@@InsanoRider777 You assume the average FFXIV player likes the trust system lol. I would of used it this expansion but I neglected it since ShB despite loving the idea.
Don't agree with people saying both themes should have been switched. I think they are at their right place. Even though this one may look more epic, the other one is more dramatic for a final boss.
Agreed. This one feels like you're jumping into the fray with something dangerous, but not a particularly important foe. The other theme has more grandeur and you can feel the weight of the importance of that fight.
Agreed. Some people said the same thing in Endwalker but the themes all in their proper places. The midboss themes are supposed to be quick and yet somewhat tense but don't have so much of dynamics. The boss themes carry much more tension, as shown with both Endwalker and Dawntrail where the intros immediately build up the tension, with a lot more dynamics going on in the pieces.
I agree with you and others here. People keep saying that for every expansion, they don't get that the final boss of the dungeon is suppose to be tense and threatening. The "hype" theme has always been the midboss because that's the one where it's more about bashing bosses and the last one is the "fate is sealed here" kind of moment.
@@silque_brigandess To be fair, you would be correct. If they wanted to, they could of swapped it but it was left as it was due to wanting to update the mid-boss theme as it was the same since before ShB. They reused the ShB Insatiable remix they did for the collab with Dissidia Final Fantasy NT, which the game fully cancelled now and it wasn't the composers of NT that made it, they slapped it over the mid-boss themes of ShB. I do agree it should of been flipped, but I guess we can't now.
They're both thematically different, i think. On Blade's Edge is dark desperation, 'can't lose this' type beat. DT's is a more classic adventure midboss theme, sounds more like it's trying to convey 'new, majestic, yet dangerous creatures'. If you take into consideration that DT is Wuk Lamat's story and not the WoL's, the desperate, yet bright, sounds fit well, too.
The time has come yet again to guess the composer/arranger. With the style of percussion and the bassline/ostinato in mind, I guess it's Takafumi Imamura. A little difficult for this one since it's not heavily guitar-based like in Endwalker, which is what Imamura usually likes to do. It could be Daiki Ishikawa but the dungeon boss theme sounds more like his style.
@@VioletMaeve I think a few of the city/area themes in Dawntrail are Soken. And because I've heard the music already, I'm pretty sure the 2nd and 3rd trials are Soken's music as well. Not entirely sure for the 2nd trial but pretty confident for the 3rd trial. And from what little we heard in the live letter, the music for the first turn of the raid is most likely Soken as well.
Wait a sec, what was I thinking? This can't be Imamura. I think this is that one track that Yoshitaka Suzuki said he arranged. I expected something "grander" (like final boss theme or at least one of the trials) but I guess he's only doing a midboss theme this time.
A certain Lv 94 solo instance with this theme playing in the background was extremely epic. Honestly all the solo instances have been some of the best solo instances in the game.
Bakool Ja Ja’s confidence and bravado devolving into panicked desperation while Wuk Lamat continues to be the GOAT with this song playing was actual peak.
@@RobdeliaYT While it was undeniably epic, it just really makes no sense she's suddenly able to bully him when she couldn't even graze him a couple days prior, let alone defeat him
@@silque_brigandess Counterpoint, she was uncertain, lacking resolve then. She wanted to hurt him, but did not have the resolve to follow through no matter the cost to herself. This time she was fucking *DONE* . Bakool had loosed one of the greatest calamities to befall Tural for his own benefit and threatened her biological father with death. She learned and grew after the last incident, and while it hadn't been long, one's own insecurities can REALLY hold you back. She probably wasn't putting everything she had into it the first time, despite saying so, because she *felt* inferior at the time.
Took me to lv98 bit I just realized there is not a designated Solo Duty theme in Dawntrail. Honestly I think thay really speaks to how amazing the quality of this and the dungeon boss theme are that I didn't notice/care about that.
@@senounatsuru6453Also Dynamis lmao. Like very clearly Lamaty'i was supercharged on Emotion Power there! ('specially considering how quick she was generating LB.. She was PISSED.)
The reason I love this song is because it fits so well with what happens in Dawntrail's story. It has a hint of despair, mixed with hope. It feels like as if the odds are against you, as if all hope is lost, but you're the one who can save everyone, you're the last hope.
I like On Blade's Edge but people just gas that up because it has guitar. This theme fits the dungeon fights so much better probably the best midboss theme to date tho i really liked Persistance too (especially since it's basically an edited version of 1.0 Phantoms on the Lake by Uematsu lol). The rock themes are less fitting. This track also sounds massive when playing it on my main music speakers.
Is it just me or THIS should be the last boss theme and the last boss theme should be mid boss theme? Cuz that's the first time I like the mid boss theme better than the final boss one. 😂
I felt the same way at first but then eventually just came to the conclusion that they are both epic and worthy!!! We get this theme twice a dungeon, that makes me happy😊
I think the last dungeon boss theme instrumentation works better for the second half end bosses more than this would. Although I do vastly prefer this as a song in general. This is easily one of my favorite, if not the favorite, dungeon boss theme out ofnall expacs.
Music is amazing, but like others, this should’ve been the final boss music and the final boss music currently should be the mid-boss music. This is glorious final battle music.
They should save this for the Tree mob you run into after the Punitiy. I survived 2 shots from 1st boss as a healer with HQ diadochos gear but the AoE from the tree mob one shot me the first time i did the trust dungeon. Trees are more dangerous than Punitiys
@@SirRafarga This has nothing to do with the story. Its the soundtrack I'm having a beef with. They could've used some latin beats followed with some bongos, the whole tech beat doesn't really groove all that well with the setting and my god does the main theme hurt my ears. "TIME!... TO RIP OFF MY GODDAMN EARS!"
It's not BAD - I'd call it great in any other MMORPG - but when it comes to the standards set by the past two expansions, it just sounds so... Generic?
It's an okay story in my opinion, some places in the story were boring, other times it picked up. It's not the best expansion released but it's a good building place for the future. Can't say much on the side content yet, haven't got around to it. There's some beautiful scenery in each zone, that's all I'll really say about it
