Dawkins in the Classroom: London Students Debate God, Darwin & the Origin Of Life

The Poetry of Reality with Richard Dawkins

I led a classroom of London high schoolers for a Channel 4 documentary, on the subject of Charles Darwin and evolution. It inspired questions from curious young minds that I then engaged with - about the nature of religious belief, about time and space, and about the truth of the origin of life.

In fact you chose to believe in it since there are no proofs at all so whether you have been brought up by believing in it or not it is irrelevant.....still if you listen you your teacher here you will see that you are contraddicting yourself: if you were brought up in india one would be hindu whereas if born in the middle east one would be either jew or muslim. That is so stupid that your teacher does not know what he is talking about. Believing in something is a choice acquired after studying / research etc etc I was brought up by atheists, left school very early simply becuase i could not listen to all this bloody british non-sense. Those who brought me up tried everything to turn me into an atheist but did not work out so, again, it is a choice to believe in something whether you are proofs or you have none just like Richard here.......start thinking.

God is the origin of all. The question "does God exist?" means "was the universe created from an intelligent entity?". The universe or creation is what has a beginning of existence, like for example you, you didn't exist before you were born. When atheists say the universe was created from a singularity, Big Bang, multiverse or anything else what they mean is the universe was created from more universe because no eternal intelligent entity is involved in the creation of reality. You don't have to believe in God because God is necessary because logically it is impossible the existence of the creation or finitude without the creator or infinitude. To discover God you have to understand it is better for you if God exists because without God life is ultimately meaningless and death is terrifying. To discover God you have to understand reality is eternal because from nothing can not be created something. Nothing is absence of existence. Nothing is what innocent and vulnerable children understand by nothing. Nothing is what you get explaining to deaf ears. Either what has a beginning of existence is eternal or what created what has a beginning of existence is eternal. Either the universe is eternal or God is eternal. One option is logically impossible and the other is necessary. Logically it is impossible the existence of an infinite number of causes and effects, therefore an eternal first uncaused cause that caused what has a beginning of existence must exist. God exists as certain as I exist. God decided to create the universe from an eternal existence uncaused and to understand reality you have to understand why. God is everything that exist past, present and future. It is just an idea that can not do harm to anyone. To end the war and atheism and religion the discovery that atheism is a logical fallacy has to be news. The truth, the divine reality, is atheism is a logical fallacy that assumes God is the religious idea of the creator of the creation to conclude wrongly no creator exists because a particular idea of God doesn’t exist. I will rephrase the atheist logical fallacy to facilitate the understanding. Atheism is a logical fallacy that assumes God is "sky daddy" to conclude wrongly no creator exists because "sky daddy" doesn't exist. You have to get out of the circle. You are trapped inside the circle. The circle is hurting you. I am talking about your eternal existence. Thank you.

There have been thousands of gods people believed in. All gods are man-made concepts but have never been proven to exist in reality. All religions are man-made too and often with rules and doctrines in favour of men. And the concept of a god is constructed on purpose so that it can not be falsified. "It" is supposed to "exist" " out of space and out of time", was "itself" not "created" ( specialpleading) , and is supposed to have "created" everything " out of nothing" ( again special pleading), with the coming into existence of the species of great apes called the Homosapiens, after millions of years of evolution, in mind! And then that imaginary "entity", the "creator" of the trillions and trillions of galaxies, is also supposed to care about what and when the Homosapiens should eat, what clothes women should wear, with whom they should have sex with and in what position, etc. Absurdity squared! Moreover, this god is not detectable in any way! That are exactly the same characteristics of something that does not exist! That's very suspicious isn't it? It is an insult to my intelligence and it should be an insult to the intelligence of everybody else including all the so-called "believers"! There is not a shred of evidence for the existence of ANY god or Allah or whatever name they gave to their non-existing celestial dictator! It's about time to grow up and to leave all that supernatural nonsense of ANY religion and all those bronze age myths behind and to deal with the REAL NATURAL WORLD!

