Early 1980s [ 1982 ? ] - Davy Spillane and "Moving Hearts" play a tune composed by Davy for the Pope's visit to Ireland, followed by the reel "My Love Is In America"
Fell in love with “the hearts” when I lived in cork in 84/85. Discovered so much great Irish music at that time like Freddie White and Mary coghlan. Saw the hearts live in Liverpool in about 2012 (not sure) for the first time…… what a gig!!!!
I just love uilleann pipers they are a breed apart and this, in my humble opinion, is one of the most iconic pieces / images of piping ever from Davy, I mean... just look at the man, unbelievable! Happy New Year everyone, please God let 2021 allow us to get back to those wonderful trad sessions across all parts of Ireland.
well said.. unreal footage of them all in their prime.. i have never seen any live video from them like this until tonight.. i'm blown away. Davy is a beast.. he is clearly in charge of the whole scenario we are watching..
@@DaddyLaser Agreed, such a brilliant bunch of individual musicians and along with Planxty a true "Superband" if ever there was one, sadly I fear we will never see their like again...That said, Dubhlinn Band with Blackie O'Connell (a good mate of Davy's of course) and the lads are on another planet compared to most trad bands today and absolutely amazing when they are on fire!
@@Lissadell1916 thanks for the recommendation, but I can't find much online about them.. have they released any albums? The only band I have heard come close to that magic is Kila in the pre-2010 era.. sadly they became too "world-music" style for my taste after 2010. check out their track Boy Racer on my channel
@@DaddyLaser Also just search Blackie O'Connell on you tube lots there for you with Cyril and Davy for example ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-OUo_9A3nZV0.html All the best to you now and good luck.

I saw Moving Hearts live at The Point in Dublin after the release of The Storm, and to this day it was one of the best, most exciting gigs ever, and I have been to a lot of concerts.
Mighty powerful. I just happened across this by accident. Makes me feel old as I watch this video. How time passes quickly! I can recall those days when both Davy, Christy & Donal & many others were in the prime of their musical careers. So right that we need to see more of these old videos to truly appreciate our talent in Ireland from years ago & today. Where have they gone? I truly miss hearing & being a part of the music scene in Ireland. Now nearly 70 yrs of age, I play solo on my low whistle, flute & or pan flute of stuff I've written years ago & still do. But oft times I think it would be awesome to collaborate with some of these old fellas now. Thanks a million for posting this video. Brings back some great memories for me & keeps them alive.
Il concerto dovrebbe collocarsi fra agosto e ottobre 1982, fra la pubblicazione di "Dark end of the Street" e l'uscita dal gruppo di Christy Moore. Forse siamo negli stessi giorni del live at Putney, del settembre 1982
