I am a house cleaner my significant other and I run a business we've learned a few things over time... So on stainless steel glass shower doors for hard water you use a 0000 steel wool it's a very fine steel wool and does not scratch glass or stainless steel and removes hard water with ease... If you do get the steel wool wet overnite it does harden with a gritty rust like color I wouldn't recommend using the same piece again. As it may scratch the surface... Just lightly rip a small piece and I use my index and middle finger for equal distribution of force while scrubbing, scrub lightly and its gonna leave some black or charcoal like color of dust while using but after you rinse and wipe up your stainless and glass, they will literally look brand new...Some surfaces don't take well to steel wool but how fine the 0000 product is, works on a lot of various surfaces... Test on small sections for appropriate surfaces... Thanks for your videos picked up a few tricks from you that I will put to the test in the very near future

I thought water softener is supposed to eliminate and prevent water spots. I've been thinking about having one installed in my house because of a skin condition. But I've also been weighing no more water spots very heavily in favor of the cost of installation. Is it just not true?

A little DIY tip - pour the Dawn in the measuring cup first & then the vinegar. Gently stir & that way you don't leave any Dawn left in the measuring cup.

Most empty sprayer bottles you buy for mixing/diluting cleaners have measurement lines on the side. Just add your ingredients directly to the bottle and skip the measuring cup altogether.

Pro tip - once you get it clean, keep a magic eraser in the shower and give it a quick scrub while you’re conditioning your hair, give it a spritz of disinfectant once a week. I NEVER have to clean my shower besides that.

Magic Erasers work magic on microwaves. It only takes a minute to clean even the worst of the worst. After that, it takes only a few seconds for each cleaning. And, yes, many times folks try to convince me to use something like Angry Mama, or other things. But to me that is just another thing I have to clean and it takes a lot longer. No extra cleaning with a Magic Eraser 😀 and through in a few seconds.
@ohboy2592

I’d be careful using magic eraser on anything acrylic or plastic in tubs and showers. It’s an abrasive material and can scratch softer surfaces. Glass and hardened enamel surface will be fine

Not sure if anyone has suggested this but it works amazing!! Use cleaning vinegar instead because it's a lot more concentrated and goes a long way. Also, heat up the vinegar in the microwave and mix the dawn while it's in a glass measuring cup. Let it sit for an entire hour and everything comes clean off, including those hard water stains. Sometimes heat and time is key!

I find cleaning vinegar very strong… it’s hard to be in the bathroom when spraying. It makes it difficult to breathe. If you use Regular vinegar, water and 10 drops of tea tree essential oil, and make it a daily shower spray, you won’t have to scrub your shower every week. Of course, you have to start when your shower is already clean.

My uncle is a plumber and he likes to use this cleaner because the dawn and vinegar help to push all the gunk through the pipes too that build up. The Dawn helps to break up grease and gross in the pipes and the acid in the vinegar helps to eat up yuckies like hair build up. Much like doing the vinegar and baking soda. My uncle says using it is a twofer you not only get safe cleaning for your tub and sinks but you are also helping to clean your pipes too.

For drains, hold the dawn. 2 cup vinegar, half cup baking soda and another one of salt. Put salt and baking soda in drain. Add vinegar. Rinse with boiling hot water. It will clean the drains. Adding dawn to clean the drains is adding soap scum that the method without dawn cleans out really well!

Idk if anyone mentioned this but for tough stuff sometimes I'll microwave the vinegar so it's hot and then stir in some Dawn, add to a spray bottle (plastic or repurpose a used glass vinegar bottle w/ a spray nozzle on top). Spray, let sit 15-20 min and the grime legit wipes off. For stains I mix hydrogen peroxide w Dawn & spray til saturated (or just put a couple drops Dawn on & squirt some H2O2 on top then rub together). Then sprinkle some baking soda (I put some in a $1 sugar shaker). Let dry and scrub w a toothbrush or throw directly in the wash. I was shocked at how well this works on clothes...haven't even used my Shout since. 1 more--I have a rental and the grout sealant has long worn off. I've even scrubbed some grout away scrubbing so hard w bleach. Not anymore! Sprinkle baking soda on the grout lines (I use a spoon), spray w/ hydrogen peroxide & let sit til dry. Spray again w/ hydrogen peroxide and all u need is a toothbrush and light scrubbing just to dislodge the baking soda. Wipe & it's WHITE. Used on gross tile floor grout and dingy white counter tops that look like new--no chems or harsh tools.