"3rd day seed/plant....5th day marine life--birds...6th day terrestrial mammals---humans". HOW is that distinct from "descent with modification"?! FN REMARKABLE!! Genesis provides accounting for oxygen on earth allowing for subsequent animal life. Genesis' offers ONLY a koan for first life: plant/seed 4th day prima facie enunciates; "days/seasons/years...for purposes of sacred observance". OF COURSE, removing all doubt "days" references epochs not 24 hour days. Repeatedly the separation between 3rd & 5th days affirms a reverence for animal life not accorded plants. ---The first page of chapter 4 of The God Delusion has Dawkins claiming to repudiate physicist/atheist Fred Hoyle's contention that 'life beginning on earth is as likely as a hurricane assembling a fully functioning Boeing 747'. Dawkins says, 'oh no, poor boy; he fails to appreciate the miracle of natural selection'. Dawkins' worshipful genuflection to natural selection is woefully in opposition to Darwin's chapter 6: "numerous, successive, slight modification". The 2nd Law of Thermodynamics NEVER/EVER/NEVER/EVER allows inanimate objects to proceed through numerous, successive, slight modification. That IS an absolute antonym of 2nd Law; THE MOST proven law known to humans. Einstein said, '..is the one law of universal content which will NEVER be overthrown" IT HASN'T BEEN! Dawkins is a carny barker fool, and I could continue effectively endlessly with his idiocy. HE'S LITERALLY TOO STUPID TO INSULT..BUT IT'S MADE HIM VERY RICH

You are joking, he's brainwashing the poor kids with his garbage! He even admits evolution is only a theory! Child asks, why is evolution still only a 'theory'? Dawkins replies "don't worry about that" haha what a joker. He even debunks it himself, when he tells the kid 'we used to have a theory the Earth was round, but now we've been in space we know it round, so we call it a fact now! Dawkins follows that scientific pearl by telling the child "don't worry about why we still call evolution a theory". His exact words... He's making it up as he goes along! Listen how often Dawkins uses the word 'probably', Sorry Dawkins 'probably' ain't a very scientific word! Oh and when you google Denisovans and that cute fake homind puppet appears, remember that all they have is one finger bone and a tooth! The puppet is total fantasy but it makes Dawkins go all gooey eyed. It's no different to pictures of angels in the Bible!

The value of educating children about the facts of evolution cannot be overstated. It's concerning to hear about the prevalence of religious indoctrination in schools, especially when it comes at the expense of teaching scientific facts like evolution. In my country, Romania, children are subjected to religious education from a very young age, with classes starting as early as first grade and continuing throughout their entire schooling. And I am talking about regular schools, not faith schools here! These classes often begin and end with prayers, creating an environment that prioritizes religious indoctrination. In a typical school year, comprising approximately 35 weeks, students undergo one session of religious education per week, beginning in first grade and continuing for 12 years. This accumulates to a total of 420 hours dedicated to religious education. In contrast, the allocation for teaching evolution is notably limited, with only one session provided in the 2nd semester of the 8th grade and another at the end of the 12th grade (when, in both cases, most students are concerned with the admission to highschool/college) - adding to a total of 2 classes in 12 years. I vividly remember my own experiences with this system. In second grade (when I was about 8 years old) , I dared to question the existence of God in my religious education class, only to be met with shock and admonishment from my teacher, who told me never to DARE say that again during her classes. Instead of fostering critical thinking, these classes often instill fear by teaching children about concepts like hell and divine punishment. It's clear that there's a need for more emphasis on science-based education, particularly when it comes to topics like evolution. Every child deserves the opportunity to learn about the natural world without the imposition of religious dogma! The educational system could benefit from more educators like Professor Dawkins.

The young mind is very malleable and very naive. Unfortunately, it doesn't have much defence against irrational arguments or beliefs being imposed upon it. If children were very difficult to teach they would be far less likely to survive, so the young mind *has* to be accepting of information coming in as fact. However, children don't have prior information upon which is filter out implausibility, so they have to accept it alongside what may actually be useful information. The more irrationality that is introduced to the young mind the more gunked up that mind becomes. Eventually, usually around the teenage years, the mind becomes more likely to repel contradictory knowledge and more likely to refuse arguments from authorities. So, if the gunk hasn't been cleared out by that point it becomes *very* difficult to remedy. The more gunked up a mind is, the more irrational the mind becomes. We see this with some of the students here, unable to get past the initial premise that the 'holy book' that was fed into them at a young age is not evidence is any rational way. The contradictory evidence that *is* rational gets repelled rather than processed. Thus, an irrational base is very difficult to erode with rational arguments because the 'software' for processing that rationality has either never been uploaded or has been overwritten with irrationality. I do not know the answer to this; I'm not sure there is actually is a 'good' way to remove irrationality once it becomes so established since the only truly 'good' way cannot be used. What we need see is a ban on feeding irrational information to children, in the same way we ban alcohol and tobacco consumption with children. This means not taking children to religious organisations. Prosecuting adults who feed religion to a child. Once they are adults they would then hopefully have a good base of rationality to work from. At that point it becomes necessary to allow freedom of choice - because at that point choice is actually informed and therefore meaningful. It will likely not occur in any country with a sizeable religion population, so we'll just have to hope that strong consisten arguments are made in schools for rational arguments to counter well-meaning, but ultimately harmful, parents blasting religion at the child.

