My 6 year old son just watched the documentary last night. He is now completely in love. He has watched it 4 times today. It would be amazing to see a cartoon series. My son would love to see them sing Johnny B. Goode. Thanks again for creating something that was so positive to look back on. RockaFire was a huge part of my childhood.
This video was a pleasant surprise. The Monkees medley is one of my top favorite RAE recordings, so it's a pleasure to see this just because of that (brings back good memories of listening to this on the way to college a few years ago and laughing at Fatz saying 'beautimus'). This is a wonderful tribute to a wonderful person!
I wanted to show my 8 year old daughter the band from Showbiz Pizza, where I used to go to friends’ birthday parties when I was her age. It just so happens that Davy Jones died on the day she was born. I remember being wheeled out of the operating room, kind of out of it, and finding out he had passed away and I cried (everyone wrote it off to me being high on the morphine). I always watched Monkees after school in the 80s, and even though the show was 20-something years old, I LOVED Davy. That was a very bittersweet Leap Day. She does love that her birthday is in this video though.
Hearing Billy Bob sing Cheer up Sleepy Gene (daydream beliver) it was always cheer up sleepy gene to me. makes me want to cry. When I was very little, i loved this song and I'd listen to it on repeat i was around 5 or 6. (I'm 13 now) And listening to it by my favorite band makes me so happy
This really brings me back. I was a kid in the early 1980s and used to swear that these were real living creatures. LOL, I refused to believe they were robots.
This is such an awesome tribute! I guess it's been 30 years ago now, but I had one of my birthday parties at Showbiz Pizza. We didn't live close to one, but my mom drove me there since I really wanted to go. Anyway, the band sang us this for my birthday because I was a huge Monkees fan.
We had my birthday at showbiz like 28 years ago. And I don't think they played this song. This show tape came out in 2012. I think or he just added somethings
I worked at the "Showbiz pizza" on Montfort in Dallas next door to Target, across the street from the soon to be demolished "Valley View mall" to construct the outdoor "Midtown shopping center." All of the Showbiz pizza place locations in Dallas became "Chuck E. Cheese pizza." I no longer have to work after the hit and run motor vehicle accident March 15,2017. I volunteer at the Habitat for Humanity Restore south Collin county campus. I had worked the midnight - 4 am at the Steak n Shake on Montfort. Before I could get back to my house in Plano, unknown motor vehicle driver knocked me off of my bike and rewarded me with a fractured pelvis, a 6 " scar on my abdomen and a TBI with a scar on my scalp. I was in rehab at Neurorestorative in Tyler (again) learning how to put weight on my right leg for 5 months. The Richardson nor Plano police ever caught the motor vehicle driver, so today is his/her "lucky day".....forever. David S.
Really cool to see them play a tribue. I like the fact you kept the bands original voices and not just dubbed the songs to them. Mitzi was really great. I remember the rock-a-fire gang from when I was little. Thank you for video.
I don’t know if anyone cares but I’m 17 as of 2022 so I never got to see one of these shows or even visit Showbiz as it was past my generation. But when I found out about animatronics back in 2014 or so, I never got scared of them like others during the fnaf rave. Instead I actually became incredibly interested in their movements, mechanics, and overall how they worked in general. I had taken apart a furby toy and successfully put it back together at the age of 11 (or 12 I can’t exactly remember). I’ve been tinkering with robotic toys and drawing up my own animatronic blueprints ever since. This old 80s animatronic band has seriously impacted my life 20 years after closing. (And I haven’t even seen a single show) I feel like a old man telling his grandchildren stories of how he built a company with his bare hands lol. But seriously, please keep these videos coming and maybe (just maybe) rock-afire explosion can entertain folks once again :)
What a well put together show. Thanks so much for this. I tested positive for COVID and started feeling really discouraged today, until I ordered pizza and watched this (couldn’t enjoy the pizza of course due to lack of taste/smell, but I tried) Something about eating pizza and watching these shows, and I’m 42 yrs old.

This is the kind of cool stuff kids are missing in their childhoods today. Rock afire was a huge wonderful memory and I had quite a few birthdays at Showbiz pizza because of them. It was something I will treasure forever. Kids today need that and don't have it.
1. I have so many memories seeing the rock, a fire explosion perform at my local Showbiz as a kid in the 80s. Aaron’s awesome creations were really the only things that gave me a sense of true freedom…. They still do. I even had my first date at age 5. Took her to a rock, a fire explosion show. She loved it I’m so glad fans are keeping the rock a fire explosion characters alive, putting blood sweat and tears of joy into it. Please forget all the five nights at Freddy’s bull sh**.
