Just staring out myself with Davinci Resolve and just found your channel. If you do little tutorials like that for all the little things in Davinci then you'll have a decent big following in no time. Thank you for the effort.

Nick Smith thanks for the words of encouragement! That’s the idea. At the moment in the early days I want to cover the basics and get them out of the way, hence my intro series but the idea is to chip away at these smaller but powerful and valuable tool and feature as time goes on :)

This kind of adjustment may also introduce noises. How to reduce the noise? Thanks.

Hi, Lee. Thanks for your videos. I'm Adobe After Effects user. But I'm thinking of switching to Resolve. I love everything in After Effects expect one - speed. On my channel, I'm making animated films, and usually, AE works tremendously slow. Especially when there are a lot of objects in a scene. Sometimes I have to wait 3 or 5 minutes until the program prerender a short 10-20 piece of footage when the scene is complicated enough. So here is the question. How faster will Resolve work in this case? I always use 3d compositing in my films. And I also have purchased GTX 1070 (8gb) recently, which is completely ignored by After Effects. Need your advice.

Hi there. The main problem I see is that fusion is a RAM hog! So it can easily get bottle necked with low a low amount or RAM ( even 32gb is considered on the low side with fusion) . There are work arounds such as cacheing complex assets to a disc etc to help it run smoother. It is important to note that while Resolve aims heavily at being GPU accelorarted that it does require good hardware across the board if you want it running in tip top shape. My honest answer is that right now with the current state of both programs is that it's 50:50. But I do see resolve jumping ahead and continuing to do so. So many people are jumping ship from Adobe and with the money I'm saving by getting the studio edition of Resolve compared to paying the monthly subscription plan of Adobe my hardware is upgrading itself over time in a sense. Sorry I couldn't give you a definitive answer but hopefully that helps in someway. Feel free to ask any other question, happy to help :)

Thanks for such a quick answer. Anyway, I'm going to give Resolve a shot. By now only two things about it make me nervous. It's instability and lack of advanced tutorials on youtube. But anyway, thanks for the information!

@@MercenaryCamp I hear ya. Instability is definetly not great and this is compounded by lower spec hardware. No denying it's and intensive piece of software. For more advance fusion tutorials i would recommend JayAretv. Maybe it's just JayAre but you won't have problems finding that channel. Jay is the man!

So then, basically you're saying that there's no more precise way of selecting those points except for through the mouse pointer? I'm not exactly clumsy, yet I manage to nudge those points sometimes when attempting to select them.

Pretty much. I feel your pain, I like to be very precise and I hate that they nudge so easily! I’ve been using a plugin called CineMatch recently and it has its own set of HSL curves within it and you can lock the vertical and horizontal axis by shift / control clicking the point you want to move and it’s lovely! I don’t know how resolve hasn’t implemented something so obvious already!

Thanks for that suggestion. Will check it out. Yeah, one would imagine that as a given. Providing such shortcuts. Guess not.
