I'm not a very clean person and this stuff has changed my life. I neglect things like my stove top and hate doing dishes. I just sprayed it on my stove top that I had neglected for months and caked on eggs and grease just came right off with a paper towel. My air fryer basket that I haven't cleaned for about a year is like new after a couple of sprays and scrubs with a brush. This stuff actually makes me excited to clean. I understand that I'm a disgusting person and shouldn't have neglected cleaning in the first place but I live alone and don't date so it's whatever. I do like not living in filth though so I'm happy that this works.
That's great to hear! I personally hate cleaning the stove, and once a week seems like a chore. Right now, my stove is filthy and I am inspired by your comment to use it on my stove too! Glad that it's helping you stay tidy. Every little bit counts.
Just because you haven't deep cleaned doesn't make you disgusting, I grew up in a hoarder environment and always said I would never let that happen to me... Now my sister isn't a clean freak hut her house is clean and cozy etc etc mine is a nightmare of biblical proportion but cleaning and my anxiety go hand in hand. Logic says start on one side of the room and clean all the way around which I use to be able to do, until I Started experiencing anxiety now I walk into a room and the mess overwhelms me so bad my brain goes into panic mode and shuts down and I can't do it so it just ends up piling up 😔.. I do see where you are coming from and happy for you that this is exciting for you and hope it still is because I know I am getting there 🤘
@@beansmama8914 I was that way and still struggle! Cleaning, tidying, and organizing are not the same thing.. it’s totally fine to work on one at a time and gain the skills as you go to find what works for *you*. I only got this far by hiring help for 2 years twice a month. They literally slowly built up my mental health so I could focus on our health and stuff-management. I discovered gluten was setting off a lot of my health issues and by then I’d been working on our stuff slowly like a river eroding its banks, so I’ve gained a lot of traction! It’s a process.. and it’s not all progress, but eventually the efforts of trying does pay off. I wish everyone could hire help like that to support (it came at the cost of saving money towards a home though).. basically it’s just really hard to do and be it all. I hope you find what helps and don’t give up! Taking care of you will better enable you to tackle hard things. It’s possible and it’s not something to be ashamed of. I’ve carried far too much shame surrounding my ‘failings’ which added to my struggling to make them better. Best wishes on your journey to progress!
@@beansmama8914 this is me. Not sure if it will help you, but it helped me. Don't think you're going to tackle an area all at once. The moment you walk into the messy rooms and have that mindset, it automatically becomes overwhelming and triggers the flight response. Instead, set a timer on your phone for 15min. Allow yourself those 15min to pick up or put away whatever you can, take garbage out etc. Do this everyday, and if you're having a good day, maybe up it to 20, then 30. Put on a Playlist of your favourite music to help your mind focus on the songs, not the overwhelming mess! Even if it feels like you've done nothing, it will make a difference over time!
I actually used it on my exhaust filter the day I purchased this product and I sprayed and rinsed twice and it was like new. I sent pics to friends because I was so surprised how well it worked. I didn’t even have to scrub.
Thanks for a great review! I was thinking this could come in handy when camping or during times when someone may not have running water due to power outages. More specifically, people whose well water supply relies on electric pumps and they're having to use bottled water because the power is off. Thanks again for taking the time to do this review! 🙂
Just did the above the stove filter! What I did is slack for 30 min with this spray, then don’t wipe, just turn your water to max hot, and use the spray setting to push all the gunk out.. worked like a charm!!
This is an EXCELLENT video reviewing Dawn Powerwash. I found it honest, detailed, and informative. Thank you. I'm going to check some of your other videos.
Found your video because I just bought this stuff today and was letting the video play as I was spraying my dishes and I literally Said " it smells fishy' just before you brought it up 🤣
Good to know how the Dawn spray works .. have wanted to chk it out 👍🏼 Also, regarding your cookie pan stain, I’m pretty confident the Mr Clean magic eraser will take that off .. it removes deep cooked in stains & burned cooked circles off of your glass top stoves ... 🤔.. Try it 👍🏼
The problem with Mr Clean Magic Eraser is that it scratches terribly. I used it on my sink faucets and around the counter top. I was so happy with it until I started looking closer. Ugh,...it scratched REALLY bad. If you want to try it, please test it on something you don't care about first.
I’m going back to the foamer. I will use this spray now that I bought it but I find I have to really get a grip on it for it to spray properly. I dropped one of these bottles and cracked the sprayer so I am going to try the soap in the regular foamer, possibly with some adjustments. I did buy the Dawn free and clear spray and it has a nice pear scent. However, I haven’t sprayed it on any gunked up greasy pans to see if that fishy odor presents itself. Thanks for sharing.