You can also use lysol toilet bowl cleaner to clean the grout. I also have tiles in my rental and they were gross. I just use the lysol nozzle to apply the liquid on grout lines. It oxidizes in about 5-10 minutes. Once you see it has changed color from dark blue to a very light shade of blue just wipe it off with cloth or paper towel. Wipe again with a clean damp cloth and you will have bright and clean tiles and grout lines

The key to getting the water marks out is to use baking soda! It adds abrasiveness as well as reacts with the vinegar and makes a huge difference. I have really bad hard water in my house and it won't come out with this solution unless i add baking soda. Spray the solution, dampen a scratch free sponge, and add the baking soda to the scrub part of the sponge (or if its easier sprinkle directly on the surface you're trying to clean) scrub and rinse (don't just wipe) it will make a big difference!

I've made this a couple of months ago, and was running low, so made a double batch of it since I use it for everything. Last week, I was doing some monthly window cleaning in my living room, and instead of dusting, washing the sills of the window, and then using glass cleaner for the windows afterwards, I thought, hey, I'm going to try the vinegar Dawn, as I call it, and I used it to clean both windows and sills and didn't think a whole lot about it afterwards. A few days later, I was walking past the windows and the sun was shining through them, and I actually had to stop and look more hard at my windows. Although they were still dirty on the outside, I noticed that they were visibly cleaner and the sun looked prettier somehow shining in, the glass was almost sparkling. I told my sister about it, since she moved to Florida, she's got glass sliding doors and lots of windows, so I told her my experience and she said she's going to try it out. But, anyway, I've decided that even with all the wiping to make sure the suds were gone, I'm going to clean my windows with this stuff instead of Windex or generic glass cleaners. I swear, my living room windows have never looked cleaner and shinier. Now, its on to the other windows in the house and the front glass door. This stuff is absolutely amazing. I also used it to clean my little bathroom old, ugly lineolium. Usually, I just use Lysol and some paper towels to clean the floor since its so small, but, I decided since I had it in the bathroom to clean my sink, faucet and tub with it, I'd try it on the floor. Got all the embedded in dirt that Lysol or Pinesol, or whatever cleaner I have mixed in my bathroom spray bottle doesn't get out. I am truly impressed. My daughter hates the smell of the stuff, but, I put it in a used generic Febreeze bottle and the fragrance left over from it seems to help with the vinegar smell, so there's a suggestion to some of you.

Love dawn and vinegar for washing the floors.. it washes and suds but the vinegar breaks up the soap and basically eats it ... using vinegar to rinse and sanitize dishes and dry camping and you need to get your body clean. I mix it with water set aside and wet a rag with nice smelling soap ,then squeeze the vinegar water all over your body . You don't smell like it afterwards. The smell neutralizes. You can also put it on your hair mixed with water and it gets off all the residue from your shampoo leaving your hair shiny.. also leaving your skin soft too.

For years I had tried all those harsh calcium/lime removal cleaners with very little success. I did 2 tbsp dawn to 2 cups vinegar in a spray bottle. Had to scrub a little, but not nearly as much as I expected. I hate the smell of the commercial cleaners, which are way too strong. Vinegar and Dawn are a winning combo.

There’s nothing wrong with bar soap. Bar soap just leaves more behind than body wash, so it’s harder to clean. I can’t think of the word lol I think 🤔 it’s called soap scum idk, but I hope that makes sense.

The key is to eliminate the water spots after you shower with a clean rag left nearby to dry. It takes all of about 1 minute as you dry off. Mine is 12-15 years old and looks new as the day I installed it. The fiberglass enclosure cleans up with triple cut compounding paste, just as you would use on a fiberglass boat. It also works great on the shower track and repels water nicely...