Everything? He does nothing, he's not contributed to the science in any way! He just lies to children! Did you even watch this video? Dawkins changed the questions two kids asked because he cannot answer them; 'how could the heart evolve' and 'why is evolution still only a theory'! Even worse, Dawkins attempted to shut down an enquiring mind by telling the girl "don't worry about why evolution is still only a theory" before immediately moving on to the next question! Appalling attitude! He's a liar, you cannot prove evolution! Google image Denisovans, look at the stupid cute looking hominid creature that appears and then ask yourself, how could evolutionists have a clue that it looks like this, when the only Denisovans remains found are a single tooth and one finger bone! They obviously have no clue what it looked like, how tall or hairy it was etc etc. It's a lie, a fiction, a hoax to brain wash every child and uneducated person that sees it! Evolution is a lie.

It is obvious, that he is not, of course an expert in cosmology. His description is not precise (there is nothing wrong with it, just few people would be able to describe it precisely and I am definitely one of them). But to correct him a bit: Big bang was an expansion. The thing about time begining to exist is better to be explained by the characteristics of time in the singularity. We are not sure, if our extrapolation is correct, but if it is, universe would be at the start of Big Bang in a state of singularity and that would be absolutely small and absolutely dense point. And under those conditions, the time would have to be absolutely slow - nothing would ever change for external observer. That means, we have no way to recognise any "before" where there is no timeline, just a single solo point from which we cannot move back to history. Therefore, no "before the Big Bang" makes sense. Why the singularity expanded is a good question. And I doubt we will ever find out. But who knows.
@briansmith3791

Roger Penrose would have once said there was no 'before' the Big Bang, but he changed his mind later. He said "the Big Bang did not come from Nothing, it came from "incredibly complex geometry, 1: 10^10^124. This is an observable fact".

"it can be argued that these Constants are very finely-tuned or we wouldn't be here". Dawkins ( Poetry of Reality, Aliens, God 31-33mins). " Our conclusion is that the fundamental properties of the universe appear to be fine-tuned for Life"- 'A Fortunate Universe' book by theoretical physicists Lewis and Barnes. We have observable evidence for one fine-tuned universe with emergent unguided processes such as evolution by natural selection. The fine-tuning argument rules out any Religious Gods, but points to a Mind behind all this.

There are some inherited cancer syndromes as you point out. Some of them can cause leukaemia. If you can reproduce before you succumb to the cancer process, then natural selection will not remove these errors. In the wild, if the elder members of the group play an important role, then any premature death has a survival disadvantage; elephants and some primates. Rodents, insects and most birds less so.