For your baking pan, line with silicone baking sheets!! Makes cleaning up soooo much easier. For stains, have you tried bar keepers friend? Not the powder. Perhaps the foam or liquid. I think you can use on nonstick but check before using. I know it works great on stainless steel on other pans (even the ugly brown stains on the outside of pans). Not sure about nonstick Just bought the dawn power wash and I’m excited to use. Thanks for reviewing!!
I have a countertop dishwasher that I used everyday. Mainly because I have a single sink and it's a pain to fill the sink then have to empty it then rinse all the dishes. This is a game changer for me. Now it's so easy to wash the dishes and rinse them without filling and emptying the sink constantly. I now use my dishwasher maybe 3 times a week instead of everyday. I love this stuff.
I found something called Krud Kutter and I really liked it. I tried Greased Lightning in the past and it didn’t impress me much. But pure baking soda and boiling water has saved a couple pots that I burned. I just poured a bunch on the pot with a tiny bit of boiling water and let it sit and it wiped off like oven cleaner. Sometimes I have put more water in and boiled on stove top, then let sit. Safer than lye(oven cleaner) but the same action.
Regarding the smell, it smells like a lighter scent of oven cleaner combined with some kind of floral scent to me. I love this product. And just yesterday, I used it on my meshed, patio sling chairs to remove some dirt and algae. Worked like a charm.
Bought a starter kit at Costco today, try it on different things... not worth it. Does about the same job of regular dish soap and water. After scrubbing and rinsing I felt like the plate and cookingware are not clean so I need to wash it ... so all the process is done nothing but wasting paper towels. If you watch carefully the label, it says that you need to scrape all the food off before using it. Nothing's better than hot water and dishwashing soap to remove the stuck food ...
On the baking dish with the cauliflower. The dawn just seems more convenient because its foamy. Thats a win for me honestly. If i can give a dish a spray and leave it for a bit and just wipe it clean then ill buy it.
I got this today when my fiancé went shopping. I did dishes, I took this stuff and sprayed it on a stubborn dog accident stain on my carpet and it took it off, this dish detergent cleaned a stain off of my carpet! Amazing!
I’ve been super skeptical and I bought one that was green apple scented I’ve used it a couple of times and it literally changed my life. I don’t have to fill up a whole sink full of water and sides and waste water any More
Btw, my friend also said it had a bad odor. I read a review that stated it didn't work but smelled like a field of fresh flowers. LOL! I think a bad smell would deter me from using it. If you want the crud gone from your vent filter, hit it with some Easy Off Oven Cleaner. I cleaned an oven and vent filter with it. It was amazing!
The fresh scent (blue) one smells really good. The clear one that supposedly smells like apple or pear or whatever smells like chemical evil. Using that one to clean my deck to get rid of it. I love the blue one.
@@mschenandlerbong8539 I just received the blue as a gift and can’t get past the chemical smell!!! I haven’t had this strong a reaction to any other dish soap (even though I don’t like apple scented stuff that’s not apples)!! I’m looking around to see if anyone else says this..
For the exhaust filter, use the Fume Free Easy Off cleaner. Leave it on for 30-60 minutes and use boiling hot water to clean. If all the grease doesn't come off, then follow up with the Powerwash and leave on for another 20 minutes and rinse with hot water, and that should get it clean. I didn't experience any noxious, caustic fumes or any skin irritation. But you can open up the windows and use gloves if you feel the need to.
Another method for cleaning exhaust filters, boil it in fish soap if you have a large enough pot. Let water cool down before pouring into the drain, boiling water can damage the pvc drain pipes. You'll need to clean the pot after though.
For the stove filter boil some water then take it off the heat put some dish soap in and stir use enough till it foams at least around the edge. Submerge the filter in water for 30 -45 min. Remove from water and rinse. Might not take that long for you but I only clean mine about every other month and cook with a decent amount of oil
It doesn't work as well as the original Dawn Power Dissolver, which now only seems to be marketed to institutional/industrial users (we were very disappointed when it was no longer available at the grocery store). But, in general, the Power Wash still works really well.
I just use dthis on an old aluminum Mirro Muffin pan that had some grease spots on it I couldn't get out any other way. I'm very impressed with this product. I'm tempted to try it on my pizza screen but that one piece of cookware you're actually supposed to remain seasoned.