@@marthagrovenstein6063 my mother in law does that. She dries out the sinks and showers. Her house is immaculate but it is aggravating to be a guest from out of state and want to relax while having someone wiping everything every where you go. Her house smells of heavily scented botanical gardens, looks like something straight out of Southern Living and don't you dare move a pillow off of her sofa. I don't eat at her dining table anymore because she has vintage high end linens. I just go to the sunroof and eat alone. Everything is untouched. She sweeps 3 times a day and mops everday.. she is 75. Everything in that house is beautiful but it is what some say "to look at not to touch". Some being her and her family. That's what my son was always told when we would visit. I had the idea that when we became empty nesters we would have Everything in place and look untouched... ha...I was wrong. I have 2 grandchildren and my house looks like a tornado when they leave where we have lived in and played. I just clean it up for the next day. My oldest loves to craft, so glitter, glue, scissors is all allowed at my house. Today she wanted to put together a 1000 piece puzzle. I always eyeball the measurements now (I've been making this for years, once I realized it didn't wreak havoc on my eyes, nose and throat like some brands do). I usually do 1 part Dawn 1.5 pts vinegar. I spray the shower/tub down, then go make my bed and do upstairs tidying while I wait for at least 20 mins, then with a blue Scotch sponge (one with sponge side and acrylic scrub side so as not to scratch) give it a light scrub. Then I rinse it all off. The plus side is that even if it does smell like vinegar while you are cleaning, that smell dissipates not long after you rinse it. I became hooked on this concoction from the get go. Like most, always used some Bubbles product but I would feel sick for days after and this didn't do that to me. More than that, our shower floor is textured and no amount of scrubbing and cleaner would ever get it, but letting this sit and using just the sponge did.

You need to leave it on longer for heavier hard water stains. You can actually leave it on for hours and over night. One lady microwaves the dawn and vinegar for 1 minute to get it to adhere better that way it sticks to what you spray it on and the vinegar doesn’t just run off. I use this all the time, I spray it on rub it in and go clean other things and I do the shower last.

Add orange peels from 1 large orange to a pint jar of vinegar and let it sit for a week. Strain this and throw away the peels. Use the pint of "Orange" vinegar in your recipe in a spray bottle. It works much better. The orange oil in the vinegar helps cut the grease and build up and leaves the metal, ceramic or shower doors streak free and squeaky clean. It also leaves a nice shine. It is also great for windows and mirrors. Use cloth instead of paper towels to clean with.

Andrea Jean, try spray & wash on everything in your bath/shower stalls. If the deposits on the glass are really bad, you can use very fine steel wool on the glass, but NOT chrome or aluminum or any other metal; it's even okay on tile. Once you have all the spots off, let it dry. Then spray a fine mist on your glass and walls and let it dry. Then take your showers. About every 3rd or 4th shower you'll need to spray the glass & walls again (after they have dried from your last shower). I promise this works! : )

This is a great recipe and I've used it for quite a while. However I think it's important to know that if you use this on natural stones or granite it will pit it so just be aware of that. I used it on a friend's shower and her shower frame she had a granite ledge but it was old and she was gonna replace it anyway it definitely pitted it doesn't really show it was older. Replace the vinegar with vodka if you are using it on natural stones

I have been using this same Dawn/Vinegar solution for about a year now and love it. However, like you, it did not remove the very, very old water spots that seem to have literally become engrained into my shower glass walls. But if you want to remove as much of the old water stains with this solution, it needs to soak overnight. How? Soak a a couple of paper towels in the Dawn/Vinegar solution and then wrap it up with Saran Wrap, or use some tape and tape it (can only do sections at a time if doing a wall). The Saran Wrap keeps the solution from drying and allows the vinegar to dissolve the lime. I clean my shower every time I take a shower and it is so easy now days.... I just literally spray on and rinse off as I'm showering.

It used to be vinegar & WISK laundry detergent instead of Dawn, years ago, I learned that from my Mom & Grandma. I used WISK exclusively to do my laundry & anything that needed a heavy duty cleaner; like in the garage. I do that monthly at my house to this day with Dawn since PERSIL discontinued WISK in 2015; BIG mistake! Every mech garage had a bottle of WISK in the shop bathroom; and so did mine to wash your hands with every day. It was perfect for work uniforms too. Now I add a 1/4 cup of Dawn to the washer and let uniforms soak for 30 min, then drain and wash normally.
