Hey Ruth, Thanks for your amazing videos. Can I ask you a question? I am a civil engineer. I have to plot a graph (S-curve) with months on the x-axis and % on the y-axis. Assume that the x-axis goes up to Dec 2020. (Project span is from 1-Jan-2020 to 31-Dec-2020). I have percentages available for all the months until Dec 2020. Now, I want to show the rolling total of percentages only until the report date, which is 31-May-2020. That means, my curve in the graph must not go beyond 31-May-2020. I used "calculate" with filters, but didn't quite work. I hope you will help me solve this. Thanks a lot! Keep up the good work...

Hi Ruth, Thanks for the video. The answer to Q.22 will be Parameter and 0.3 ( I think you there is a Typo). GenerateSeries (StartValue, EndVaue, increment) , End Value should be 0.3 My way to evaluate first part will be , the visualization looks like a filter so it cannot be a measure or Table. If you pull a column as a filter here, which is numeric, you generally have 2 boxes(one for Max and one for Min). Even if you select a filter (before or after), one of the value is dimmed out. (Until you apply a text box magic disappearance trick). This is just my observation. So has to be New Parameter. One question, you can give Max and Min values of parameter when you create a what if parameter, then why have you used a Generate Series. Regards, HN

@@CurbalEN Hi Ruth, Apologies, I did understand what you meant. Apologies, still learning. I meant that the visualisations if Discount look like a Slicer, so it cannot be a Table or a measure. You cannot pull Tables or Measures in a Slicer. It could be a Column or Parameter, but when you pull a column in a slicer, 2 boxes appear when you do in between and if you choose before or After one of the boxes in the slicer dims out. So has to be a Parameter. This can be one way to evaluate, incase someone has not worked with parameter. :p :p Hope I made some sense here.

Q1=table. Q2=0.3 (start from 0, maximum value=0.3, increment=0.05. For Q1 it is easier for me to use the What if parameter instead create new table. Thanks Ruth!! Josep.

Thanks for the video is very useful For some reason the Search function starts counting from the right side and not from the left side as you see in your example (probably because of the Hebrew language). Is there a way to get the function started and counting from left to right?

Dear curbal / all , I'm facing issue with paginated report. I have published the paginated report in Power BI report server and for the report background we using external image source. I have placed the images also in the same path and calling the URL (reportserver?/report/images/BG_image.png). Images was not rendering. But paginated Report working fine. Please help me on this. The generateseries function in DAX used in the Question 22 returns a table containing only one column, so the first answer is #4. The second parameter of this column is the endValue, so the second answer is #7, the maximum value is set to 0.03

I would use New Parameter from Modelling tab and enter 0 as minimum value, 0.3 as maximum value and 0.05 as increment (data type would be decimal). This would automatically create a single column table and a measure - Discount Value = SELECTEDVALUE('Discount'[Discount]). A slicer can also be created if ticked. So the answers would be 3 and 7 (0.3 not 0.03).

3. A new parameter as it is a changeable value in a slicer. The maximum should be 0.3 as that is the end value in the GENERATESERIES function. I would say 7 if it is said 0.3, but it says 0.03

The correct answers has been already submitted, just to add more votes: Table & 0.3 Second part of the GenerateSerie sintax indicated the maximum value of the serie that start in 0 up to 0.3 This Dax Formula (such as What if feature) generate a new table with the all possible values. So, Distinct[Distinct] is the column result on this new table added to the data model.