I know it says just wipe, but I don't - I use a Scrub Daddy and hot water. I noticed a difference between using Powerwash versus soap and water. Don't use Barkeeper's on your nonstick baking sheet, it's too abrasive and will ruin the coating.
Thanks for the tip! Yes, i think the whole "just wipe it off" aspect is a bit of a sales gimmick, but otherwise I did notice the difference between powerwash and regular soap and thought this was a great product!
@@thegplate for non stick i've found with this stuff don't use the scrubbing side of the sponge, but instead the soft sponge side. It works really well and leaves less scratches on things.
I saw a comment that said put the exhaust filter in the dishwasher. Don't do that ! Mine got ruined like that and I had to buy a new one since it was all discolored and I live in a rental. I highly recommend trying extremely hot water and letting it soak with some oxiclean in the sink for however long you'd like. That left mine brand spanking new. You can also do this with your oven racks in the tub :)
Bar Keepers Friend (powder) mixed with a little water to make a paste and let it sit on your Wilton baking sheet for about 15mins. Will get the burnt marks right out!
For the stains. Although I've never tried it. I've see it advertised on Utube. Put salt on the pan. Then baking soda. Layer a few sheets of paper towel on panto cover mixture. Then spray with vinegar. Let sit for about 10 min. And wipe. Let me know if this works.
I used this to clean the cat’s litter box and it worked so good. I have a cat that like to dig all the way to the floor of the box and pee which makes the litter stick to the box. I just sprayed it and let it sit for 10 min then poured hot water in the litter box and the stuck litter came right off.
@susannatamez7996 Yes! Boiling water really loosens up things like that and dishsoap then clears the rest. Would have done a better job on all 3 tests he did.
use barkeepers friend on your nonstick baking pan to remove stains. I use it on non stick cookware and stainless steel. works great and doesn't scratch or harm the finish.
I used engine degreaser that I get from the auto parts store of big box store. It is really cheap, and it does a great job. Also, for the vent filter, I would go old school and soak it in a bucket of diluted ammonia cleaner that you can get for pennies on the dollar.
How much effort does it really take to wash dishes? I've never had a dishwasher. Thank you for your review as I was curious as to what this was all about. I'll keep using regular dish liquid.
My mom stained her white shirt with something red, I sprayed this stuff on it, left it for 5 minutes and just dabbed with a damp cloth. It was amazing too see the stain dissappear!
Try Nylac for a non toxic stain remover/non scented, non sudsy carpet cleaner. Tiny company apparently, only available at carpet stores. Best kept secret -- even saved our white carpet from a black ball point pen cartridge the puppy chewed... saved me $8K for carpet replacement as ball point pen ink is a death sentence in the world of stains. Worked on ball point pen on car seat too.
This stuff always removes the stains & dirt on my shirt collars that regular tide doesn't. 409 gets my neck clean too, it cuts thru the dirt and body oils
I brush it in to my filter and add a little water on a cookie sheet and it gets everything clean easy peasie. The trick with the filter is to get it in to the layers and not just sitting on top.
I am cleaning the baked on grease on inside of my Weber, worked 10x faster than steam cleaner & it cut thru to the base. So happy, now on to the food grate which everyone knows is a disaster. It actually has cut thru to the stainless 100×better than the easy off grill cleaner.. yes it takes a bit of elbow grease only cuz I have 1 hand jacked up. But the grease that gets the baked on sheen that never comes off.. Dawn power wash all the way!
You can stick those filters in the dishwasher. It does a really good job of cleaning them. No need to throw them away. let them soak in some soapy Waterford a bit, rinse and then put in the dishwasher. It should come out good as new
Im sold. Bought a starter from amazon. I dont do my dishes as often as i probably should, and i have a small kitchen and some very large dishes, so it becomes overwhelming VERY quickly. So i intend on doing ALL the fishes in a single go with this.
