Hey, maybe it's a bit of a crazy idea, but what about connecting the air pump to the same diffuser as the CO2, both with no return valves. This would reduce the number of pipes in the system. Not sure if it works, up to you to try :)

I don't know what kind of fish to suggest, but I do love to see a lot of small fish in a bigger aquarium. You can put a decent sized school of small fish in there. Also, that air pump is really nice! Looking good! Fish is a very personal preference, but in a tank like this maybe a more "coin-shaped" fish like Hyphessobrycon socolofi/rubrostigma (or something similar)? I filled my tank up today with a very minimalist setup (one stone and one piece of wood). I'm going to let it cycle in the dark for the coming 2 weeks, and after a short holiday I will adding plants. Still undecided about what fish to add after that, but probably either a type of Rasbora or Hyph. amandae. We'll see.

My 55 gallon tank has a stupid amount of plants. I used 5 good size rocks (all same kind of stone ) and pieces of driftwood. I stocked it with 3 turbo snails , 10 dwarf corydoras , 3 bright red cherry shrimp , and I bought 2f and 1m of 7 color morphs of guppies as small fry. Now 3yrs later the guppies have made my tank look like a rainbow exploded.

I would go for a group of Microdevario kubotai or Pseudomugil gertrudae, some Kryptopterus bicirrhis and a group of Caridina cantonensis "Tiger" (The ones without color). I really like the tank and i dont think that big or bright fish would suit it, thats why i would choose animals, that are rather hard to spot. They wont take away the attention from the layot, but add a nice touch. Oh, and obviously i love your work, cant wait to see how it will look in a month or two.

I stumbled across this channel randomly, and my god I was blown away by the quality of the aquariums and the ease of maintenance. So much so I couldn't resist starting a small planted project. I've already bought almost everything with the exception of lighting, that's my biggest problem of not knowing what to buy. Can you give me some advice? The aquarium is going to be a 35x35x35 cube, I want to have carpet of Montecarlo or Parvula. I want to have plants in a red tone, in your experience what is the best light for this small project? Thanks

I never liked the idea of raising the lily pipe for night time airation since it produces a lot of noise. The little air pump together with a neo air diffusor suits my needs much better. Pls let us know if the air bubbles can break surface films (thus rendering skimmers unnecessary for nano tanks).

Not sure how I feel about using a small ceramic diffuser for such a large tank. I think you would get a lot more efficiency out of a reactor setup or in-line diffuser. Could work though, because you don't have that much surface agitation, so not much gas exchange. But the CO2 cannister will still get depleated a lot faster than it would with an In-line diffuser or reactor. One thing I am a little bit worried about is if you plan to add Neocaridina shrimp. They really like well oxygenated waters. If you do not have surface agitation, not sure how well they might do with CO2. I like the information you shared about what they do in the ADA gallery with the lily pipe. Personally I use bowl type lily pipes which ensure really good surface agitation all the time, so I don't need an air pump.

Could you add the air supply to the CO₂-piping with a T-connector and use the same diffuser since you'll turn the O₂ on when the CO₂ turn off?
@Patrickjk
@Patrickjk Год назад
I don't think so. The air pump won't be strong enough to create sufficient pressure for the diffusion to take place. The co2 diffuser has finer openings therefore require a minimum pressure to start diffusing the gas, compared to air diffusers.
