Every time I see this video, I get upset that it hasn't made it's way to television. This video is seriously one of the best choreographed videos I've ever seen.
They are both 2 different people and Normani deserves every recognition and acclaim that she has gotten. You shouldnt try to take from one black womans success to give to another. I love Dawn, she is a great singer and performer but she hasnt put a single out that has popped unlike Normani who has several.
@@jaquariouswillis7033 Well, let’s be clear when we throw out the point of “Dawn has never had a Single that’s popped like Normani”, that may be true but Dawn has also never had the budget, spotlight or platforms Normani has been afforded so far in her career 🎯 Those comparisons shouldn’t even exist between Dawn & most Mainstream Artists because she’s not even in the same position as any of them but the fact that people like you can say something like that and she still be compared to people like a Normani says a lot 💁🏾♂️ But trust, if Dawn was signed to a Label years ago, this would be a VERY different conversation. Don’t let platforms, distract u from true talent or impact 💯
@@deedydeed9379he comparisons are unnecessary as these two artists have both been signed to labels with big budgets. Dawn was signed by Diddy in 2 groups but when it came time for her to present her solo work she wanted to end her contract and go the independent route. So she cashed in and has funded her own art to retain creative control. It's not about being bigger than another performer or being mainstream, Dawn is about her authenticity & artistry. Whereas Normani is signed to major label that has her shelved without releasing any new music despite the outcry from her fanbase and a lot of people in the general music audience. She's not been treated properly or as a priority on her label. So she has to sit and watch RCA push everything Doja.
@@DeeJoyce I agree 100% and that’s exactly my point 🎯 I don’t like that a lot of the general public is dismissive towards Dawn’s efforts bc she’s not a “Mainstream Artist”, all people wanna talk about these days is numbers and superficial things that ultimately don’t truly define talent or artistry. I’ve seen people try Dawn like this for years and it’s just annoying, u cannot compare an Independent Artist who has never been signed to a big budget label as a Solo Act, to someone whose been afforded a Solo Label contract and has been pushed, whether mildly or heavily can be argued. Normani doesn’t have her label’s full support but she’s been promoted in ways Dawn hasn’t and that’s what some Music fans don’t get about the Industry, it’s not just “fair game” for everyone. I’m very confident that if Dawn had been signed all these years, she would have definitely been a bigger Artist w/o a doubt but I know those things don’t matter to her so much 💯
@@alison2161Where did a weird rumor like that even come from? 🥴 The Weeknd & Dawn have never been associated w/ one another 😂 If u got the "inside scoop" let us know but this sounds made up...
She was the only hungry Danity Kane singer. I don't know why she's not out there as much. She was my favorite in Danity Kane she had a different beautiful voice. She is what producers need. Different, hungry for it, and she has a nice look.
Look, I love Beyonce more than any other singer, literally ever. But yall can NOT say Dawn is copying ANYONE here. She is being Dawn Richards. Which is incredible! Original content and sound! Go Dawn and DK3.
***** It's sad when female artists can't do their thing without people trying to say one copied the other. There is actually copy/theft and then there's just trying to stay true to yourself.
@@lexnicole9599 Stepping is quite literally inspired by some ancestral African traditions, so your comment is not much of an amendment to the original post...
@@stacyr4768She was basically just talkin' her ish on this one 💁🏽♂️🤣 One of her more fun/commercial Singles but still true to her alternative sound for R&B. This song/video was like her true introduction as an Artist 🎯
Y'all gonna pay for these professionals? Lol she's independent. Paid for all of this outta pocket. I'm sure she hired who she could afford. This video is pretty awesome for someone with a small budget.
She independent artist. She doing what she doing , that kelly rowland used to do when she went to a solo artist, she already big, because her song had top beyonce song 7/11. She got her own label as well. She good
2020 and I'm blasting this as if it's 2012. Honestly, this song was so underrated. Put it up for tv today and I guarantee you it's gonna win BIG. Some of the best choreography you will ever see, pure creativity!! Much love to Dawn.
An interview on Vocalist Magazine brought me here. Since I had no idea who Dawn was, I initially thought that she was frontin' saying how unique her style was and the like, you know, typical artist talk. But when I watched this video I was proven wrong. I loved the tribal strong femme theme Richards had going in; she did her more sensual dance moves with class, something I don't see much these days. Dawn's vocals were tight too; it's like she became an instrument rather than sing loud to prove her talents.
@@Wolpher Truth, since i heard Armor On EP, i've been hooked on her music and i'm sad i didn't listen sooner. I'm also loving Goldenheart+ album trio and New Breed and will be buying as much as i can soon! ♥ Dawn forever!
Yes, i love her mentality behind her music. She's often said in interviews she's always tried to be different sonically and really infect a visual style or sensation into her music and it really shows. I'm really infatuated at this point and looking forward to even more music from her! I still think my favorite video of hers so far is Wild N Faith but i love them all :) ♥ Dawn forever!
Because Diddy made some calls. He has the connections to blow you up or blow you down. Everybody who joins bad boy usually gets 15 minutes of fame then a life changer while Diddy gets richer as theres decline or settle for less.
Because going mainstream usually requires the artist sacrifice things they don’t want to fit the industries standards. She probably didn’t want to compromise her artistry so kept it the indie route.
@@PS-Tekken That was exactly what it was 🎯 U can tell from the beginning of her Solo career, that she wanted to “shake the table”, so to speak in the Industry w/ her sound at the time that combined R&B w/ House/EDM beats but she would always say that when she had meetings w/ different labels, that they would try to convince her to make her sound more “Mainstream” or tell her that they didn’t want to “take a risk”, putting a budget behind her alternative sound. They didn’t want her to be great, they wanted her to “fall in line” 💯
DAWN RICHARD is one of the music industry greatest FUCK UPS.. my first time seeing her was this morning Nov 6, 2019, how is that even possible with all the talent that pouring off this young lady. So I go to the comments and see old comments from two and five years ago and i thought this was a new video from today. Dawn Richard is so good that I have to look at the video again while i found out the name of the album so I can order it and as I look it up I find out she has 5 albums out already. Dawn Richard, 5 albums, amazing vocal, dance, and video, and I'm just hearing about her and all her talents. WOW
Imagine if ALL WOMEN OF COLOR ON EARTH had the Self-Esteem, Self-Care and Self-Knowledge of people like Dawn Richard! We'd truly be a force to make C-Change in our world! Especially if we loved our Sisters of Color as Dawn loves her Dancers and Musicians! Let Dawn be our inspiration to SURVIVE, STRIVE & THRIVE! #BlackLivesMatter #BlackWomenMatter #BlackWomenAreMagical #BlackWomenAreBeautiful #PROUDBLACKWOMAN
This is an astonishing masterpiece! Dance that is, all at once, guttural, visceral, yet altogether evocative of this song's message! An excerpt of the lyrics best summarizes what I'm trying to convey "..Can't NOBODY touch this; CAN'T NOBODY!"
We got to get this to a million... She deserves so much more and we can't let her flop or she might disappear like so many artist. Can't have that happen
This video was on 106 & Park for multiple weeks 3 years ago. This video was for sure on tv and that what's back when Terrance and Rocsi were still hosting. Some of you guys saying this video wasn't on tv.