[RATE MY THEORY / 1-10 Good to Bad]: (part 1; the doo-doo sandwich "💩 + 🥪") *"It is impossible for a contradictory thing to be true.* A non-contradictory thing could be true or could be false depending on context but at least has the *possibility* of being true." -me, I said that ❌️Contradictory Theology, Mathematics and Physics❌️ (Knowing Good; Functions; limit built into every operation): 1. The Genesis 1 character and the Genesis 2 character are the exact same character. 2. Zero is not fundamental and nonzero numbers are fundamental (Newton calculus). 3. 0D is not locally real and 1D, 2D, 3D, 4D are locally real (Newton physics). ✅️Non-contradictory Theology, Mathematics and Physics✅️ (Knowing Good from Evil; Relations defined by constraints; limit is a separate operation): 1. The Genesis 1 character and the Genesis 2 character are polar opposite characters. 2. Zero is fundamental and nonzero numbers are not fundamental (Leibniz calculus). 3. 0D is locally real and 1D, 2D, 3D, 4D are not locally real (Leibniz physics). Interpreting the Bible with the Genesis 1 character and the Genesis 2 character as the exact same character generates near 70,000 contradictions (see reason project) and requires heavy apologetics. A Bible interpretation which includes near 70,000 contradictions (impossible to be true) is what a snake-oil salesman would sell you. 🐍 The standard model of physics is 3+1 space-time, which are considered locally real, where 0 is considered not locally real. Been that way since Newton. Problem is...quantum physics proved the observable universe (1D, 2D, 3D and 4D) is actually not locally real...and that was over a year ago! 🦧 locally real = more real (Leibniz said "necessary") not locally real = less real (Leibniz said "contingent") TL;DR if you aren't sure if the meaning of 0 (zero) and 1 (nonzero) changing is epic just remember that Rick Sanchez ,🥒, collapsed a Galactic Federation by changing a 1 into a 0. in·fin·i·ty MATHEMATICS a number greater than any assignable quantity or countable number (symbol ∞). What is the meaning of zero in Webster's dictionary? a. : the arithmetical symbol 0 or 0̸ denoting the absence of all magnitude or quantity. b. : additive identity. specifically : the number between the set of all negative numbers and the set of all positive numbers. Zero is the most important number in mathematics and is both a real and an imaginary number with a horizon through it. Zero-dimensional space is the greatest dimension in physics and is both a real and an imaginary dimension with an event horizon through it. Read Leibniz's Monadology 📖 and consider that the Monad is the zero-dimensional space binding our quarks together with the strong force (it is). The other side of the Monad is Monos (Alone) and this side is Monas (Singularity) and there's an event horizon between them. So El/Elohim or Theos/Logos etc pick your language. Isn't God supposed to be outside of space (1D, 2D, 3D) and time (4D)? Well, 0D is outside of space and time: 0D (not-natural) = dimensionless and timeless 1D-3D (natural) = spatial dimensions 4D (natural) = temporal dimension
@ready1fire1aim1
@ready1fire1aim1 7 месяцев назад
[RATE MY THEORY / 1-10 Good to Bad]: (part 2; fart clouds of probability "💨 + 😶‍🌫️") Quarks are dimensionless (no size) and timeless (not-natural). The two main quark spin configs two-down, one-up (subatomic to neutron) and two-up, one-down (subatomic to proton) could easily be construed as the male (neutron) and female (proton) image that Elohim made us in during Genesis 1. Quarks experience all 3 fundamental forces plus have a fractional electric charge that's why protons and neutrons have electrons orbiting around. A) The postulated soul has 1. no spatial extension, 2. zero size and 3. exact location only. B) Quarks are mass with no size measured in Megaelectron Volts. Conclusion: A and B are the same thing, you goofy goobers. Important point 👉 (dont forget): 0D (zero) is different from 1D-10D (nonzero) because 0D is a not-natural dimension whereas 1D-10D are natural dimensions. 0D monad (Creator event horizon) 1D, 2D, 3D are spatial (space) dimensions 1D line 2D width 3D height 4D, 5D, 6D are temporal (time) dimensions 4D length 5D breadth 6D depth 7D, 8D, 9D are spectral (energy) dimensions 7D continuous 8D emission 9D absorption 10D black hole (Destroyer event horizon) It is impossible for 1D-9D to have an event horizon since only 0D has an event horizon. 10D at least contains a placeholder 0 for its event horizon. The other side of the event horizon at the zero-of yourself (near horizon) is God. The other side of the event horizon of a black hole (far horizon) is not God. It's a mirror universe with 0D at the center. This side (Elohim; singularity) is contingent and less real (the natural dimensions anyway) and the other side (El; alone) is necessary and more real (pretty sure the entirety of the other side remains locally real and simply "knowing Good" but yeah sue me if im wrong 💵). The zero-of ourselves (more real 👻) was made by the Holy Trinity in Genesis 1 which should not be confused with the Unholy Trinity in Genesis 2 who constantly messes with the 1D, 2D, 3D parts of us (less real 🤷‍♂️). The Holy Trinity is our greatest conceivable hue-monad (soul). Dimensionless and timeless. Three that are not each other but cannot be divided further. Singularity. Could literally be standing right beside you...BOO! just kidding of course thatd be crazy...or is it entirely possible and they're totally right there just watching you 👀 not understand MY THEORY!!!