This, in my opinion, is the best show. I love it so much. I love RAE so much as a whole. These guys are so close to my heart. I want to see them Almost more than anything. 💖💖
Not necessarily. Pizza Time Theater and Showbiz Pizza Place were separate entities before the videogame crash of 1983 caused the demise of Pizza Time Theater created by Atari founder Nolan Bushnell. Meanwhile, Bob Brock, who left the financially-struggling Nolan Bushnell, helped Creative Engineering founder & Rockafire Explosion creator (and primary character voice actor) Aaron Fetcher make Showbiz Pizza Place flourish. In the wake of its primary competition filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, corporate Showbiz management quickly pounced on the opportunity & seized all of their primary competitor's assets. Under the joint merger, they first went by the name Showbiz Pizza Time Theater, Inc. & sold both Showbiz Pizza Place AND Chuck E. Cheese merch AND had both the walk-arounds of Billy Bob Brockali & Chuck E. Cheese on-hand to greet patrons. At the same time, however, the merger soured relations between visionary Aaron Fetcher & corporate execs running the arcade pizzeria enterprise behind-the-scenes. In fact, executives running the company wanted Aaron to just up & sell them the Rockafire outright without being compensated for it, yet considering how that he was the original voice for over half of the band & sees the characters like a father does their children, Aaron put his foot down, effectively telling corporate management to sod off. So when Aaron departed, taking the licensed ownership of the Rockafire characters with him, all 3-stage restaurants that had the Rockafire mechs converted them to the Pizza Time Players under their new umbrella name of Munch's Make-Believe Band (Chuck is Rolfe De Wolfe sans Earl Schmerle, Mr. Munch is Fatz Geronimo, Munch Jr. was Choo Choo, The Wink is Antioch the Birthday Spider, the animated Building backdrop used the Sun/Moon mech, Jasper Jowls is Beach Bear with Dook LaRue's eyes moved to Dook LaRue's center stage position, Helen Henny is Mitzi Mozzarella & Pasqually is Dook LaRue with Beach Bear's eyes taken off center stage & replacing Billy Bob Brockali & Looney Bird on the far left - visual far right - stage & the quickly retired Pizza Cam briefly used Looney Bird's mech, with Billy Bob's mech sold for scrap parts or else, hopefully sold back to Aaron Fetcher to be used for another show or else, like everything else Showbiz, "destroyed as these will never be used again"). In America, the remaining Rockafire shows are in small-town communities owned by selective Discovery Zone-style arcades/kid play places (ex: Billy Bob's Wonderland), the restored Bear-a-Dice roadside park attraction or else, owned by private collector super fans (Chris Thrash, Smitty's Super Service Station [yes it exists in real-life, although it's likely they don't use actual gasohol for their fuel], Snap's Blast to the Past Museum before the 2010 fire destroyed his show, Kansas City's Rockafire Arcade Bar, etc.). All others have been shipped overseas for use in non-Disney theme parks.
Danielle Kirby hey chuck e cheese and showbiz pizza are both the same and i like the both of them so don’t judge the pizza of chuck e cheese ok cause we like chuck e cheese and showbiz pizza so don’t be mean ok
These videos are amazing! My local CEC started out as a Showbiz (Orange Park/Jax, FL...). I was TERRIFIED of these as a young child (4 or 5) and we could not sit in the showroom when we went lol. Even today, watching these I have a little bit of that fright in the pit of my stomach. Later on I worked at 2 different CEC locations before they changed to the newsdesk themed stage. I was obsessed with how these things worked.
There seems to be some confusion about the location of Davey Jones locker. Some think it's at the bottom of the ocean. The truth is Davey had many different lockers in his lifetime. Various lockers in his school years on dry land at those schools. During some concerts he might use a locker at that venue. Lastly in his final days he had a locker at his local gym. Can you imagine how incredibly inconvenient it would have been to dive to the bottom of the ocean to get your books between classes. What about changing after a workout ? Do you really want wet clothes ? Let me assure you Davey's locker is easily accessible. As to it's contents , namely Daveys heart : that is currently in the possession of Marsha Brady Davey's greatest crush. I do so hope that clears up any confusion.
Ok you to be spending a lot of words in an attempt to make a little joke. Extremely little. You need to internalize the concept that less can be more. But on the outside chance that you are sincere, let me clear up a few things for you: #1:
Me too! I'd do practically ANYTHING to visit the 80s just ONCE I'd love to relive all these amazing things in the 80 Teddy Ruxpin Cricket dolls the Rock-afire Showbiz. It sounds crazy coming from a 13 year old, but I honestly want to be able to visit the 80s, but tis impossible