The ventihood filter if u let it set for 5-20 mins depending on how bad it is....u don't have to wipe or scrub on it just rinse it....& due to how it's made with the layers u may have to do it a few times....& it tells u not to run the filter thru the dishwasher depending on the brand of ventihood &/or dishwasher....always read the manual especially if u have a warranty on them cuz something as small as putting something thru a dishwasher when it says not to in the manual can't void out ur owners warrenty due to in proper use/cleaning...different variables can cause different outcomes.....I use dawn power wash & have O.C.D pretty bad so I believe their is a rite way to clean & even u shud clean stuff in a certain order or it's not clean....at the end of the day it's a person's personal preference & opinion....this is my opinion & my personal preference is much higher than more....so to really know what a product can do for whatever it is it after or looking to accomplish is to just test it out for yourself....this is a good video as far as a fast test on everyday items but all in all I like this product....I use this on my dog kennels....it leaves them clean & most importantly it gets rid of the pet/kennel smell leaving it smelling better than it did when I bought them brand new....& it perfect for cleaning all or kitchen appliances down faster with less effort....I don't mind as much to clean them now...but 👍 on this video! 😇
Try Immerse your items to be cleaned in a container using a cleaning solution called “Awesome” that you can buy for one dollar at the dollar store. I’ve even seen car wash employees using “Awesome” on car/truck tire rims!! Great for mini blinds, patio furniture/floors, scuffs on walls (be gentile), soles of tennis shoes, clothing stains...etc. all for $1.
"Totally Awesome" is the name of it. That stuff works really good! I buy 5 bottles at a time and use it for cleaning EVERYTHING, even dump it in the washing machine for really dirty stuff!
The best use for this is right before you start dishes. I line up my gross greasy pans and spray it on to sit while i get other stuff done. Then the pans take no time to clean.
I understand you can take regular Dawn and dilute it a certain amount and put it in one of those bottles that creates foam and not have to spend the extra money; someone did a video demonstrating it, but I can’t remember what the portions were. You might want to research and see if there’s anything to that; if it does work could save a lot of $$
Bar Keepers Friend may work on your pan with the same scrubber you are using. It works like a charm on burner pans and stainless steel pans, shines them up like new. I love Greased Lightening for my exhaust filter.
I put bout tabble spoon of dawn in the bottle when the bottle is epmpy then put hot water in bottle put sprayer / lid back on lightly tip the bottle to get it mixed works great
I think I'm going to get this. I need to have all food bits rinsed off before I scrub with brush and soap. I think this will work good for bits that don't rinse off right away. Btw yes I'm OCD, I can't stand bits of food in my brush because I think about them staying there and rotting and then I'll be washing dishes with rotten food so what's the point of washing them anyway, yes OCD.....
YES! For me its the feeling of soggy washed up food bits touching my skin that makes me want to gag. This is great for reducing that! On a side note (despite my sponge being dank AF) I usually just toss my scrubbing brush into the dishwasher when I run it. Makes me at least FEEL less gross, hahaha.
Is there a video showing how to refill it? I'm having difficulty visualizing what movements I should make just from reading the written instructions. I want to see a video demonstration on how to do it.
It’s just concentrated dawn, water & alcohol mixed together. So you don’t have to buy refills. But the sprayer is nice and you can reuse it for other things.
That's a great idea. I think the purpose of the spray was to "spray and wipe" so I wanted to see if it lived up to the promise, but I think paired with a scrubbing brush would be much more effective.
If you had left that grill soaking in the Dawn powerspray for a couple of hours and rinsed with hot water....very different results. I let really nasty stuff soak in it a lot longer than a few minutes.
No No you should not have scrubbed that vent grill. You pushed all that grime into the crevices. If you would have poured boiling water all over it it would have rinsed the debris away. You may have needed to repeat the process a second time. Those grills are difficult to replace.
It totally failed to remove baked-on grease from my air-fryer basket, but it _did_ take off some of the non-stick coating *_and_* it degraded the rubber spacers (that are meant to keep the basket off of the bottom of the drawer), so badly that they tore off. Obviously, I wish I'd never heard of this stuff.
I’ve bought this 3 times now, IMO I think it’s a waste of money. I love to soak my dishes before I wash them. With this I spray the dishes and it dosent seem to loosen up the food, no matter what it is. I’ve tried it on my trash can lid and still had to scrub the lid despite it not really being too dirty. Maybe I let it sit for too long and maybe it’s made for more of an instant use. I’m just gonna go back to what I use to do before this was invented.
I did not like this new dawn ultra power wash dish spray coz it does not clean the dishes as good compared to the old dish soap . This new one seemed like it was watered down , not as concentrated . I prefer the old one coz it is more effective in removing the grease .
I bought this the other day at Costco and tried it tonight on a few dishes. The scent is 'fresh', but it immediately made me want to throw up. It smells like grease and fat to me. Weird since I wasn't even washing anything with grease on it!
😖 I have had TWO of these and both stopped spraying "foam" and now only squirt out as a "liquid". Dawn does cut grease better than other dish soaps...but I will NOT purchase the "sprayer" again.