[Monad in philosophy/cosmogony]: Monad (from Greek μονάς monas, "singularity" in turn from μόνος monos, "alone") refers, in cosmogony, to the Supreme Being, divinity or the sum "I am" of all things. The concept was reportedly conceived by the Pythagoreans and may refer variously to a single source acting alone, or to an indivisible origin, or to both. The concept was later adopted by other philosophers, such as Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz, who referred to the Monad as an *elementary particle.* It had a *geometric counterpart,* which was debated and discussed contemporaneously by the same groups of people. [In this speculative scenario, let's consider Leibniz's *Monad,* from the philosophical work "The Monadology", as an abstract representation of *the zero-dimensional space that binds quarks together* using the strong nuclear force]: 1) Indivisibility and Unity: Monads, as indivisible entities, mirror the nature of quarks, which are deemed elementary and indivisible particles in our theoretical context. Just as monads possess unity and indivisibility, quarks are unified in their interactions through the strong force. 2) Interconnectedness: Leibniz's monads are interconnected, each reflecting the entire universe from its own perspective. In a parallel manner, the interconnectedness of quarks through the strong force could be metaphorically represented by the interplay of monads, forming a web that holds particles together. 3) Inherent Properties: Just as monads possess inherent perceptions and appetitions, quarks could be thought of as having intrinsic properties like color charge, reflecting the inherent qualities of monads and influencing their interactions. 4) Harmony: The concept of monads contributing to universal harmony resonates with the idea that the strong nuclear force maintains harmony within atomic nuclei by counteracting the electromagnetic repulsion between protons, allowing for the stability of matter. 5) Pre-established Harmony: Monads' pre-established harmony aligns with the idea that the strong force was pre-designed to ensure stable interactions among quarks, orchestrating their behavior in a way that parallels the harmony envisaged by Leibniz. 6) Non-Mechanical Interaction: Monads interact non-mechanically, mirroring the non-mechanical interactions of quarks through gluon exchange. This connection might be seen as a metaphorical reflection of the intricacies of quark-gluon dynamics. 7) Holism: The holistic perspective of monads could symbolize how quarks, like the monads' interconnections, contribute holistically to the structure and behavior of particles through the strong force interactions. [Monad in mathematics, science and technology]: Monad (biology), a historical term for a simple unicellular organism Monad (category theory), a construction in category theory Monad (functional programming), functional programming constructs that capture various notions of computation Monad (homological algebra), a 3-term complex Monad (nonstandard analysis), the set of points infinitesimally close to a given point

Jesus Richard Dawkins is awkward, he's allowed questions for the children but I doubt adults will get that opportunity (even uni students) and he's so enthusiastic about evolution. At least he was respectable enough to not show his militaristic atheism "the God delusion". Remember the only time WLC and Dawkins encountered he presented himself as a very hostile guy "I highly doubt that"(referring to Craig's remark that they hope they don't have a good conversation? Why is he lecturing children and broadcasting it? To show how smart he is? This guy is shady Edit: You can just see that he's really high in dopamine. It's like me on my ADHD meds, I'm able to focus and get into anything and am doing CS + philosophy and have been looking at Dawkins a lot and he's a pretty pompous do-it-by-the-book guy....no experimenting with substances he's fought hard to earn his position and I kindof respect him but at the same time find him very narrow minded and just a tool tbh

It makes me very sad, and worried, actually, that these young people can even weigh science vs religious beliefs as though they're equally valid, when it should be obvious that they're comparing actual knowledge about the world with ancient stories told by superstitious, ignorant men. Some of them seem actually frightened by the idea that their indoctrinated religious beliefs might not be true. It almost seems like a mental illness, an obsession. If course, they're not entirely to blame, since parents and teachers drill the nonsense into their heads, as fact, rather than legend, mythology, parable, etc., but some of us indoctrinated in that way were easily able to abandon "God" as easily as we abandoned Santa Claus, and for the same reasons. I wonder why it's so hard for some to simply question their beliefs and change them accordingly.

Young boy asked why a human would have to evolve into a different kind of species (he said the theory of evolution suggests no forms last forever).. A way to say it can perhaps last forever is referring to the crocodile which has been around whilst many other species formed upon/from eachother…. Perhaps humans will remain the same for a very long time but it seems in the ultimate grand scope of things, genetic drift would likely get the better of the lineage and turn it into something unreachable by todays standard (reproductively(viably)). 🎉

I think it would have helped if the concept of 'belief' was defined at the outset. The dictionary definition is 'a strongly held view usually without any evidence' There you have the difference between 'theory' and 'fact'. You cannot prove the existence of God. A belief in God is a theory, not a fact. God is the lazy man's explanation for everything he doesn't understand.

When the question comes up, whether or not scientist, believe in God, whether or not God is compatible with science, the most important thing is what is the definition of God? if one uses the word God to mean the mystery of the universe itself that is quite different from the belief that God is a magic sky daddy who is concerned with your behavior in actively involves himself with your life

You were brainwashed as a child reading too many Tommy the T rex books, how much real investigation have you done into evolution since then? Do it and then see what you find, because while you can obviously see that life does slowly change over time, that's the same species evolving, ie a human simply becoming a slightly different human, not a totally different creature. As for lies... Dawkins talks about Denisovans looking so much like us, but did you know the only Denisovans remains they have is a single tooth and finger bone!
