Dawless Digitakt vs M8tracker jam

I created a mixtape with a selection of my personal favourites of 2021 and a few others.
Tracks all written on Digitakt or M8tracker, except for the last tune that is partly written in Little Sound DJ.
Digitakt is hooked up to a SammichSID through an Axoloti synth that acts as a multi FX for the Sammich, providing reverb, filters, synth layers and side-chain compression to the SID.
All recorded as a one-take with minimal post-production in Ableton Live.

it took me way too long to realize the mixer was below the upper deck and thought you had like sawed your mixer down for space or something. great set!

When breaks died around 2010 from booty breaks over-saturating the scene I never thought it would come back, but it's great to hear the progressive deeper stuff again! Even better that it was produced and performed on hardware by someone with real talent!

@@DJDiskmachine You inspired me to make a breaks tune on my synth setup, man I missed breaks! I'm going to start organising cameras, lenses and lighting now, hopefully in about a month I can post it to youtube.

@@DJDiskmachine Thanks for the advice but I already ordered a used Sony a6000 and a Samyang 12mm wide angle lens. I'll use my phone for another angle. How did you get your overhead shot? Do you mount it to anything special?

@@andrew1550 oh wow that's fancy! :D yeah I use the cheapest selfie stick I could find on the local hardware store then I attached it to the table using a clamp. I'm cheap AF 😉

How is the DT and the M8 combination? Still looking for an excuse to buy the M8, but chose the DT. Have to convince myself the M8 will be an addition to my DT instead of a replacement.

@Bart It's really great! They're very different machines musically, Digitakt is fab for improvisation around shorter loops. M8 I can write almost anything on. They make excellent partners for live settings. :)

@@DJDiskmachine thats bad news. Was hoping to hear it was the worst combination in history. But what about syncing? Does it only clock sync or can you also sequence the M8 with the Digitakt? Because the M8 doesn’t look like you can really live jam and freestyle with melody

@@Deadstarable Haha yeah for the wallet it's really bad news ;D Well it depends, I've seen some people do some crazy stuff live with M8 but I'm pretty content just writing complete tunes on it. I don't sync at all, I just set the tracks to the same BPM and start them in time oldskool like with two pre-sync CDJs :)
