Thanks.
Is there a way to turn on the time and date meta data so I can have a time date counter at the bottom of my video? It’s the only thing I need to accomplish before switching completely to an IPad.
I'm in the boat right now with looking into the iPAD pro m2 12.9'' with the 1TB version. I could ALSO get a MBP or even M2 Mac Air that just came out but as mentioned... I really LOVE The imersive experience of the iPad over a laptop. Viewing photos using touch and pencile and just enjoyment of using it is much better than a laptop which I loved.. I'm holding off though and looking forward to an M3 iPAd pro coming up early next year.
