I actually like the reprints. The reprinted races are fitting for the setting and not everybody has a thousand dollars to spend on buying every D&D book, so its nice that you have all you need for a theros adventure in one book.

I know it doesn’t come up much for people like us who buy all the books, but having all the races you need for a setting in the book for that setting is probably pretty useful for people who want to try it and aren’t made of money.

I'm excited for this book, its fits super well with my MTG campaign. As the forever DM I started a campaign in ravnica and then through a series of events trying to solve the mysteries of a new cult forming as an "11th guild" my players and the BBEG we're transported by a device that acts as a synthetic planeswalker medium. Problem is they cant control it, they're able to go home but when they use it trying to find where the villian went they go to a random plane. Theyve been to innistrad, Kamigawa, Zendikar, New Phyrexia and most recently Tarkir. After buying it think I'll use this plane as the final stop where my BBEG ended up when they separated. Get the Gods of theros involved and cause some interplanetary havoc. Might unlock the device and allow them to bring all their allies and friends from all the other planes to come help stop the BBEG. Also as far as the Oath of Glory being underpowered goes, Nothing a little homebrew cant fix.

The old Star Wars Revised Splat books did a great job of giving you a few fun adventure hooks for every planet or city they talked about. This ended up being one of my favorite parts of those books.

Leonin can be reflavored as a Ronso and I know some people who’d be all over that

The Oath of Glory feels more like a strongman to me than a traditional hero. It makes me want to run a campaign centered around the ancient Olympics, because that's where Glory would really shine. This is the kind of varsity frat bro who can win a chariot race on foot, while carrying the chariot AND horses, and casts Charm Person by flexing. His abs are his holy symbol and he worships at a shrine consisting of his high school championship trophies and a mirror. This dude is an absolute meathead, he knows it, he loves it, and he knows you love it too. This class plus the gladiator background (for performance proficiency) is a match made in heaven, and I can't wait to run this obnoxious narcissist in a future campaign.

I love how this whole book is about *Sucking the Pickle* of the *Saytr and Bard* (So much for wanting to be a *Lion Paladin* )

Fun fact! Harps were not widely used in both medieval and ancient times, as they were often too cumbersome to move, too fragile and hard to make. Thus, you were more likely to find people playing a smaller version, which could be held and moved quite easily and which would open your Bard up to make all kinds of "You calling me a Lyre?" puns.

Bruh your words about losing steam sometime during Mark of Athena hit me hard. Even more so after Blood of Olympus where it's supposed to be THE endgame where all the heroes and gods come together to kick giant ass. Instead of the entire Heroes of Olympus books showcasing the urgency and nitty gritty consequences of war like in The Last Olympian, it just...fell flat,and felt like an everyday quest to retrieve the Athena Parthenos and hoping everything goes right afterwards. Anyways with that out of the way,lovely video as always. I needed this summed up quick while writing a concept for a oneshot anyways lmao.

I wish there were more classes that are built with mounted combat in mind.

I really love Theros. It’s such a cool world, I love the gods and the lore, and all the crazy nonsense. We finally have a setting that encourages DM’s and players to make an all out crazy heroes versus godly monsters campaign where it doesn’t matter how crazy strong the players are, because that’s the point. Ok, but seriously. It’s an awesome setting. I’d love to run a Theros campaign for my players.

I could see a dex based oath of Ancient's Paladin and really laying into the magic resistance ability. Plus it would provide a naturey feeling build option that uses the Saters stat buffs. Also I'm suprized that the oath of glory paladin subclass didn't really lean into the whole folly of arrogance deal that Greek heroes were so famous for... Except Hercules who was apparently more wrath... Eh, he was always more of a barbarian anyways.

I feel like the spell list (bar 2nd level) makes Oath of Glory pretty sweet, Guiding Bolt is a nice option for Strength paladins especially when things refuse to enter melee range.

I think the main reason everyone thinks the Satyr is broken is because it is considered Fey not humanoid. Which means you can't cast any spells that target a humanoid like Hold Person on them, you need to hit them with Hold Monster instead. And even if you hit them with that they still got the natural magic resistance for those spells.

I'm just here for Claudio playing a Gibson double-neck.

Honestly my biggest problem with the Satyr, is that they count as fey not humanoid. Because that makes them immune to effects like hold person, charm person, suggestion, and on and on and on.

ngl leonin is probably my favourite race i just think its rlly fkn cool for an npc aspect for like a lawmaster or a war hero u go and ask to help out for a bossfight or even mabye a mobster

The Satyr being Fey with magic resistance is actually quite strong. Now hold/charm/dominate does not work as well as advantage on all spell saves. It makes them quite the threat against most caster style enemies, which I think comes up a bit more often over a campaign usually then a yuan-ti's poison immunity.

As someone who voraciously read about the ancient world. (And yea I read the percy jackson series) This setting has set my imagination aflame and I cant wait to do a campaign in theros.

(something something 6 something something non-thumbnail art) I'm glad the Paladin got a new subclass. The Paladin is definitely my favorite class in theory, but the only actual subclasses it has that I'm fond of are the original 3 PHB ones. I might try out the Oath of Glory if given the chance. Of course that chance will probably be after a physical release happens cuz I have a baseless bias towards pages.

The trick is Oath of Glory's spell list and the fact none of the abilities get in the way of Paladin as a whole. Plus, Bear Totem Barbarian, Glory Paladin, Brawny feat, and Goliath can make you the greatest Grappler in the universe, giving you a massive lift and carry, capable of lifting frankly ridiculous things with ease and theoretically just yeet MFers into low orbit with the power of Lucha

A big bonus in the oath of glory is that guiding bolt, having any form of range as a paladin is heretical. Especially without multiclassing.

It figures that something like this would come out right after I invested in the Odyssey of the Dragonlords kickstarter, the main selling point being the Greco-roman setting. But seeing the "new" material in Theros compared to the stuff in OoTD, I think WotC lost this fight.

Also, the Oath of Glory is the only Paladin sublcass that allows you to use it more than once per long rest by spending a 5th level spell slot on.

I like the idea that at level 8, A goliath oath of glory paladin with an enhance ability cast on them can lift an adult dragon. or a hydra.

I am going to defend the Oath of Glory paladin's channel divinity. The aura of alacrity is lame, true, but the ability to recover Temp HP has worked some wonders in my party. Our Paladin has made the "smite after crit" practice even scarier for me as a master as he suddenly gains half his HP as buffer, allowing him to just charge like a madman into the bulk of combat

Reprinting some of the old material like races is a good thing though - not everyone has every splatbook, nor can they afford to.
