Taylor finds a four leaf clover and sticks it in her hair. Stretch, not to be out done by her, sticks daisies and other flowers in his beard. That's a first for a guy. Loved it ! He's pretty funny and must be really fun to hike with. Counting down the miles. Closer and closer. Keep going.
I hand it to anyone who can walk the whole AT but it gives you perspective on those who did it before this ultra lightweight concept came into being when they hiked with 50-60 pound packs all the way.
Without Guthooks to guide you and keep you on the right path. Or a cell phone to call ahead for a shuttle or to book a hostel (less of those, too. More sleeping in the woods every night). I think about that often. Still a hard thing to accomplish even today so not trying to take anything away from those that are successful. Great achievement for all those that succeed by whatever means.
Good job on making it this far and really always posting such positive content even though that trail is by no means easy snd after all these months snd all those miles it can get exhausting. It’s great how you’ve had so much support along the way. You are almost done. What an accomplishment that you will always look back on with fond memories and I’m sure it will keep you motivated to have more of them in years to come. Thanks for sharing this one with us
Morning Taylor! It is so cool Stretch saw a moose, but not nearly as cool as that flower beard! I love how thick and rugged the forest looks in Maine. Sorry that shelter wasn’t your favorite. I’m glad you at least had a dirty puddle to get water from. Good call to filter and boil it. Thanks for bringing us along today. I hope tomorrow’s miles are kind. Keep truckin’ and be well. -Grateful
You timed this perfectly as we are having the best early summer weather. Life is just popping with all our tough northern wildlife. Tell me we don't live in the most beautiful area of the country. We can see your happiness at being home in your stomping grounds. We prayed for you the whole way! God Bless.
Take every advantage you can at this point! Being able to slack pack awhile can really do your attitude a world of good. You both are doing some seriously hard work. Great job!
Closing in on 2,000 miles. I work the night shift. Over the last couple of weeks, I come home from work, I wake up my wife, Lori. We turn on RU-vid and watch your new post.
OMG the daisy beard!!! We were wearing out at this point too - in fact we did an 8-day straight slack pack and it was soooo totally awesome. Glad it pepped you up!
Hey been watching your vids, very enjoyable. quick question: when someone helps you out with slack packing, or someone like Fresh Grounds, do you generally have to tip them? Like is there etiquette about that at all?
WTH, Stretch saw a moose. Stretch saw a bear. Stretch has seen everything! You need to hike ahead of him for a while. He is seeing all the cool animals.
For the first time you are moving away from NH so I can understand why it's harder to hike. On the plus side it's the last State and you only have a couple hundred miles to go.
Early morning or dusk best time to see mooses. My friend went in a store in Errol and asked where a moose could be seen the local said "how can you not see a moose".
We went to Cadillac Mt Maine last year.. when I was at the top of the mountain I could see a chain of mountains. Can you see the Appalachian Trail Mountains from Cadillac Mountain?
We’d love to learn more about Stretch’s backstory. It seems like he is straight out of the witness protection program. Don’t forget to let us know your wedding registry and where to send those gifts.
Saw a moose, saw a moose. Will you do the fandango? That’s what flashed through my mind, but the words are actually: Scaramouche, Scaramouche. Will you do the fandango. Even so it will always be Saw a moose to me.
